Dubai Sports Council (DSC) announced that the second edition of the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend is set to return from 13th to 16th November 2025, held in collaboration with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO).
The council said that the 2025 edition is set to be 'bigger and better' by opening the registration to amateur triathletes in the 100km race (2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run) and the Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run).
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said that the event reflects Dubai's commitment to strengthening its global standing in sports tourism and aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. He noted that the 2024 edition achieved significant success and expressed confidence that this year's edition will attract broader international attention and further support Dubai's economy.
Eisa Sharif, Director of Sports Events at the Dubai Sports Council, said, 'For 2025, we are working closely with the PTO to expand all three race categories. In addition, we will introduce a Schools Event and a Corporate Relay, further enhancing community engagement and reinforcing our vision of promoting healthy, active lifestyles to improve the quality of life in Dubai.'
He added, 'The T100 brought together the world's top triathletes, including Olympic champions, and crowned the first-ever men's and women's T100 World Champions - Belgium's Marten Van Riel and America's Taylor Knibb - both delivering outstanding performances.'
Sam Renouf, CEO of the Professional Triathletes Organisation, stated, 'The 2024 Dubai T100 Triathlon was a huge success, quickly becoming a bucket-list race on the new T100 World Tour. We're thrilled to be building on that momentum by creating more opportunities for amateur athletes - and now, corporate teams - to participate in a festival-like celebration of swim, bike, and run around the iconic Meydan Racecourse.'
The 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour has already visited Singapore, San Francisco and Vancouver. The next T100 race is in London in August.

Dubai Youth councils team up to host Youth lab

In conjunction with International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, the Dubai Youth Council hosted the 'Dubai Youth Lab' in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority Youth Council. The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; His Excellency Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai; His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality; Her Excellency Aisha Miran, Director General of KHDA; His Excellency Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers; HE Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health; and Eman bin Khatem, CEO of the Policies and Programs Sector at the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, along with over 60 young men and women from various government, semi-government, and private entities. Held at The Executive Council's General Secretariat headquarters, the event aimed to activate the role of youth, leveraging their skills and creative energy to develop solutions and ideas that advance government initiatives and strengthen vital sectors across the UAE. The immersive format replicated the government decision-making environment, blending empowerment, innovation, and real-world challenge analysis. His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi emphasised: 'Celebrating International Youth Day embodies the leadership's vision to support and empower youth by creating environments that turn their energy into tangible achievements. Youth are the foundation of comprehensive development and true partners in shaping the nation's future. Today's investment in their capabilities is a strategic one, reflecting leadership's trust in their role in safeguarding national security and stability – a national necessity for sustained progress and prosperity.' He added: 'The Dubai Youth Lab serves as a national initiative bringing together creative young minds with inspiring leaders and decision-makers, providing a dynamic platform for youth to present ideas and craft practical solutions to future challenges. It models collective action and sustained dialogue with youth, contributing to the development of policies and initiatives that turn dreams into reality and expand their positive impact on society and the nation.' Partners of today and tomorrow His Excellency Abdulla Al Basti said: 'Under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Dubai has established itself as a global city that empowers youth – building their capabilities, funding their innovative ideas, and placing them in leadership roles to realise their ambitions. The Dubai Youth Lab is part of an integrated ecosystem that unites government entities, economic sectors, and youth organisations to equip young people with leadership skills and strategic opportunities to shape our shared future.' Interactive approach, tangible results The event began with opening remarks from leaders, followed by the division of participants into working groups. Each received a 'vital file' based on a real government challenge, analysed its root causes, and developed comprehensive solutions. These were presented to a judging panel of experts and decision-makers, evaluated on innovation, feasibility, and alignment with national priorities. Her Excellency Aisha Miran noted that such experiences demonstrate the maturity and readiness of Dubai's youth. 'This is more than a platform for exchanging ideas – it is a genuine workshop where youth energy meets Dubai's strategic vision, producing actionable concepts that can enhance quality of life, develop education, and advance sustainability and digital transformation. The ideas presented today were practical, well thought out, and reflect a deep understanding of upcoming priorities. We must continue to nurture these talents and provide the enabling environment for them to succeed.' Decision-makers in the making Reem Al Falasi, President of the Dubai Youth Council, said: 'Dubai Youth Lab reflects the emirate's vision of empowering young minds to shape their own future – not just as beneficiaries, but as decision-makers and true changemakers. The event enhances understanding of Dubai's decision-making processes, builds youth policy analysis skills, and fosters direct communication between youth and leadership. It also generates innovative ideas that can contribute to government development.' The six participating groups tackled priority community issues such as the future of education, mental health, employment, aligning education with labour market needs, training culture, and empowering non-university graduates. The Lab's outputs will be documented, analysed, and submitted to relevant authorities to inform future programmes and policies.

China's Zhenhua Oil doubles crude offtake from UAE in new deal, sources say

China's Zhenhua Oil is set to double its oil offtake from Abu Dhabi National Oil Co to 200,000 barrels per day after taking on a new role leading development of one of the exporter's top oilfields, three Chinese industry sources said. In January, the smallest of China's state oil companies replaced French major TotalEnergies following a bidding process to become asset leader for Bu Hasa, the largest onshore oilfield in the United Arab Emirates, the sources said. With that new role, in which Zhenhua is responsible for setting Bu Hasa's development plan and meeting production and cost targets, it also agreed a new annual deal to receive an additional 5 million tons, or 100,000 bpd, from ADNOC, the sources said. The offtake deal, finalised around April, and Zhenhua's role in Bu Hasa have not been previously reported. It adds to Zhenhua's existing 100,000 bpd offtake agreement as an equity holder in ADNOC Onshore, said the sources, declining to be named as they were not authorised to speak to the media. The total amount of crude Zhenhua is contracted to receive from ADNOC will be ramped up to 200,000 bpd by around year-end, one of them said. Zhenhua and TotalEnergies did not respond to requests for comment. ADNOC said it does not comment on commercial matters. In April, ADNOC set up an office in Beijing to expand investment opportunities with Chinese partners. Established in 2003 under state defense conglomerate Norinco, Zhenhua specialises in oil and gas production outside China and has oil assets in Iraq, Pakistan and Kazakhstan. In 2018, Zhenhua won a 4% stake in ADNOC's giant onshore concessions, securing a position alongside heavyweights including BP, TotalEnergies and CNPC. With the increased offtake, Zhenhua is set to become a more active trader of Abu Dhabi's main Murban grade. The company, which runs trading desks in Beijing and Singapore, will place its first crude trader in Abu Dhabi this month, the sources added.
