Viktor Gyokeres' private feelings on Arsenal transfer as Gunners make final call
Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres is one of the most sought after forwards in world football, with the lure of Champions League football giving Arsenal an edge in the race
Viktor Gyokeres fancies a move to Arsenal if he gets the pick of his clubs this summer. Arsenal are one of a number of top clubs targeting the Sporting Lisbon forward with Manchester United among others looking at the 27-year-old.
But Sporting believe that Gyokeres prefers Arsenal and the Premier League over interest from Spain and Italy. Arsenal can also offer Champions League football which is something that United cannot boast for any potential transfer targets this summer.
Sporting are ready to sell the Sweden international who hit 95 goals in 100 appearances for the Portuguese club who will allow him to leave if a club comes in with just over £60m this summer. Gyokeres knows English football from his time at Brighton and Coventry but he really made his name in Portugal but is ready for a new challenge.
Gyokeres himself has been tight-lipped on his plans. Asked about his future after Sporting's final game of the season, he said: 'Let's see. It's hard for me to say, because yeah it is football and you never know what's going to happen in the summer. So for me to say anything else than that is impossible.'
Arsenal are looking for a new No9 this summer but are not decided on their top target with sporting director Andrea Berta having spoken to a number of agents, targets and clubs ahead of what will be a huge window for the club.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a long-time admirer of Newcastle 's Alexander Isak but the Toon Army will not allow him to leave. RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is also on their wish list with reports in Spain also suggesting Berta may go back to Atletico for former Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez.
Arsenal also have to balance the spending to make sure they can achieve all of their targets this summer so the cost will come into it. They remain confident on landing Real Zaragoza midfielder Martin Zubimendi who has a £51m release clause.
The Gunners also want a left winger and have an extensive list which includes Leroy Sane whose contract at Bayern Munich has expired and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams.
Berta has held extensive talks with a variety of different clubs and agents and Real Madrid 's Rodrygo has been heavily linked but his price would impact heavily on any other business.

Demir Tiknaz sees Celtic transfer 'contact' made with Rio Ave as Besiktas clock ticks on quick flip plan
The Turkish international is on loan from the Istanbul giants and reports in Portugal claim the Hoops are interested Reports in Portugal claim Celtic have "made contact" with Rio Ave over a deal for Demir Tiknaz. A Bola reports that French Ligue 1 outfit Lille are also interested in the Turkish midfielder and that the Premiership champions have joined his list of admirers. However, Rio Ave can only discuss a potential transfer once they've made his loan switch from Besiktas permanent. The option to do that for €5million expires next Tuesday, so the clock is ticking for the Liga Portugal side to try and turn an immediate profit. And it's claimed that they will only consider offers around the €10million (around £8.4m) mark. Tiknaz made 28 appearances for Rio Ave last season, scoring four times and providing two assists. He is currently on international duty with Turkey, who play friendlies against America and Mexico, the latter being played in the early hours of Wednesday morning - after Rio Ave's option expires. Celtic could of course approach Besiktas directly should that pass without the Portuguese club exercising their option, but their apparent willingness to cash in quick could make a deal easier if the signs there first. Saka joins two England stars left out of Tuchel's squad for Andorra clash
England will be without Bukayo Saka when they take on Andorra on Saturday as the Arsenal winger joins a list of unavailable players that features Ollie Watkins Bukayo Saka has been left out of the England squad that will face Andorra on Saturday as fitness issues continue to hamper the Arsenal man and several of his colleagues in the Three Lions camp. England will continue their World Cup qualifying campaign but Thomas Tuchel will be without his winger, who had become a mainstay under the previous regime. The German confirmed on Friday that Saka had only completed one full training session during the week. Saka, who has won 43 caps for his country, is yet to play for England under Tuchel and it is unclear whether he'll return for the friendly against Senegal in three days. A number of Tuchel's England stars will be heading off to the Club World Cup shortly after their England commitments. Five of the squad will represent Chelsea whilst Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham will also be in action. Despite that the former Chelsea and PSG boss has been under no pressure to keep certain individuals wrapped up in cotton wool. 'No coach has called me and there was no request from the FA,' Tuchel said. 'We know the clubs have a lot of matches and the players go after to he Club World Cup. It can also happen that some players start twice for us but we have an interest to see a lot of players, so I think we will not upset anyone." Tuchel has also warned England fans not to "over expect" when they play Andorra, who are ranked 173rd in the world football.
