Vidarbha Water Conference
from June 7-9 at Vanamati Auditorium. The poster unveiling of the conference was done by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Acting vice-chancellor Madhavi Khode Chaware, governor-nominated Management Council member Samay Bansod, Academic Council members Vijay Ilorkar and Shubhangi Nakshine were present during the poster unveiling.
The Vidarbha Water Conference will feature a Drinking Water Conference on June 7. A panel discussion on "challenges and solutions for drinking water in Vidarbha" will be held on the inaugural day. Research papers by students and water researchers will also be presented.
Agricultural Water Conference will be held on June 8, starting with a panel discussion on "current situation, problems, and solutions for agricultural water in Vidarbha". The second panel discussion on the same topic will be held along with a presentation of success stories of water management in Vidarbha. A screening and competition of reels created by students on "water issues and solutions in Vidarbha" will also be held.

The Industrial Water Conference is scheduled for June 9 and will involve a panel discussion on "water issues, challenges, and solutions in the industrial sector", followed by a second panel discussion. The awards ceremony and closing event will be held later in the day.

This highway will be connected to Vadhan Port shortly. Chief Minister Fadnavis said that land has been acquired for the Samruddhi Highway in record time. Due to this route, 24 districts of the state, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra, have been connected to JNPT port; now, this highway will be connected to Vadhan port. Rs 55 thousand 335 crore has been spent on this 701 km long highway. According to an official release, the 76-kilometre route of the Samruddhi Highway passes through Nashik and Thane districts. The Sahyadri mountain range in this area has made it a very difficult route for the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation to overcome this engineering challenge. The tunnel near Igatpuri is eight kilometres long, the longest in the state, and the widest in the country. The Forest Department has decided to plant trees on the Palkhi route along the Samruddhi Highway. One thousand farm ponds have been created due to this highway. GAIL has laid a gas pipeline along the highway. Gas can be delivered to the newly developed Steel City Gadchiroli through this. Religious and tourist places are also connected through this route. CM targets planting 10cr saplings this yr to boost forest cover
Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday set a target of planting 10 crore saplings in the current year to enhance the forest cover across the state. "We will have to launch a people's tree plantation movement to achieve the target of green Maharashtra in a time-bound period. Next year too, we will plant an equal number of saplings," Fadnavis said. He held a marathon meeting with senior bureaucrats, all divisional commissioners and collectors, on drafting a strategy for enhancing the forest cover. Additional chief secretary (forest) Milind Mhaiskar made an impressive presentation on the measures to be taken for enhancing forest cover in a time-bound period. While the current forest cover is 21.25%, additional 240 crore saplings will have to be planted to achieve the target of 33% forest cover. According to a senior bureaucrat, every department has been given a specific target, which will be completed before the ensuing monsoon. "We have set a target of 11 crore saplings. In view of our past experience, it should not be difficult to achieve the target," he said.
