Florida AG warns tony gym after woman encounters 'man in a bikini' in locker room
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has warned a high-end fitness club it must change its bathroom policy after a recent complaint or face prosecution under Gov. Ron DeSantis' "Let Kids Be Kids" law protecting children from sexually explicit content and gender ideology.
"Men don't belong in female restrooms and locker rooms. That's not happening in Florida under my watch," Uthmeier told Fox News Digital Thursday after a complaint was issued by a woman who visited Life Time Fitness in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The woman said she encountered a person she identified as a biological male in the women's locker room.
The woman, Sonja Horton, said she was in the sauna with a "man in a bikini" and that the front desk told her "whatever you identify as, you can go wherever you want," according to WPTV.

"Life Time has a choice: immediately change your policy so that your female patrons can stay active, free from fear and with their privacy intact or, we'll meet you in court," said Uthmeier.
"And that goes for any Florida gym. In this state, we don't sacrifice women's rights to satisfy men's delusions."

Horton reported not feeling safe, adding it was not "fair" biological men could use the women's room.
The incident report led Uthmeier to send a warning letter to Life Time Inc., saying its policies "clearly harm and endanger women who use facilities at Life Time Palm Beach Gardens."
It said the gym argued that Palm Beach County code makes gender identity a protected class and "therefore condones or requires its harmful locker room policy."

"If that were true, the policy would nonetheless run afoul of Florida laws that safeguard the fundamental rights of women," Uthmeier wrote.
In response, a Life Time official told Fox News Digital it "carefully reviewed" Uthmeier's warning letter and "interpretation of the interplay between the Florida Civil Rights Act prohibiting discrimination in public accommodations based on "sex," and the Palm Beach County ordinance, which additionally prohibits discrimination based on "gender identity and expression."
The Life Time official said Uthmeier's legal opinion is that Florida law requires access to locker rooms based on sex listed on government documents, adding that the gym follows "all applicable federal, state and local public accommodation laws within each jurisdiction it operates."
"Accordingly, we will comply with Attorney General Uthmeier's legal opinion while also remaining committed to welcoming all members at our Palm Beach Gardens club," the official said.
A DeSantis spokesman told Fox News Digital safety and privacy are paramount in the Sunshine State.
"In Florida, we reject the lie that men can become women and support the privacy and safety of women's private spaces, like locker rooms," said Brian Wright, a spokesman for the governor.

Central Florida law enforcement gears up for national protests
Law enforcement authorities are making arrangements for a day of nationwide protests that is scheduled for Saturday, June 14th. More than a dozen demonstrations are planned across major Central Florida cities, with at least one organized protest planned in Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Lake, Osceola and Brevard counties. According to organizers, a protest scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. outside Orlando City Hall is expected to draw more than 1,000 people. According to Channel 9, organizers have also reported that over 2,000 people have RSVPed for protests at the US 1 and SR 520 intersection in Cocoa, with more than 500 people expected to attend another demonstration at Florida 44 and Mission Drive in New Smyrna Beach. According to the organizers, they're planning to demonstrate on Flag Day, coincidentally also President Trump's birthday. Organizers say they're coming together to protest the president's plans for a military parade in Washington, D.C., and to show opposition to growing authoritarianism under the Trump Administration. Organizers call the event 'No Kings Day,' and they write on their website, 'A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation.' Amid unrest in California, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier emphasized that Florida law clearly prohibits rioting and includes enhanced penalties for those who break that law. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey also issued a stern warning to Floridians during a press conference in Titusville on Thursday. 'If you throw a brick, a firebomb, or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains, because we will kill you graveyard dead,' Ivey said. On Friday, Channel 9 heard from Law Enforcement in Seminole, Osceola, Volusia and Orange Counties, who said they were aware of protests and were making necessary preparations. Most departments declined to provide specifics for security reasons. A spokesperson for the Orlando Police Department said, 'The Orlando Police Department is aware of the protest taking place downtown tomorrow and has made all necessary preparations. While OPD does not discuss specific security measures, we always assess the needs of large-scale events to make sure enough staff are on hand to protect and serve our community.' FIRST ON FOX: The House Oversight Committee is now probing the riots in Los Angeles and California officials' handling of them, Fox News Digital is learning first. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., who chairs the subcommittee on law enforcement, sent letters to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday. "The rioters in Los Angeles have committed vicious acts of violence and fearmongering directed at law enforcement and others. They set fire to vehicles and property around the city, and assaulted officers with deadly weapons such as rocks and Molotov cocktails," Comer wrote to the DOJ. "Assaults on law enforcement officers legally executing their orders are reprehensible and those responsible must be dealt with in accordance with the severity of their actions." Democrats have accused Trump of needlessly escalating the situation, while the president's GOP allies argued it was a necessary step to quell the violence. Comer said law enforcement "were forced to fire pepper spray to disperse crowds and made dozens of arrests," blaming the escalation on the rioters. A federal judge ruled Thursday that Trump must return control of the California National Guard to Newsom, but an appeals court quickly reversed that decision. According to court documents, a conversation between Diddy and Doe was recorded by Kristina Khorram — the music exec's chief of staff — on Nov. 19, 2023 three days after Cassie filed her lawsuit. In the latter, Cassie alleged rape and physical abuse, and just two days later, Diddy settled with her for a reported $20,000,000. In the reported audio recording, Diddy urged Jane not to send him any more text messages, worrying that someone could twist the meaning of their communication if intercepted.
