The former textile studio is located on the A707 near Selkirk in the Borders, and has been listed as a category A risk building since 2002.
A coalition made up of The Bernat Klein Foundation, the National Trust for Scotland and Scottish Historic Buildings Trust, as well as support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund secured the building on Wednesday for £279,000.
Professor Alison Harley, chair of trustees of the Bernat Klein Foundation, said: 'We are delighted that after many years, the future for Klein's Studio looks very bright.

'We would like to thank everyone who has supported our efforts so far and we look forward to sharing plans and progress over the months ahead.'
Built in 1972 for famous textile designer Bernat Klein and designed by modernist architect Peter Womersley, it was once the centrepiece of the textile industry in the Borders.

Serbian-born Klein had international renown after his designs for famous fashion houses such as Chanel and Dior before his death in 2014, aged 91.
The estimated cost for a full restoration by specialists is predicted to exceed £3m.
Dr Samuel Gallacher, director of the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust, said: 'Buying the building was just the first step in this exciting project.
'The scale of the repair and restoration required at Peter Womersley's Bernat Klein Studio is extensive and will take many months.'
Once the work is completed, the studio will return to its original use as a design studio as well as being a permanent base in the Borders for the Bernat Klein Foundation.
A crowdfunding campaign to help obtain further funds for the restoration has raised £33,000 and remains open until August 8.

‘Incredible' fast food chain from Australia to open 100 new UK stores

It's been called 'the best Mexican on the market' – and now this Aussie-born favourite is planning to take over the UK. The popular fast food chain Zambrero, known for its customisable burritos and burrito bowls, is set to open 100 new UK restaurants by 2030. The Mexican-inspired chain first launched in London in 2021 and has since expanded to 13 locations, including Manchester, Birmingham, Essex and Reading. But it's not stopping there. Zambrero has confirmed more UK sites are on the way next year, including its very first Scottish location. 'We've had a lot of interest in the brand during the last couple of years – and now is the right time for us to expand through our franchise partners and work towards opening 100 restaurants by 2030,' Emily Teh, CEO of Zambrero UK, said. So, what's on the Zambrero menu? Customers can build their own burritos and bowls, nachos and quesadillas from a range of fillings, including pulled pork, chicken, cauliflower and spicy black rice, with salsa, cheese, sour cream and guacamole to top it off. Prices start from around £10 for a small burrito or burrito bowl, with larger sizes coming in closer to around £13. It'll also cost you extra for chips and guac, and churros. Zambrero is probably best known for its burritos and burrito bowls, and some customers have called them the best around. One reviewer raved on TikTok about the Manchester location, calling it 'incredible' and claiming it had 'the best burrito in town'. Founded in Canberra, Australia, in 2005, Zambrero has become the largest Mexican restaurant chain in both Australia and Ireland. With more than 300 global sites, it's now aiming to expand into the UK lunch scene. Social media is filled with praise, and TripAdvisor reviews are equally glowing. 'An absolute must go. I have 3 / 5 of my lunches there. Best Mexican on the market,' one customer wrote. Another called it 'the perfect work lunch spot', and if the expansion goes to plan, you might be seeing one open near your office sooner than you think. It's not the only popular fast food chain expanding in the UK. One burger joint from the Netherlands is also planning to open 100 new UK sites. More Trending Fat Phill's, which is said to be home to Amsterdam's 'best burger', quietly launched in Clapham Junction in London at the end of 2024, serving up smash burgers, American-style sandwiches, loaded fries and mac and cheese. The chain, also known as Fat Phill's Diner, is still relatively new, having only been founded in 2019 by Armin Vahabian, but it's already got 18 locations across the Netherlands. It's been brought over here by Freshly Baked Ltd, the franchisor behind pretzel joint Auntie Anne's UK, and as part of this deal, there are plans to open several more sites on London high streets in the near future and develop up to 100 sites nationwide over the next 10 years. View More » Multiple sites also look set to roll out across Ireland by 2030. Zambrero has 13 different stores across five UK locations. These include: London: Cannon Street, Eastcheap, Kentish Town, Battersea, Crouch End, Twickenham Essex: Chelmsford and Loughton Reading: Queen Victoria Street Birmingham: Bull Ring and Colmore Row Manchester Cross Street and Manchester Picadilly Do you have a story to share? Sheffield Wednesday crisis: Growing EFL fear that first game of new season 'won't happen'

Sheffield Wednesday are in chaos as fears grow over whether their opening match of the season will take place after players were not paid on time for a third month in a row The English Football League is growing concerned that Sheffield Wednesday's first fixture of the Championship season is under threat. The Owls have already seen their friendly with Burnley cancelled this coming weekend after the club failed to pay its players for the third month in a row. ‌ The Yorkshire side found its stars unwilling to play their final pre-season friendly against the Clarets as the game was cancelled on the same day new manager Henrik Pederson took over after the departure of Danny Rohl. Wednesday are just nine days out from their first competitive match of the season against Leicester City. ‌ The EFL are in contact with club officials and are 'increasingly alarmed' by developments at Hillsborough. The side have already been charged by the EFL with multiple breaches of its financial regulations. It comes as Wednesday are already under a transfer embargo and they face a points deduction. ‌ Owner Dejphon Chansiri has come under fire from fans and local politicians in Sheffield. The latest uncertainty follows a summer that has already seen a number of players depart Josh Windass and Michael Smith ended their contracts by mutual consent earlier this month with Pederson leading just a small selection of senior players. Wednesday were meant to play against Burnley on Saturday in a behind closed doors match. It was to be their final friendly fixture before the new season as the club last faced Mansfield Town in a training exercise last month. Owner Chansiri has faced persistent calls to sell up and the Thai tuna magnate has seen a number of interested parties. They are being directed to a group who specialise in the sale of football clubs, with NDAs being signed and proper process followed. Two bids have been rejected from a Florida-based consortium made up of business and professional sportspeople. That has included Sheffield-born Adam Shaw who has made his money Stateside. ‌ There is also believed to be interest from numerous other parties, including former Crystal Palace part-owner John Textor and potential bids from the Middle East. On Tuesday, Sheffield city council issued the club with a prohibition notice in order to prevent them from housing spectators in Hillsborough's North Stand. Councillor Joe Otten noted the decision was made after they consulted with engineering speecialists who could not 'reconfirm that the North Stand is safe for spectator use'. Chansiri's leadership has been slammed. Sheffield South MP Clive Betts recently hit out his "abject failure" at Hillsborough. 'This is yet another abject failure of Chansiri who is unable to competently run Sheffield Wednesday," said Betts. "This is just the most recent issue in a host of problems he has brought and failing to recognise and address. Chansiri clearly has no idea what he is doing with the club and should just move on and sell to an owner that will actually care about the club and its fans.'
