14 acres of Gadag MGRDPR University turn into green oasis
Dr Suresh V Nadagoudar, registrar and (acting) vice-chancellor of the varsity, told TOI that the SBI Foundation exclusively selected MGRDPR University from the entire Karnataka to implement the SBI Jan-Van project. "This initiative, launched in collaboration with Sankalpa Rural Development Society (SRDS), is a step toward environmental conservation. This mini forest has become an excellent spot for the leisure of the people of Gadag.
It also offers our students a rare opportunity to experience and connect with the environment. With a dedicated water supply, greenery, and cleanliness, a pure and sustainable ecosystem has been created here," he said.
The forest has a check dam, open gym, meeting space, borewells and recharge units, trenches, gully plugs, solar lights and benches. A wide variety of trees, including Banyan, Neem, Tamarind, Simarouba, Teak, Tabebuia, Bengali, Indian Ash, Guava, Custard Apple, Jamun, Peepal, Fig, and Honge (Pongamia), have been planted here.

The collaborative work from SBI Foundation, Sankalpa, MGRDPRU and the gram panchayats stands as a testament to how collective efforts can bring gradual impact on the ground," he commented.
Sikandar Meeranayak, CEO, SRDS, Gadag, said to ensure water supply during the summer and prevent scarcity, 20-25 water tankers are brought in every month to water the plants. "This has resulted in the healthy, well-nourished growth of plants. The open meeting space is available for small gatherings and cultural programmes. Roofing sheets and curtains have been installed around the area. As a preventive measure against borewell depletion in the future, the Twin Ring Recharge Method (a technique for recharging borewells by capturing rainwater and directing it into the ground through a filtration system using cement rings) has been implemented," he said.

How will GST impact markets Agrawal of SBI Securities said the move to a two-slab GST structure (5% and 18%), plus a 40% slab for sin products, will support consumption. "Few categories like large TV, AC, cement, automobiles, etc are likely to get cheaper, as they are shifted from 28% category to 18%. Moreover, reduction in GST rates on insurance products also will ease burden on consumers. Cheaper cement prices can have a multiplier effect on various sectors like real estate, roads/highways/infra as cost of production is likely to reduce and the same can be passed on to the consumer," he told ET. He cautioned, however, that the reforms must be implemented quickly. If not, festive season sales could be delayed as consumers wait for lower prices, temporarily affecting demand. Gupta and Bathini also praised the move, saying GST relief during the festive season will spur consumption and aid the wider economy, with FMCG and autos likely to gain. Market outlook Indian equities broke a six-week losing streak last week, finishing with gains of over 1%. Experts believe Monday's session will reflect optimism from both global and domestic developments. Santosh Meena, Head of Research at Swastika Investmart, said the Nifty is forming a strong base. "The immediate resistance lies at the 20 and 50-day moving averages (DMAs) clustered around 24,700-24,800. A decisive break above this level could trigger a short-covering rally towards 24,950, 25,080, and 25,225. Immediate support is at the 100-DMA of 24,575, with the crucial support level remaining at 24,350," he said. Anand James, chief market strategist at Geojit Investments, however, expects further weakness. "Directional moving indicators are still in favour of more downsides with 24,000 and 23,560 as potential downside supports attracting prices lower," he said. He added, "That said, the last week saw several attempts to push higher, giving us reversal hopes. Apparently none of those moves managed to successfully close above the 24670-720 band, the near term congestion resistance, they did manage to bring parabolic sar under the price, lending a positive bias." The analyst further said that the market has shown even better signs of resilience having had the highest number of Nifty 500 constituents closing above 10 day SMA, since 24th July. "Incidentally, the Nifty had tumbled from the 25,200 region on that day. This would be the objective we would be aiming, should we clear above 24,720 on Monday." In fact, India is uniquely positioned to lead this shift. We have a rich tradition of functional ingredients, from amla to ashwagandha. We have small brands already doing great work: Auric, Kapiva, Blue Tribe, Yoga Bar. These names are modern, credible, and native. Today, there's a significant move towards embracing a more intentional approach to wellness, paving the way for better-for-you ingredients like protein, even in the most indulgent options. Yet, hospitality menus often reach for imported syrups and generic mocktails instead. Would hotels start treating beverage selection like design — intentional, cultural, expressive? There is no reason why a wellness-forward beverage cannot be the most interesting thing a guest consumes. People are far more likely to remember a tulsi-coconut kefir than their sixth mimosa. This is also about commercial sense. These options often cost less than stocking top-shelf liquor. But they leave a far stronger impression. They earn the post, the compliment, the memory. They mark the property as thoughtful, not just expensive. Well, shake it up, baby, now, twist and shout. None of this means removing alcohol entirely. Alcohol can stay. But it can no longer be the default symbol of luxury. The guest is not looking to be numbed. They are looking to be restored. And when a brand reflects that back to them — when the minibar, the lounge, and the breakfast table all quietly say, 'We see how you live' — that creates affinity. These projects are designed to decongest Delhi, improve connectivity, cut travel time and reduce pollution. 1. Two big projects: The PM will inaugurate the 10.1-km Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway and the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II with links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. 2. Total investment: Combined cost of the projects is nearly Rs 11,000 crore — Rs 5,360 crore for Dwarka Expressway's Delhi section and Rs 5,580 crore for UER-II. 3. Dwarka Expressway packages: Package I runs 5.9 km from Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21 RUB, while Package II covers 4.2 km to the Delhi-Haryana border. 4. Part of larger corridor: The Delhi section complements the 19-km Haryana stretch of Dwarka Expressway, inaugurated by the PM in March 2024. 5.
