'Based on all available data there is no tsunami threat to the state of Hawaii, ' the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said at 9 :42 p.m. 'Therefore, the tsunami watch for Hawaii is now canceled. This will be the final message.'
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a swarm of earthquakes—ranging from magnitude 4.7 to 7.4—struck an area about 100 miles east of Kamchatka on the east coast of Russia.
