A proud Elon Musk shares how SpaceX started in a garage as its Falcon rockets complete 500th mission
In a moment that feels almost too surreal for the age of trillion-dollar valuations and reusable rockets, a vintage video of Elon Musk has resurfaced, reminding the world of a time when he had to literally introduce himself, spell out his name, and explain what he did.In the clip, likely from the early 2000s, a young and relatively unknown Musk says into the camera: 'Elon Musk. E-L-O-N-M-U-S-K. Chief Executive Officer of Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX .' The video, now viral, is a poignant flashback to a time when the man who would later dominate the electric vehicle, spaceflight, social media, and artificial intelligence industries was just another entrepreneur with a dream—and a rented office. This scene, pulled from a resurfaced interview doing rounds on X (formerly Twitter ), has reignited conversations about Musk's meteoric rise. As per Forbes, Musk, now worth $424.7 billion as of May 2025, is not only the richest person on Earth but arguably the most powerful civilian in shaping its—and space's—future. The full video reveals a remarkably consistent vision: even in those early days, Musk was driven by a cosmic goal. 'I think there's only so much we can learn by looking through a telescope, and eventually we need to go out there if we're to find the answer,' he says earnestly, speaking of the stars like someone speaking of a childhood home yet to be visited. That belief, it turns out, wasn't just a passing fancy. In 2002, the same year he became a U.S. citizen, Musk founded SpaceX with $100 million from his PayPal earnings. Despite multiple failed launches that almost bankrupted him, SpaceX succeeded—and the rest is spacefaring history. Today, SpaceX is not only sending cargo and astronauts to the International Space Station but also spearheading efforts to deorbit the ISS and colonize Mars through its Starship program. But Musk's empire doesn't end with rockets. His name is synonymous with Tesla , the EV company he joined in 2004 and transformed into the world's most valuable automaker. Then there's Neuralink , The Boring Company, OpenAI (which he co-founded but later left), and its rival xAI. His $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in 2022 and rebranding of it as X brought him into the cultural and political mainstream—with all its complexities. While his supporters hail him as a genius visionary, critics point to his erratic behavior, promotion of conspiracy theories, and controversial policies, especially since his control of X.The resurfaced video is more than nostalgia—it is a startling juxtaposition. It reminds us how identities in Silicon Valley are often forged not just through funding rounds, but relentless ambition and near-messianic self-belief. Just two decades ago, Musk was a man trying to get investors to remember his name. Today, presidents remember his number. As the richest man in the world, the father of Starlink and Cybertrucks, and the digital czar of X, Musk now doesn't need to introduce himself. But for anyone feeling invisible in the crowd of dreamers, this throwback offers a rare, powerful truth: even Elon Musk once had to spell it out.

After consoles and games, Microsoft may increase price of Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft may be planning to raise the price of Xbox Game Pass after the company recently increased the price for its Xbox consoles and games. This potential price hike was suggested by a new notification type that was discovered within Xbox Cloud Gaming. A page on social media platform X (earlier Twitter) named RedPhx, which develops the Better xCloud Xbox Cloud Gaming enhancement project, recently noticed a "SubscriptionPriceIncrease" notification type. This discovery suggests that a price adjustment for the subscription service may be coming soon. Microsoft has previously raised the price of its Xbox game consoles. More recently, the company also increased the price of individual Xbox games to $80. The strings relate to pop-up notifications displayed by Xbox Cloud Gaming for users who have enabled alerts on the web app. Most of these notifications are routine, such as updates on rewards, unlocked achievements, or friends coming online. However, the latest one referencing subscription price hikes is a new addition. These upgraded servers are expected to be part of the company's upcoming hardware lineup, which includes devices like the Xbox Ally and the successor to the Xbox Series X. The new cloud infrastructure aims to offer reduced latency, better bitrates, and support for higher resolution streaming. Xbox and PlayStation Price Hikes Explained The report also notes that Microsoft is exploring the possibility of launching a standalone cloud-only subscription, separate from Xbox Game Pass Ultimate . With a growing number of users in certain regions opting for cloud-only access, a tiered pricing model—similar to Nvidia GeForce Now—could be in the works, potentially requiring higher payments for access to premium features like high-resolution streams. Whether this leads to another price hike for Xbox Game Pass remains to be seen, especially following last year's increase. For now, subscribers can still stack Xbox Game Pass cards for up to two years to lock in current pricing. AI Masterclass for Students. Upskill Young Ones Today!– Join Now

France's second-largest telecom provider faces widespread mobile network outage, company says investigating the issue

Representative Image France 's second-largest telecom provider, SFR, is currently facing a widespread mobile network outage. The downtime has made accessing texts, calls, and mobile internet impossible for thousands of users across the country. The company has confirmed that it is aware about the outage and is currently investigating the issue. The outage is also affecting broadband contract holders with SFR, preventing internet use in their homes. Reports of the disruption began arriving around 11:00 AM local time (2.30 PM IST), with hundreds of users quickly reporting the network as down. At its peak, around 4:53 PM IST, outage tracking website Downdetector recorded over 10,000 reports of the SFR network being down from across France. However, normal service is expected to be resumed later this evening, June 16. What SFR said about the widespread mobile network outage Replying to a post on social media platform X (earlier Twitter), SFR wrote (translated from French): 'We would like to inform you that a technical incident is currently impacting our network. In November 2024, users of the 'Free' network experienced an outage that, in some cases, lasted for several hours. Recently, in April, a massive blackout swept across Spain, Portugal and parts of southern France disrupting life for nearly 50 million people throughout Europe. The outage brought subway systems to a standstill, cut off phone services, disabled traffic lights, and rendered ATMs inoperable. The outage also forced the suspension of Madrid Open matches. Public transport systems, airports, traffic lights, and phone services across major cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, and parts of southern France were affected.

Elon Musk's company is facing new challenge from China's latest tech progress

China's first clinical trial of a technology that allows signals from the brain to control an external device has proved successful, making it only the second country after the US to reach this stage, a report has said. Until now, Elon Musk-owned Neuralink has been able to successfully implant a brain chip in a human, enabling him to carry out tasks like control a computer mouse using his thoughts. Citing Global Times, Bloomberg reported that Chinese researchers used brain-computer interfaces, or BCI, a wireless invasive implant in a patient with tetraplegia in March. Only a few weeks after the surgery, the patient was able to play racing games and chess on the computer using only the mind to control the electronic devices, it said, citing a statement from the Shanghai-based Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology. How China's tech is different from Musk-owned Neuralink The implant used in the Chinese trial is said to be the world's smallest so far, with a diameter of 26 millimeters and thickness less than 6 millimeters and is over 100 times more flexible than the one developed by Neuralink. For the next stage, the team plans to enable the patient to operate a robotic arm using thoughts to perform more complex physical actions such as grasping and holding a cup. The centre launched the trial in collaboration with Fudan University's Huashan Hospital. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The centre said the BCI system could get approval from the authorities, and be able to enter the market as early as 2028. BCI is an emerging technology to help restore functionality to people with paralysis, and Neuralink, co-founded by Elon Musk appears to be the only company that has successfully trialled the implant in humans.
