Ungaludan Stalin a single-window solution for govt services, says MaSu

Chennai: Health minister Ma. Subramanian on Tuesday reviewed the 'Ungaludan Stalin' initiative at G.M. Mahal in Nerkundram (Ward 148), Valasaravakkam Zone, and said the camps are emerging as a single-window solution for a range of govt services.
Launched by chief minister M.K. Stalin on July 15 in Chidambaram, the outreach programme aims to conduct 10,000 such camps across the state by November, bringing government schemes and grievance redressal mechanisms closer to people.
"What's new about these camps is the scale and integration—services from 15 departments are being offered under one roof," the minister told reporters.

In Greater Chennai Corporation limits alone, 400 camps are planned—two in each of the 200 wards—with 109 being held this month.
Six camps are being conducted daily in different localities, he added.
A focus area at the Nerkundram camp was the Kalaignar Women's Rights Fund scheme, with more than 10 exclusive counters set up to process applications.
Trained volunteers from the Corporation assisted women with the forms, ensuring no intermediarieswereinvolved.

CHENNAI: DMK president and Chief Minister MK Stalin, who has been undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals since July 21, held a discussion with senior officials, including the chief secretary, on Saturday on the representation to be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Tamil Nadu on a two-day visit. DMK MP Kanimozhi and secretaries to the chief minister were also present during the discussion. A statement said the representation would include demands related to various development projects to be taken up in the state. The chief minister also announced that Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu would be submitting the petition to Modi. Later in the evening, DMK's regional in-charges visited Stalin in the hospital to discuss party activities, especially the 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' campaign. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, party treasurer TR Baalu, and organisation secretary RS Bharathi were also present. Stalin reviewed the constituency-wise progress in enrolment under 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu'. He appreciated the functionaries of 150 Assembly constituencies that have crossed 30% enrolment in party membership. He also pointed out the districts and constituencies that were lagging and asked the respective regional in-charges to pay special attention to them. The chief minister also pointed out discrepancies in enrolment at certain polling stations and directed the functionaries of those booths to conduct the process afresh. He also asked party leaders about the public response to the 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme. On X platform, Stalin posted, 'Although the doctors are insisting that I remain in the hospital, I do not feel like resting while my party cadres are tirelessly working on the field.'

External quality assurance laboratory set up to ensure quality of tests at govt facilities

To ensure the quality of tests conducted at government laboratories across Tamil Nadu, an external quality assurance laboratory has been established at the State Public Health Laboratory (SPHL), Directorate of Public Health (DPH) and Preventive Medicine. Set up at a cost of ₹1.13 crore, the laboratory will ensure the quality of tests conducted in 2,177 Primary Health Centres (PHC), 300 government hospitals and 36 medical college hospitals across the State without any cost to the participating government labs. Pilot launch As a pilot project, the DPH-EQAS (External Quality Assurance Scheme) programme is being rolled out at 116 PHC laboratories in Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts. According to an official release, laboratory services are essential for the diagnosis of diseases, surveillance and to initiate preventive and control measures. Currently, the Integrated Essential Laboratory Services (IELS) being implemented has further strengthened the scope and services in the State. Under IELS, samples are being referred from spoke labs to hub labs for various investigations. So, patients need not travel unnecessarily, and it reduces the out of pocket expenditure as well. So far, laboratories under DPH and other health institutions were sending samples for external quality checks to Christian Medical College, Vellore for an annual expenditure of ₹52 crore. Based on the participation of EQAS programme and other parameters, 1,622 PHC labs in Tamil Nadu are NABL certified under MELT programme. From now on, the SPHL can conduct the quality EQAS laboratories are not available in other government or their allied institutions. Hence, it was decided to establish the DPH-EQAS lab at SPHL. The National Health Mission, Tamil Nadu sanctioned ₹90 lakh for the procurement of laboratory Minister Ma. Subramanian inaugurated the DPH-EQAS lab and launched the pilot programme in the two districts. He also launched a mobile app developed for the project to upload laboratory results. After the successful implementation of the pilot project in Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts, ISO 17043 will be obtained from NABL and from January 2026 onwards, all government laboratories in T.N. will be participating in the DPH-EQAS Program, the release said.

Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday underwent a diagnostic angiogram at Apollo Hospital in Chennai. The results of the procedure were normal and Stalin was expected to resume his routine in two days, said a medical bulletin from the hospital's Director of Medical Services, Dr Anil B G. Stalin was admitted to the hospital on Monday after he complained of giddiness. The bulletin stated that various investigations were conducted for symptoms related to giddiness. "The investigations revealed that the symptoms were due to variations in heart rate. Based on the opinion of a medical experts committee led by interventional cardiologist Dr G Sengottuvelu, he (Stalin) underwent a therapeutic procedure this morning (Thursday) to correct these variations. "Stalin has done several good things for the people, and people have great expectations from him," he said.
