Kate hailed as UK fashion advocate as she wears Victoria Beckham outfit
The Princess of Wales was hailed as a 'real style icon' as she stepped out to celebrate young British fashion talent wearing a Victoria Beckham outfit.
Kate looked stylish in a trouser suit by the former Spice Girl turned designer as she presented a prestigious industry award to emerging creative Patrick McDowell.
The future queen's choice of outfit is likely to be seen by royal commentators as a subtle show of support for the designer and husband, ex-England footballer David Beckham, who are reportedly embroiled in a family feud.
Winning designer McDowell was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design which recognises a designer displaying exceptional talent alongside eco-policies and showing value to the community.
After beginning with off-cuts of Burberry material, he now runs a luxury sustainable fashion brand that has dressed singer Lady Gaga and actresses Keira Knightley and Sarah Jessica Parker.
The designer said about Kate: 'I think throughout her tenure she's been an amazing advocate for British brands and she really flies the flag for British fashion.
'She always looks incredible, is a real style icon and so it's extra special that I've received the award from her today.'
Kate's outfit details were not revealed by her office but her olive green flared trouser suit was widely named online as Victoria Beckham's creation and she fitted in among the designers as she toured the event hosted by the British Fashion Council (BFC) at London's 180 Studios.
The future queen is making a gradual return to public royal duties after completing her cancer treatment and her visit to the cultural centre in the Strand, central London was not announced in advance.
McDowell had created his studio at the venue and the princess seemed engrossed as she questioned the designer's team, as they sowed sequins or added fabric to a dress, and spoke to models wearing some of his outfits.
Kate was shown a pattern for a new style of jacket called Wales Bar and when she asked 'why Wales?' was told it was named in her honour.
She also met and saw the work of the fashion industry's next generation who are benefiting from the BFC Foundation's designer initiatives.
Kate asked a group of creatives including designer Joshua Ewusie: 'Do you think there's enough people going into the creative industries, are there enough opportunities?'
Mr Ewusie said later: 'I told her the British Fashion Council are doing a lot to really develop the next generation.'
Before leaving Kate posed for a photograph with the winning designer who introduced her to close family and friends.
McDowell described winning the award as a 'huge privilege and honour'.

We, meanwhile, have become the poorly dressed man of Europe. British men have forgotten how to dress for the sun and stock our summer wardrobes with football shirts, muscle tees, bucket hats, skinny jeans, ¾-length trackies and oversized sunglasses. Our identity crisis is a national disgrace. On Spanish beaches our kids don't bury us in the sand because it's fun. They bury us because they're embarrassed by us, like cats burying their mess. Not so long ago, summer used to be a stress-free affair for men of my age — I'm 55. On beaches we disappeared into the background, unnoticeable behind expanding midriffs and cloaks of matted body hair. We sat behind windbreaks, vests on, knotted hankies on head, trousers rolled up, reading the Racing Post. I'm a men's fashion expert - these style mistakes are ruining your look and could even damage expensive items No one expected anything of us. Women fretted about swimwear while we were allowed to gracefully surrender into middle-age spread. We only had two beach role models, Peter Stringfellow with his thong, and David Hasselhoff, who spent half the 1980s sucking in his stomach and the other half driving a talking car. But today more is expected of us. Blame social media if you want. The world has moved on. Men are expected to care more about how they dress. But in the UK it seems we didn't get the memo and while Europeans got more stylish, British blokes spun off at a tangent, like a divergent timeline in Marvel's Loki series. But you can do better. I didn't realise and was frog-marched from the pool by lifeguards who made me purchase tight trunks from a vending machine. Walking back into the pool in my tiny new Lycra swimwear was like the walk of shame in Game Of Thrones. Today a 5-inch inseam is as daring as I get (which is good style advice for any man). My fashion salvation happened after I met a younger, stylish woman, who is now my wife. Stephanie, 45, knocked me into shape and taught me how to dress. It didn't take a lot of effort and I even get compliments occasionally from my 23-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son. So, as you head off for your hols, take a few tips from me. Ditch the football shirts, no one in Mykonos cares about Burnley FC. Ditch anything with big logos on it. Wear leather sandals or espadrilles. Choose linen or seersucker short-sleeved shirts. You can't go wrong with a polo shirt and tailored shorts in neutral palettes. Replace your battered baseball cap with a Panama hat. Treat yourself to some understated sunglasses. Bodies should get some attention too. Before 2006, we could get away with a hairy dad bod, but then the film Casino Royale hit the big screen, and when Daniel Craig emerged from the sea like God chiselled from marble he ruined it for all of us. Now we're expected to look presentable in swimwear. So, get your back waxed, manscape your chest hair. Have a fake tan, but don't go mad. Ask for a light one. Get your eyebrows shaped and tinted. It's not unusual any more and makes a big difference, I promise. No one is going to think any less of you. Maybe swap a pint for a glass of rosé occasionally, or a mojito. Just a few small tweaks and the new stylish you will fit right in on beaches from the Costas to the Greek islands. Make the UK cool again, just don't mention Brexit. Exhibition launched to mark 250th anniversary of the birth of JMW Turner
The link between JMW Turner and the landscapes that inspired him is to be the focus of an exhibition being held to mark the 250th anniversary of his birth. Petworth House in West Sussex, where the artist visited on many occasions between 1827 and 1837, is hosting the exhibition, which adds to its own collection, which is the largest display of his work outside of London. A National Trust spokeswoman said: 'With an additional rarely seen pieces, the exhibition includes oil paintings and works on paper, on loan from Tate and several private lenders. 'They give a fascinating insight into Turner's artistic approach, his experiments with colour, light and atmosphere – as well as his relationship with Petworth and Petworth's owner, George O'Brien Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont. ' Visitors can explore the Lancelot 'Capability' Brown designed parkland at Petworth to see the landscape which had such an impact on Turner.' Dr Emily Knight, property curator at Petworth House: 'Turner produced an astonishing body of work at Petworth. From the numerous small sketches to the finished oil paintings, the landscape became an enduring source of inspiration. 'The exhibition will add to people's understanding of Petworth and show how it played a significant role in his life and career.' Along with the exhibition, Petworth will be hosting a number of events, including a Summer Solstice evening on June 21 and a series of creative workshops led by West Dean College. John Chu, the National Trust's senior national curator for paintings, said: 'Petworth was an inspiration for Turner over several decades. 'The unique combination of landscape, art and friendship he enjoyed there left an indelible mark on his creativity. The artworks in this exhibition will be a rare opportunity to see the place through his eyes and hopefully be an inspiration for our visitors too.' The exhibition called Turner's Vision At Petworth runs from June 21 to November 16 2025.

