It's common knowledge that art month in the city doesn't limit itself to galleries and large-scale art events. Hong Kong's restaurants are always quick to offer a menu or special dish that's on theme. And this art month, Fish Bar goes one step further with an artistic culinary journey that celebrates the beauty of nature and showcases a symphony of colours.
Created using sustainable seafood, the Colouring Nature: Exotica Umami tasting menu is a four-course dinner made in partnership with Exotica Umami – a versatile sauce reinvented from an ancient Roman marinade. Served at the alfresco seafood restaurant inside the JW Marriott Hotel, the dinner includes dishes including an artfully presented 'cod mosaic', a refreshing tuna tartare made with house-grown perilla from the JW garden, and prawn tacos with braised tofu and Exotica Umami aioli.

Japanese pop idol Kenshin Kamimura has been fined HK$15,000 after he molested a female interpreter in Hong Kong. The ex-member of boy band ONE N' ONLY was arrested in March and pleaded not guilty to indecent assault in April. According to the Associated Press (AP), Kamimura allegedly touched the woman's thigh repeatedly during a celebratory dinner in Mong Kok and invited her to a bathroom elsewhere. The court heard that the interpreter dismissed his advances and told him she had a partner. On Wednesday, Judge Peter Yu said the singer touched the woman in a caressing manner, implying a sexual undertone and indecent intent. 'The defendant's acts are obviously disrespectful toward women… Such behaviour should be condemned,' Yu said, according to the AP. During the trial, Kamimura's defence told West Kowloon Court that the claims were exaggerated and that the alleged invitation to the bathroom may have been innocent, the AP reported. The maximum penalty for indecent assault is 10 years in prison, though Kamimura avoided a jail term after his lawyers argued that he had a promising future and had already paid a heavy price. Kamimura's contract with ONE N' ONLY was terminated in March.

12 arrested in Hong Kong-Shenzhen joint operation targeting suspected fake concert tickets
Hong Kong and Shenzhen authorities have arrested a total of 12 people in a joint operation targeting the manufacturing and sale of suspected fake concert tickets. More than 400 high-quality counterfeit or half-finished fake concert tickets were seized by Hong Kong and Shenzhen police in a recent crackdown on a cross-border syndicate, the city's police force said at a press conference on Sunday. Four men, aged between 24 and 39, were apprehended in Shenzhen, including a Hong Kong man who mainly resides in mainland China and is said to be the mastermind of the syndicate. During the raid in Shenzhen, local authorities seized suspected counterfeit tickets for ongoing and upcoming events, printing machines, invisible ink, cutters, envelopes, and other equipment used to produce the suspected fake tickets. In Hong Kong, seven men and one woman, aged 19 to 65, were arrested for offences including conspiracy to defraud, possession of false documents, obtaining money by deception, and money laundering. They were linked to at least 16 cases of fake concert tickets, with total estimated losses exceeding HK$100,000. Local media reported that the tickets included the concert of South Korean pop star Kwon Ji-yong, also known as G-Dragon. Police said last week that his fans were scammed out of more than HK$610,000 worth of fake tickets to his sold-out Hong Kong concerts. Police said the seized tickets were highly convincing, with the font, anti-counterfeit features, and paper quality closely resembling those of genuine tickets. However, there were minor flaws that could be spotted with the naked eye, for example, differences in the wording of the English terms and conditions, as well as variations in the placement of punctuation marks in the Chinese text. In June, eight people were arrested for allegedly selling high-quality counterfeit tickets to concerts by Cantopop star Nicholas Tse, Taiwanese singer Jay Chou, and four other musicians. The eight suspects were part of a cross-border syndicate involved in at least 40 suspected scams, according to local media, with total losses estimated at around HK$650,000.

File photo: RTHK Cathay Pacific said on Wednesday it anticipated robust overall travel demand for the rest of the year, while acknowledging potential fluctuations on specific routes. Delivering its interim report card, Cathay said net profit rose 1 percent to HK$3.65 billion. Hong Kong's flagship carrier attributed the higher earnings to increased passenger numbers, lower fuel costs and steady cargo operations. Its chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, noted a significant 50 percent increase in summer flights to North America. She added that the airline will explore other potential markets. "Now we are turning a lot more, apart from Chinese mainland, we're also turning to Southeast Asia and for example India to get traffic, so as to keep filling up our flights," Lau said. "Obviously, as we continue to add supply, supply-demand balance got a bit better, fares might go down. I think that is totally expected, but that won't deter us from adding more supply and more choice for our customers." Meanwhile, Cathay announced plans to acquire 14 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, securing options for seven more. The deal brought the order book of the twin-engine aircraft to 35. "Boeing has certainly had a troubled period in the recent past, but we are very encouraged by the renewed focus that Boeing leadership has on engineering and production quality," chief operations and service delivery officer Alex McGowan said. "We've seen that their test-flying programme has recommenced. They've got four test planes in operation now that have collectively flown 1,400 flights in over 4,000 hours. "The fifth aircraft commenced its testing cycle, so they're really making great progress with the testing of that aircraft, and we've got confidence that we will have our first Boeing 777-9 in 2027." Cathay's low-cost carrier, HK Express, posted a half-year loss of HK$524 million. Cathay's chief executive officer Ronald Lam said the loss was attributed to temporary shifts in customer preferences away from key destinations like Japan – impacted by earthquake concerns earlier – and the typical maturation period required for newly launched routes. But he said flights to Japan have been picking up again, and that he believes the new routes will become profitable once demand picks up. "By launching these new routes, we also diversify our network away from just Japan," Lam said. "Japan was like close to 50 percent of HK Express' frequency and network, but now its weighting is reducing as we launch more flights to places like Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and Chinese mainland. "In the long run, we believe we will have a more balanced network that will be able to diversify our risk across different destinations."
