Air India Express Passenger To Delhi Lands In Bhubaneswar, Probe Ordered
An Air India Express passenger, who was to get down at Delhi airport, inadvertently continued his journey in the same aircraft to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, and the airline said it is investigating the matter to address any lapses.
A source in the know on Thursday said the male passenger took the flight from Srinagar to Delhi and instead of getting down in the national capital, the person was onboard the flight to Bhubaneswar. Both services were operated by the same aircraft. The matter came to light after the person informed the crew, the source added.
Specific details about the passenger and the aircraft could not be immediately ascertained.
In a statement on Thursday, the airline said that on July 30, a passenger transiting through Delhi on another flight inadvertently continued on the aircraft onward to Bhubaneswar.
"An internal investigation is being conducted to identify and address any lapses, while reiterating SOPs and internal briefings across stations to prevent recurrence," it said.
Generally, airline staff check the boarding passes and baggage of passengers in connecting flights at the particular transit airports as part of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

10 country-made bombs seized in Outer Delhi: 2 years on, cops dispose of them
More than two years after 10 country-made bombs were seized at an abandoned plot in Outer Delhi's Holambi Kalan area, the bombs were finally disposed of on Sunday, said police. 'The Bomb Disposal Squad and the National Security Guard (NSG) carried out proper inspection and neutralisation procedures as per the established safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all 10 country-made bombs were disposed of for the purpose of further investigation and necessary action,' DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said. Apart from the teams from the NSG, Bomb Disposal Squad, FSL (Rohini) teams had also come at the spot where the bombs were buried after a letter was sent by the police for the disposal of the bombs. According to the police, the bombs were seized on April 10, 2023, at an abandoned plot at Metro Vihar area in Holambi Kalan. The police had received a tip-off that a man named Deepak, 33, was in possession of country-made grenades. Deepak was apprehended the same night, and led the police to the plot where he had hidden a grey bucket, filled with 10 country-made bombs. 'Deepak told the police that he was given the bucket about 10 days back by his neighbour, who asked him to keep it safe for some money,' a police officer said. The neighbour, along with two more suspects were arrested by the police and are currently undergoing trial, a police official said. Deepak was released late. A case was registered under the Explosives act and section 286 of the Indian Penal Code at Narela Industrial Area police station in April 2023. 'The bombs were disposed of after the officials felt that the probe had reached a level where the explosives may no longer be needed for an investigation,' the officer added.

According to the media reports, Hussain Ahmed Majumdar, a 32-year-old resident of Cachar district in Assam, of which Silchar is the headquarters, had boarded a flight from Mumbai to Kolkata and was supposed to take another flight from there to Silchar the next day. Mr Majumdar was on an IndiGo flight 6E-138 from Mumbai to Silchar when he had a panic attack and was being helped by airhostesses. He was being taken down the aisle when a fellow passenger, Hafijul Rahman, slapped him. In the viral video, Mr Rahman can be seen assaulting Mr Majumdar. After the flight reached Kolkata, Mr Rahman was detained and handed over to the police, but was released later. Mr Majumdar also left the airport. On Friday, the shocking incident occurred onboard IndiGo flight 6E138 from Mumbai to Kolkata, when a passenger was allegedly assaulted mid-air by a fellow traveller while receiving assistance from the crew. Meanwhile, IndiGo released a statement strongly condemning the incident, stating that such unruly behaviour is completely unacceptable. "We are aware of an incident involving a physical altercation on board one of our flights. Such unruly behaviour is completely unacceptable, and we strongly condemn any actions that compromise the safety and dignity of our passengers and crew," he said. "Our crew acted in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. The individual involved was identified as unruly and handed over to the security authorities upon arrival. All appropriate regulatory agencies have been duly informed, in line with protocol. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment on all our flights," the statement read further.

On Saturday, he was located at a railway station in Barpeta, about 400 kilometres from his hometown Katigorah. The officer in charge of the Katigorah police station confirmed, 'The individual arrived at Barpeta in Assam after the flight landed in Kolkata. He took the train to Barpeta and is now on his way to Silchar.'The incident first drew attention when a video surfaced online, showing Mazumdar visibly distressed on board IndiGo flight 6E-2387.