Pregnant Sophie Habboo and her husband Jamie Laing looked loved-up as they attended their Candy Day event in London on Thursday. The former Made In Chelsea stars, 30 and 36, beamed as they celebrated Jamie's sweet brand Candy Kittens in style. Sophie, who is expecting their first child, was glowing as she showcased her blossoming baby bump in a black floral midi dress. Jamie kept things effortlessly stylish in a white top and grey trousers, finishing the look with a green cap. Also at the event were pals Paloma Faith, Matt Edmondson, and Melissa Tattam. The event comes after Sophie revealed on her and Jamie's newly named podcast NearlyParents, that she has struggled with some aspects of her pregnancy. She confessed that when her second trimester hit, she felt like she was 'dying' and was dealing with a lot of hormones that made her frequently feel irritated. 'This girl has gone from a bit of a b***h to don't come near me,' she quipped. 'Up until week eight, I was smooth sailing. No good aversions, no sickness, so much energy, I was like what is every talking about this is unbelievable. 'Week eight hit and everyone's starting to grate to me a bit. Like that man sat next to me on the plane breathing, like is it illegal if I punch him in the face? 'If you're a fan of the podcast, I love you so much but you're not going to like me if you meet me at the moment.' Jamie said he struggled to get his head around Sophie's mood changes with pregnancy, recalling: 'I asked Sophie if she had any cravings and she said, ''No, the only craving I have is hating you''. 'I then spent an evening on Reddit looking at "Why does your wife hate her husband so much when they're pregnant". He went on: 'Sophie is teaching me to drive and I'm a little bit nervous in the car and she goes "You're a s**t driver". I'm literally in my head going "Oh my god she hasn't eaten this is really scary". 'Sophie then gets so angry she says to me "I'm so angry I want to drive us both into the back of this car and kill us". And then she started crying!' Sophie confessed that the 'anger is uncontrollable' but that it 'was very fleeting' as she lamented how her 'enormous t*ts' also meant she couldn't fit in any of her clothes. Jamie candidly told listeners how he owed her a real apology after not taking her hormones seriously and threatening to leave her over her 'grumpiness'. Sophie said: 'Jamie was like "Oh you're just milking it, you fake all your hormones, there's no such thing". He went "Oh you're just faking all of this." I was like "Oh my god" as I'm lying there with my enormous t*ts out and I can't fit into a single thing.' Recalling the incident in question, she went on: 'We are leaving and I feel really sick this day and Jamie gets his camera out and goes "I'm going to vlog today". Like on my Sunday that I'm about to vomit all day long. 'And what happened was Jamie sits down and he goes "I'm going to call my friends and ask them what I should do about this. Because I'm going to have to leave you. I'm going to leave you because you're just so unbearable right now."' Jokingly pretending to break down in tears, she shared: 'And I went "You're going to leave me and I'm pregnant".' In defence of his actions, Jamie quickly added: 'The amount of people who are going to call me an a*****e. Just a caveat to add - I had no idea the emotional journey that you go on, how your body changes. It comes after the couple took to their podcast to tell their fans all about their impeding parenthood for the first time, where Sophie revealed some of the struggles she'd been dealing with in her pregnancy 'I just didn't understand the extreme things that go on and since having read stuff on Instagram, I am awe of what you go through. The hormone change is wild.' Showing their Chelsea roots, the couple also revealed that Sophie's worst craving so far was for caviar, recounting how they had dashed around London trying to find a shop that was open at 8pm. Jamie explained they eventually found a caviar store only to discover a single pot cost £240, as he declared: 'I was like "Well that craving has to stop there and then". Sophie revealed that after some Googling, she learned it is recommended that pregnant people avoid the expensive delicacy due to the risks of bacteria and mercury. However, she confessed that the risks were the only thing that stopped her from eating it, otherwise, she would not have allowed the hefty price tag to put her off.
