Meet India's first female spy who worked for this famous freedom fighter, she killed her husband because..., after independence...

(Representational image/AI generated) New Delhi: When it comes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's Azad Hind Fauj (INA), often along with the male leaders, the names of such female heroes are also taken, who not only picked up the gun but also gave sleepless nights to the British by doing secret missions. Born on 5 March 1902 in a reputed business family of Uttar Pradesh, Neera Arya was married to a British loyal police officer Shrikant Jaiswal. Shrikant was working against Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, but the flame of patriotism in Neera's heart gave her the strength to go against her husband and fight for independence. Why did she kill her husband? When Neera came to know that her husband had received an order from the British government to kill Netaji, she took a bold decision and killed her husband and foiled the British plan. This incident shows not only her courage but also her unwavering loyalty to the country. After this incident, Neera Arya joined the women's wing of Azad Hind Fauj, 'Jhansi Ki Rani Regiment'. Why did she become a spy? Instead of being a soldier, she chose the dangerous job of a spy who used to go to different areas and collect information about the activities of the British army and inform the INA about it. Her mission was to keep Netaji's identity and location secret and send the information obtained from spying through secret communication. When she was tortured! During a mission, Neera Arya was arrested by the British government and was accused of killing her husband. She was given inhuman torture in jail. Her chest was branded with hot iron bars, but she did not say a word about INA or Netaji. When she was asked about Netaji's whereabouts, she said, 'I don't know about Netaji, but my duty is to save the country more than my life.' What happened to her after independence? After independence, Neera Arya was forgotten. Neither did she get a place in any government recognition, nor any respect. It is said that she lived a very simple life after independence and used to make a living by selling flowers on the streets of Delhi. Despite this, she never broke down and continued to live a very simple life and at one time used to make a living by selling flowers on the streets of Delhi. However, for Neera, her sacrifice never needed any respect.

Friendship With Epstein Ended As He "Stole People Who Worked For Me": Trump

Washington: President Donald Trump said Monday that he ended his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and threw the now-disgraced financier out of his private club in Florida after Epstein betrayed him more than once by hiring people who had worked for him. Trump did not say what his employees did or where they worked, and the White House declined further comment. But the White House had previously offered a different explanation for the falling-out. Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, said in a statement last week: 'The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep.' Epstein killed himself, authorities say, in a New York jail cell in 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges. Trump and his top allies stoked conspiracy theories about Epstein's death before Trump returned to power. They are now struggling to manage the fallout after the Justice Department said Epstein did, in fact, die by suicide and that it would not release additional documents about the case. The president and his allies, some of whom are now in the administration, had promised to release the files. The case has dogged Trump at home and abroad and even followed Vice President JD Vance during an appearance in his home state of Ohio on Monday. A small group of protesters assembled outside a factory in Canton that Vance toured, holding signs that spelled out 'JD Protects Pedophiles' and indicating that 'GOP' stands for 'Guardians Of Pedophiles.' The Republican president spoke at his golf property in Turnberry, Scotland, as he sat with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after the leaders had met and were answering questions from US and UK journalists. Asked to explain why the relationship had faltered, Trump said, 'That's such old history, very easy to explain, but I don't want to waste your time by explaining it.' He then explained, saying he stopped talking to Epstein after 'he did something that was inappropriate.' 'He hired help and I said, 'Don't ever do that again,'' Trump said. 'He stole people that worked for me. I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' He did it again, and I threw him out of the place, persona non grata.' 'I threw him out, and that was it. I'm glad I did, if you want to know the truth,' Trump added. Trump recently directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek the public release of sealed grand jury transcripts in the case. One federal judge has denied that request; a second judge has yet to rule. Vance, on Monday, visited the factory to promote Trump's tax cut and border bill, but also addressed the Epstein matter, saying the president wants 'full transparency' in the case. 'The president has been very clear. We're not shielding anything,' Vance said in response to a reporter's question. 'The president has directed the attorney general to release all credible information and, frankly, to go and find additional credible information related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.' 'Some of that stuff takes time,' Vance said, adding that Trump has been 'very clear. He wants full transparency.' Trump had said back in 2019 that Epstein was a fixture in Palm Beach, but that the two had had a falling-out a long time ago and he hadn't spoken with Epstein for 15 years. Trump on Monday also denied contributing to a compilation of letters and drawings to mark Epstein's 50th birthday, first reported on by the Wall Street Journal. The newspaper said the letter, believed to be from Trump, included a drawing of a woman's body. 'I'm not a drawing person,' Trump said. 'I don't do drawings of women, that I can tell you.' Trump also said he declined Epstein's invitation to visit a private island the financier owned. 'I never had the privilege of going to his island, and I did turn it down, but a lot of people in Palm Beach were invited to his island,' Trump said. 'In one of my very good moments, I turned it down. I didn't want to go to his island.'

Woman Who Accused Christian Horner Leaves Red Bull For New Role: Report

Last Updated: Accuser of Christian Horner's inappropriate behaviour now holds a new role in motorsport, according to a report. The woman who had accused former Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner of inappropriate behaviour has left the team for a new role in motorsport, according to a report in The Daily Mail. Horner twice transformed Red Bull into Formula 1's dominant team over his two decades in charge. Earlier this month, Horner left Red Bull after two decades in charge, during which time he led them to 14 world titles. Horner was released from operational duties three weeks ago, without being provided with any explanation. A severance package worth up to £60 million to settle his contract has yet to be agreed. Despite having her claims rejected, the female employee remained on Red Bull's payroll for many months afterwards, suspended on full pay, though that arrangement stopped time ago, according to the report. It has now emerged that the woman has taken up a new position. The paddock was electrified in Bahrain last March when an anonymous email, containing a series of racy texts, seemingly between Horner and the female employee, was sent to Formula 1's leading figures. A Red Bull team whose time at the top was ending, Max Verstappen won just two of 14 races to end last season and a draining spell early last year when he was cleared of inappropriate behaviour towards a woman team member should have rung alarm bells for Horner. Instead, just as he did when those allegations emerged in February last year, the British executive carried on working in the hope he could reignite another period of dominance. Sebastian Vettel won four successive titles under Horner from 2010 to 2013, with Verstappen winning the past four. Red Bull won six constructors' crowns in that time as well. Horner missed his first Formula 1 paddock appearance since 2004 at the Belgian GP, watching from home as Oscar Piastri claimed a win and Verstappen finished fourth. view comments First Published: July 29, 2025, 10:14 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
