French Oaks redemption bid on the cards for Shes Perfect
Shes Perfect is set to return to France to atone for her misfortune in the French 1000 Guineas with a likely crack at the Prix de Diane.
The Sioux Nation filly appeared to have given trainer Charlie Fellowes his first Group One success at ParisLongchamp when first past the post in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.
She drifted to her left across the track, however, and as the winning margin over Zarigana was only a nose, she was placed behind that rival by the stewards.
An appeal against that decision failed but Fellowes has not been deterred and feels the 10-furlong trip of the French Oaks should suit her perfectly.
'I think the plan at this stage is to go to the Prix de Diane,' said Fellowes.
'We're keen to explore 10 furlongs with her and she got headed by (third-placed) Mandanaba in the French Guineas and then fought back and got back in front of her, so I think she will stay.
'She's out of a Galileo mare so on pedigree she should stay and I've always thought on her home work she will stay, so I think we will try 10 furlongs and that is where we are leaning.'

£18m Chelsea midfielder makes feelings clear after Arsenal transfer approach
Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos insists he 'loves' the Blues and is desperate to make it at Stamford Bridge after emerging as a shock transfer target for Arsenal. The Gunners have reportedly expressed interest in signing Santos following his impressive season at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. Santos, 21, was one of the most influential midfielders in the French top-flight last season, scoring ten goals and providing three assists. Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Santos, who Chelsea signed back in January 2023. Chelsea spent £18m to poach Santos from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama but the talented midfielder is still yet to make his first-team debut for the Blues. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. Santos was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest last season before spending 18 months at Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg. Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Santos – though they value the youngster at a steep £50m – but the player himself says his 'desire' is to become a key player for the Premier League club. Following the conclusion of his loan spell in France, Santos could be included in Chelsea's squad for the upcoming Club World Cup. 'The only conversation I had was that I would play in the Club World Cup for Chelsea and after that we'll see what happens,' Santos told the Daily Mail. 'Everyone knows about my love, my desire to play for Chelsea. I think Enzo Maresca was very sincere with me, and I liked that sincerity. 'Also, when you look someone in the eye, when you're sincere, you build trust with the player. 'So I accepted that and went to Strasbourg to get minutes. And now, God willing, we'll see how it goes at the Club World Cup. I hope everything goes well.' Santos described his early struggles at Chelsea and Nottingham Forest as 'very difficult' and discussed how he turned things around at Strasbourg, also owned by Todd Boehly's BlueCo consortium 'It was a very difficult moment in my career – the beginning at Chelsea, with loans and no games at Forest, especially because I was very young,' he added. 'I was always ready to train, always fit to play, but unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity there with the coach at Forest. 'But I never stopped working and I was sure that when the opportunity arose, which it did here at Strasbourg, I would be ready. 'I think the period I spent at Forest, learning and adapting, was fundamental for me to arrive here ready, to arrive here more experienced, let's say, despite how young I am. 'And of course, the mindset changes. I came with a staff, I came with a physical trainer, a cook, a nutritionist too. So I think every detail makes a big difference in football. 'The affection from Chelsea fans is something very special as well. Ever since the news broke that I was going to Chelsea, they started sending me a lot of messages. 'Back when I was at Vasco, too. And I had the spell at Nottingham, where I didn't play, but they sent me messages there too, I'd see some posts, they'd tag me on Instagram and Twitter. More Trending 'But I think during this spell at Strasbourg, they watched more. And since I played well, I think they're very anxious to see me playing for Chelsea, just as I'm very anxious to play there.' Chelsea co-owner Boehly appears to be a fan of Santos, recently hailing him as a 'really exciting' player. 'We're going to the Club World Cup so, right now, we're laser-focused on the Club World Cup,' Boehly said. 'We have some players that are joining us for the Club World Cup that weren't on the team. 'Andrey Santos is coming from Strasbourg. We're really excited about him and what we think he can add to the squad.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Paris St Germain victory parade in Paris to go ahead despite clashes with police
