Yuvraj Samra's unbeaten 50 off just 15 deliveries led Canada to a 10-wicket victory over the Bahamas in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier match.

Opening the batting, Samra launched Canada's chase with a six and never looked back. His explosive knock, featuring five sixes and three fours, shattered the national record for the fastest T20 half-century, previously held by Harsh Thaker, who made 50 off 16 balls earlier in the tournament.
"He's in really good form," said Canadian skipper Nicholas Kirton. "Obviously, he's a special talent."
Set a revised target of 53 in 11 overs after a rain delay of over two hours, Canada chased down the total in just 4.3 overs without losing a wicket. Fellow opener Aaron Johnson remained on four not out.
The Bahamas, who were 34 for three when rain interrupted play at Maple Leaf Cricket Ground, returned to post 52 for seven in their shortened innings. Kervon Hinds offered brief resistance with 12 runs, including three consecutive boundaries, but the batting order collapsed following the restart. Festus Benn was trapped lbw by Kirton, Eugene Duff was stumped, and Julio Jemison was run out in quick succession.

Canada, ranked 19th in T20 cricket, remains unbeaten in the regional final, having defeated Bermuda by 110 runs and the Cayman Islands by 59. They next face Cayman on Thursday, followed by Bahamas on Saturday and Bermuda on Sunday.
Speaking to the Royal Gazette, Bermuda coach Cal Waldron said: 'We didn't execute our game plan against Canada. They gave us a higher total to chase than we wanted, and we were unable to chase it down to come out with a favourable result. We went back to the drawing board, looked at the good and the bad from the game against Canada."
Bermuda must win their remaining matches to keep their qualification hopes alive for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

'Knees of a 15-year-old': Smiling soccer star Müller begins new chapter with Vancouver Whitecaps

If Thomas Müller's offensive output on the soccer pitch can rival the charm offensive on display at his first Vancouver Whitecaps' news conference, the German legend will be worth every penny of the millions the team is shelling out to sign him. Appearing happy and relaxed in downtown Vancouver the morning after his arrival at YVR, the 35-year-old played for laughs from the podium, fully at ease speaking both English and German. He joked about learning to say "soccer" instead of "football," took a question from the German caterer working the event, did goat impersonations into the microphone and boasted that the hard artificial turf at B.C. Place Stadium — considered by some players to be career-shortening — is no match for his ageless athlete's body. "My body feels, even at this stage of my career, too good to retire," he said, flashing a wide smile. "My knees are like the knees of a 15-year-old... Normally, with this kind of turf, it's good for the passing... to have nice combinations, quick combinations, it's sometimes better than [real grass] turf." Nice passing, goals and assists are exactly what is expected of Müller, who could see game action as early as Sunday when the Whitecaps host Houston. His unparalleled resume includes 13 Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich, the only club he has ever played for up until now. In 2014, he helped Germany win the World Cup, four years after earning the golden boot as top scorer at the 2010 World Cup. He said coming to Vancouver — "one of the best cities in the world" — is nice, but he's more interested in adding to his trophy case. "I played so many years at Bayern... it was time for an adventure. But an adventure for me is only interesting when it's having a chance to go for titles. If you watch the Vancouver Whitecaps this season, and the development in the last season, there is a chance," he said. Müller's move is also headline news in Germany, witnessed by the contingent of more than half a dozen reporters who have travelled to cover his arrival. According to Philipp Hinze, Sky Germany soccer reporter, fans back home were surprised that Müller chose Vancouver as his landing spot after leaving Bayern Munich. "It's not the U.S., it's Canada. It's not Los Angeles or New York, it's Vancouver," said Hinze. "If I'm honest, in Germany, it's a very small club. We don't know a lot about the Whitecaps." Hinze believes Muller, even in the sunset of his career, will bring excitement to the Whitecaps and Major League Soccer. "Age is just a number, especially in football. He's not the fastest, his technical abilities are not the best. He's not like a Messi or Ronaldo, but he's such an intelligent player," said Hinze. "He'll play as an attacking midfielder behind the striker. So he can play left, play right, play deep, score goals, kick some assists. He will be the X-factor for the Whitecaps." Team officials say Müllermania has seized the city since the signing was announced last week. "We have never sold so many jerseys in such a short time," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps sporting director. "Our ticket sales for all the remaining home games of the season have spiked, and the game on the weekend is sold out." The Whitecaps sit second in the MLS West conference standings with nine regular-season games remaining.

Grace runs out of wonders as Gardner's Rockets prevail

Ash Gardner and her Australian allies in the Trent Rockets are celebrating their first win of the Hundred season after they managed to bring an end - temporarily at least - to Grace Harris's wonders in the English white-ball event. Queenslander Harris was the unquestioned star for the London Spirit in the first week of the competition, with her two brilliant half-centuries and nerveless death-over helping the champions to a table-topping three wins. But the hitherto winless Rockets, under Gardner's leadership, spoilt the hosts' 100 percent record with a comprehensive 33-run win at the Spirit's Lord's home on Thursday, with all three of the Nottingham-based side's Aussies providing significant contributions. A HUGE win for Trent Rockets 🤩They defeat defending champions London Spirit 👀#TheHundred — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 14, 2025 Gardner herself, who's looked in good nick with the bat during her side's initial struggles, joined forces with Ashes rival Nat Sciver-Brunt for a fine 60 partnership for the fourth wicket that helped, along with Bryony Smith's 42, to propel the Rockets to 6-149. Gardner clouted 25 off 22 balls, with a couple of fours and a six, while Sciver-Brunt, perhaps the best player in the league's brief history, added another half-century to finish on 51 not out off 29 balls. Spirit's assault on the total was quickly scuppered as Gardner (2-14 off 15 balls) got rid of her struggling compatriot Georgia Redmayne (nine off 15) before Australian international Heather Graham (2-28 off 20 balls) grabbed the key wickets of Cordelia Griffith and Issy Wong. Through the gate 🏰Beautiful bowling by Heather Graham 💛#TheHundred — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 14, 2025 Aussie legspinner Alana King also chipped in with 1-30 but the principal destroyer proved to be England left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon (4-15), who induced Harris to slog into the hands of deep square leg for just eight off seven balls. It was Harris's first proper flop with the bat after innings of 89no, 18 and 50no, although she's still second in the list of leading run-scorers on 165 runs, 12 behind her illustrious compatriot Meg Lanning, while scoring at a league-high strike rate of 173.68. Another Australian international Charli Knott did her best to try to drag Spirit back into the contest with her suitably spirited 33 off 25 balls but to no avail as they were skittled out for 116 off 95 balls.
