Bengals Burrow Warns NFL That He Is Capable of More

Bengals Burrow Warns NFL That He Is Capable of More originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Cincinnati Bengals are not satisfied with their 9-8 record and absence from playoff contention last year.
Even star quarterback Joe Burrow - who had a career-best season statistically - feels he can do better.

As the Bengals wrapped up OTAs and minicamp, Burrow heads into the break with a growth mindset for training camp, focusing on the, apparently many, areas he can improve.
"There's room to improve in every area," Burrow said to broadcaster Dan Hoard. "Movement, accuracy, spin rate, bigger, faster, stronger – all of those good things."
Last season, Who Dey faithful still saw a lot of good things from their dynamic duo of Burrow and receiver Ja'Marr Chase.
Burrow led the NFL in passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43) on a wildly efficient 70 percent completion.
Chase became just the 13th receiver ever to accomplish the "triple crown" by leading the league in all three major categories, receptions (127), yards (1,708) and touchdowns (17).

In the end, of course, it wasn't good enough. Cincinnati went on a five-game win streak to close out the season, but still barely finished above .500 and missed the playoffs.
For a tandem like Burrow and Chase who have made a Super Bowl once before, there is no season that will satisfy their hunger unless it ends with the Lombardi Trophy in arms.
Burrow, now 28 years old, is entering sixth season in the league and believes he still has a lot to prove in a tough AFC North.
With this mindset and a loaded offense at his disposal, Burrow is capable of putting last year's disappointing mark behind him.

This should be taken as a warning to the rest of the NFL. If the league's most productive and efficient quarterback believes he can up his accuracy and versatility? Defenses are in trouble.
If he can continue his upward trajectory, Bengals fans should see "all those good things" even more this season.
According to Burrow's last Instagram post, that breakthrough will be "coming soon".

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Reveals Concern Level Over Travis Kelce In 2025

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Reveals Concern Level Over Travis Kelce In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be tasked with leading the revenge tour in 2025, and he's going to need his No. 1 go-to guy to follow him. Advertisement After a poor season, from a statistical standpoint, some think tight end Travis Kelce doesn't have much juice in the tank, yet the future Hall of Famer is coming back for a 13th NFL season. Considering Travis had his lowest yards total (823) and touchdowns (three) since his rookie season, there is a need for Kelce to remind the football world he's still got it. But while some are skeptical about what Kelce can do in 2025, Patrick isn't. "I expect Travis to be Travis," Mahomes said."Obviously, the play on the field is going to be high, he's going to go out there with the mentality that we're trying to win the Super Bowl this year. I think more than anything, it's the leadership that he brings to the building every single day, how he leads by example. It's a big impact on our football team. I expect him to play at a high level and be an even better leader." Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Medley-Imagn Images So Mahomes doesn't seem concerned and after all, he is the one who sees Travis work day in and day out, but for most, until the tight end proves it on the field, there are going to be question marks over how valuable he can be to Andy Reid's offense. Advertisement He's reportedly dropped 25 pounds and has come into minicamp leaner than last season, in an attempt to get back into the sort of shape that will allow him to be "Kelce" again. If the Chiefs are going to avenge their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and claim it for themselves, then Kelce is going to have to be the Pro Bowl tight end we know him to be. And Mahomes has zero doubt that's who we'll get. Grizzlies-Trail Blazers Trade Report Surfaces After Zach Edey News

Grizzlies-Trail Blazers Trade Report Surfaces After Zach Edey News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After their first-round loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies have officially shifted their focus to the offseason and what could be next in store for the team. Advertisement The Grizzlies have quite a few major decisions to make in the offseason. This is especially true after the team recently announced that big man Zach Edey underwent ankle surgery and will be re-evaluated in four months, meaning there is a chance he misses the beginning of the 2025-26 NBA season (h/t Grizzlies PR on X). With Edey's outlook for next season a bit uncertain, Memphis may have to bolster its roster to make up for his potential absence. On Friday, a recent report surfaced between the Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers that could land them the reinforcement they need. Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey (14).© Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Once the offseason officially begins, the Grizzlies will be a team to monitor in the trade market as they look to return to the top of the Western Conference and re-establish themselves as title contenders. It remains to be seen who they may pursue, but recent reports have linked them to a current Trail Blazers forward: Deni Avdija (h/t Chris Dodson of Clutch Points). Advertisement According to Dodson, the 24-year-old "has emerged as a trade target" for Memphis. However, Dodson also reports that no deal is imminent. "Although it is understood that no deal is imminent, Deni Avdija (Portland Trail Blazers) has emerged as a trade target for the Grizzlies in multiple conversations with league sources. In his first season with the Trail Blazers, Avdija averaged 16.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1 steal while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.5% from the three-point line. Somebody like Avdija could be a good addition for Memphis. If they do land a trade for him, it would give the Grizzlies the flexibility to move Jaren Jackson Jr. at the center position more often while Edey is out. Advertisement While he may not be a flashy name, Avdija might be a fantastic trade target for the Grizzlies. However, because nothing is official just yet, this will be something worth monitoring throughout the offseason. Jaguars' CB Tyson Campbell Facing Career Crossroads

Jaguars' CB Tyson Campbell Facing Career Crossroads originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Jacksonville Jaguars ended the 2024 NFL regular season with a disappointing 4-13 record. They'll be hoping to bounce back in the upcoming season with Trevor Lawrence leading the pack. Advertisement However, the Jaguars' quarterback is not the Pro Football Focus' (PFF) pick for Jacksonville's make-or-break player for the 2025 season. Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell (3)Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union PFF's Dalton Wasserman has handed that tag to 25-year-old cornerback Tyson Campbell instead. "Campbell is entering the first season of a four-year contract extension that pays him an annual average of more than $19 million. However, Campbell needs to return to the 2022 form that led to an excellent 80.7 PFF coverage grade in order to justify it," he wrote. "Over the past two seasons, he has recorded a far more mediocre 60.3 PFF coverage grade. Campbell isn't leaving Jacksonville anytime soon, but the defense needs him to play like a star this year after ranking 25th in the NFL in team PFF coverage grade last season." Advertisement The Jaguars drafted Tyson Campbell as the 33rd overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He started 15 games that season, recording 49 solo tackles and two interceptions after a slow start. The Georgia Bulldogs product followed it up with 55 solo tackles and three interceptions the following season. He made his first postseason appearance that season. After an impressive 2022-23 season, Campbell was sidelined for a total of six weeks due to a hamstring and quadriceps injury the next year. The Jaguars handed him a four-year, $76.5 million extension last offseason. Campbell suffered another hamstring injury in the Week 1 contest against the Miami Dolphins and had to sit out for five weeks. He played 12 games last season and charted 42 solo tackles, matching his tally from the previous season. Advertisement The Jaguars would hope to see a healthier and more reliable Campbell in the upcoming season to boost their chances for a deep run into the postseason. The veteran CB has looked in great shape this offseason. The Jaguars' defensive coordinator, Anthony Campanile, heaped praise on Campbell after day 2 of the mandatory minicamp on June 12, saying, "I am really, really fired up about everything he's done this offseason because he's competed so hard in the practices. He's fighting for every rep, whether it's at the top of the route, on the line of scrimmage, in the break area." The Jaguars' star needs to replicate his offseason performance on the gridiron when he suits up for his fifth NFL season. Jacksonville must make massive defensive improvements if it wants to clinch the AFC South, and Campbell will play a key role in this effort.
