Saints share slick highlight reel from latest OTAs practice
Here's our latest look at the New Orleans Saints. The team shared a slick highlight reel from Tuesday's organized team activities practice session, which you can see here, featuring several players who figure to have critical roles for the Saints this year.
"Money got made today, no cap," second-year wide receiver Bub Means said into the camera. Players are still practicing in helmets without shoulder pads, but this phase of the offseason ramps up contact to help them prepare for a grueling summer training camp.
It's good to see so many of them in attendance and hard at work. Not just rookies and young pros like quarterbacks Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and Hunter Dekkers; but seasoned veterans got their reps in like Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy and future Hall of Famer Cameron Jordan, entering his fifteenth year in black and gold.
And some new faces are stepping up as vocal leaders. Cornerback Alontae Taylor addressed the huddle at the end of the session: "Hey good work first day boys, let's get in the classroom, learn from mistakes."
It's just a shame this was only a one-minute clip. Fans will be in attendance at a couple of open practice dates in June, so hopefully the Saints will start to give greater access to the team and how they're working to get better. Coming off a five-win season and staring down a schedule lacking any prime-time games, they could use some positive buzz.

Saints Coach Indirectly Slows Hype for Giants' Pursuit of Chris Olave

Saints Coach Indirectly Slows Hype for Giants' Pursuit of Chris Olave originally appeared on Athlon Sports. On paper, the New York Giants trading for receiver Chris Olave would make a good amount of sense. The New Orleans Saints don't plan on being competitive in 2025, and Olave is eligible for an extension, with his free agency looming after the 2026 season. Advertisement The Giants could stand to upgrade at receiver, too, and the chance to sign him to a long-term deal makes a trade all the more enticing. That doesn't mean a move is coming down the chute. Saints coach Kellen Moore recently quieted the rumors surrounding Olave, letting the Giants (and the rest of the league) know that he isn't available. 'I wouldn't worry too much about that,' Moore told reporters during his press conference on Thursday. 'We feel really, really good about Chris. He's had an excellent offseason, he's had an excellent career so far, and he's going to have an excellent future.' There's every chance Olave signs a second contract with New Orleans, but a handful of concerns still linger, potentially making him available (or, perhaps, less appealing). Advertisement Paramount is the five concussions Olave has suffered since debuting at Ohio State. He entered the league with one to his name but has been plagued by head injuries throughout his career. This came to an urgent head in the middle of the 2024 season. In Weeks 6 and 9, Olave suffered concussions, bringing his total to (at least) five. That's incredibly concerning for Olave and puts his long-term status in doubt. Olave found 32 catches for 400 yards and a touchdown in his half-season's worth of work in 2024. Prior, he posted two 1,000-yard seasons. On a pure talent level, he's a star and an upgrade over veteran Darius Slayton. That isn't necessarily enough to warrant a deal, especially given New York's early schedule and the likelihood that it will be out of contention by the deadline. The team also just re-signed Slayton to a three-year deal. He's a beloved veteran in the locker room and stands to improve with Russell Wilson under center. Upsetting that dynamic immediately after signing him isn't good politics, which New York might be inclined to monitor after general manager Joe Schoen ruffled feathers with corner Nick McCloud a season ago. Advertisement Olave is a movable receiver and a better option than Slayton. Given just about everything else necessary for a trade to come to fruition, it is more worth hoping he has a healthy season and hits free agency in 2026. Trevon Diggs aims to return for season opener

Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is rehabbing his left knee after undergoing chondral bone graft surgery Jan. 23, which entails transplanting pieces of bone tissue into the joint to stimulate growth. While he was expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season, Diggs told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News that his goal is to return in time to play Week 1. Diggs, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee during a Week 3 practice in 2023, is rehabbing in Miami. He is attending the team's mandatory minicamp this week, though he is not cleared for on-field work. Diggs twice has made the Pro Bowl, but he has played only 13 games combined the past two seasons because of his knee injuries.

NFL Trade Idea Lands Aaron Rodgers a Disgruntled Commander

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Since last week, it became clear the Washington Commanders aren't on the greatest of terms with their star wide receiver, Terry McLaurin. Heading into the final season of his current contract, McLaurin wants a new deal before he gets going for the 2025 NFL season. The Commanders fired up OTAs in the spring, and McLaurin made a silent statement by not being around the team. Since the sessions were voluntary, McLaurin's absence didn't hold that much weight. The same can't be said about McLaurin's decision not to show up for this week's set of offseason practices. Right now, there's a bit of a standstill going on. As a result, there's at least some level of doubt surrounding McLaurin's future with the Commanders. Without a new contract in place for the veteran wideout, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox kicked around a trade idea that would gift the Pittsburgh Steelers and their new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, the disgruntled star pass-catcher. In the hypothetical deal, the Commanders would acquire a 2026 first-round pick from the Steelers and a 2027 fifth-round pick, which would come from the Dallas Cowboys. Aller/Getty Images "If the Steelers were ever going to go all-in on a season, this is the one," Knox wrote. "...Though Rodgers had a largely forgettable season with the Jets in 2024, he was coming back from a torn Achilles. In theory, the 41-year-old will be an upgrade over last year's duo of Fields and Russell Wilson. If the Steelers hope to make a legitimate run at a Super Bowl with Rodgers, however, they should look for all of the receiver help they can get. McLaurin, who is a pristine route-runner who can attack all areas of the field, would complement Rodgers well." Acquiring McLaurin certainly wouldn't come cheap for Pittsburgh. However, if they want to maximize the gamble of bringing on Aaron Rodgers, who could end up being a one-year rental, McLaurin could bring a lot of value to the field. Last season, McLaurin appeared in 17 games for the Commanders. He formed a solid connection with Washington's first-round rookie, Jayden Daniels. The veteran wideout caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. McLaurin added a second Pro Bowl nod to his resume and became an All-Pro for the first time in his career. While picking up McLaurin in this scenario would be a move to stack up weapons for the 41-year-old Rodgers to try and win right away, the Steelers would get an opportunity to secure a proven star receiver for years to come. So far, the Commanders haven't reached a point of no return with McLaurin. Comments from Jayden Daniels and the head coach, Dan Quinn, suggest that everybody but McLaurin's reps and the Washington front office are on the same page. McLaurin might be a holdout right now, but the Commanders seem confident that the situation will get resolved soon.