A total of 491 arrests were made in Paris and one fatality recorded after trouble in France's capital city centre following the historic 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan in Munich. During a press conference on Sunday, Paris Police chief Laurent Nunez revealed 192 civilians were injured in addition to nine police officers suffering 'light injuries', whilst the death of a 24-year-old man following a collision with a car is being investigated. 'We are not sure yet whether it is linked to celebrations last night, but an investigation is open, Nunez said. 'This is just half time for us because the PSG players are coming to Paris. We have important work this afternoon. 'We have a cap on the amount of people that can come in. There are 100,000 people that can come in. After that, we can't bring any more people in. 'There will be a celebration around the Parc des Princes as well and the players will be at the Parc des Princes to meet their fans. 'There again we are expecting some clashes, some scuffles and we will be there and we will be very strong in our response against the vandals, against the thieves who have a go at the police officers. 'We will not tolerate any abuse today and the fans who want to enjoy the parade, can do so safely.' — Bruno Retailleau (@BrunoRetailleau) May 31, 2025 Paris Saint-Germain released a statement condemning 'in the strongest possible terms the violence that occured during the celebrations'. It said the 'isolated acts' were 'contrary to the club's values and in no way represent the vast majority of our supporters' and urged all involved in the post-final celebrations to 'demonstrate responsibility and respect so that this historic victory remains a moment of pride shared by all.' The French interior ministry said 559 arrests were made across France during celebrations after Paris Saint Germain's win, whilst a 17-year-old is reported to have died following a stabbing in Dax. 'The true PSG supporters are getting excited watching their team's magnificent match. Meanwhile, barbarians have taken to the streets of Paris to commit crimes and provoke law enforcement,' French interior minister Bruno Retailleau wrote on X. 'I have asked the internal security forces to respond with vigor to these offences. 'I offer my support to the Police Prefect and all the police officers who are ensuring everyone's safety. It is unacceptable that it is not possible to celebrate without fearing the savagery of a minority of thugs who respect nothing.'

Slow start costs Kind Of Blue at Chantilly
The Wathnan Racing-owned Group One-winner was sent off favourite on seasonal bow in the five-furlong heat, but he lost any chance of taking a hand in the finish as he was unsettled in the stalls before losing significant ground to his rivals when the gates opened. James Doyle's mount was eventually beaten a total of six lengths by the winner Monteille, finishing last of the nine contenders, but Fanshawe tried to take the positives out of a somewhat disappointing trip to France. Disaster for Kind Of Blue who trails in last on his reappearance… Monteille capitalises on his misfortune to land the Group Three Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly! 🇫🇷 — At The Races (@AtTheRaces) June 1, 2025 He said: 'It wasn't the plan and he just completely missed the break. 'Looking at it from a positive angle, he's been out, had a run and blown the cobwebs away. All being well, we'll go to Ascot. 'It wasn't ideal but at least he's got a run under his belt. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again.' Kind Of Blue was left unchanged by Coral at 7-1 for his mooted Royal Ascot target of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. Monteille was making just her second start for trainer Mario Baratti and showed a tremendous attitude to finish strongly off the quick fractions set by eventual third, the Czech speedball Ponntos. The winner finished sixth to new Wathnan recruit Lazzat on her return and having enjoyed the drop back to five furlongs, she could now have a trip to the Royal meeting on her agenda having been trimmed to 25-1 from 80s by Coral for the King Charles III Stakes. 'She was very unlucky in the Petit Couvert where she never saw daylight and would have been in the first three and might have won,' said John Hammond, racing manager for winning owner Gerard Augustin-Normand. 'She was over the top last autumn and needed her first run back. She looks like a filly that is coming to herself and has a good shape about her. 'She is in the King's Stand at Ascot (King Charles III) so it is now a possibility, let's see.'
