Helicopter repair facility at Honda to start in 3 months: CM

on Thursday said that the helicopter repair and overhaul facility at Honda in Sattari will commence its operation within three months. He said that infrastructure work at the facility had been completed.
'Within three months, the facility will commence operations. It will generate employment in the state,' Sawant said.
Last week, the CM held discussions with defence minister
Rajnath Singh
and urged him to commence operations as soon as possible. Singh assured the CM that operations would start.
Almost nine years after the foundation stone was laid for the helicopter repair and overhaul facility at Honda, the plant is yet to be made operational.
The construction was delayed due to Covid, there was not much progress. Last year, the work resumed and work is now complete.
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and French aerospace giant Safran have signed an MoU to extend cooperation and explore opportunities for new helicopter engines in civil and military markets. HAL, the defence public sector undertaking, and Safran have set up Helicopter Engines MRO Pvt Ltd (HEMRO) as a joint venture to repair TM333 and Shakti gas turbine engines.

The Shakti engine is installed on HAL's advanced light helicopter known as 'Dhruv' and its variants, including 'Rudra' and light combat helicopter.
The Ardiden 1U engine powers the new light utility helicopter, a 3-tonne single-engine aircraft.
Former defence minister Manohar Parrikar laid the foundation stone for the project in July 2016, but the Goa Industrial Development Corporation gave the green signal to transfer the land to the aerospace firm only in Dec 2017.
HAL acquired the assets of the defunct Goa Automobile Accessories Ltd for Rs 7 crore, and with Safran India, will invest Rs 170 crore to set up HEMRO.
India's armed forces are among the largest operators of Safran-designed helicopter engines, with over 1,000 engines operational across the country, including 250 TM333 and over 500 Shakti engines. Shakti is the Indian variant of the Safran Ardiden 1H1, co-developed with HAL.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh told NDTV he was 'inspired' by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he got software giants Cognizant and Tata Consultancy Service to invest in the state, by offering to lease land at Re 1 and 99 paise, respectively. The reference to the PM was a throwback to when he, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, brought Tata Motors to the state by offering land at Re 1. Nara Lokesh also declared his 99p offer open to other big IT giants, the top 100 in the world, in fact, and called it a signal of the state's intent to become a leading destination for technological advancement. He said Andhra Pradesh had no objection to the Kaleshwaram irrigation project and reiterated Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's stance that both Telugu states must prosper together. He said his government is "not here to steal anything from Telangana". On his 'redbook', which reportedly contains records of alleged wrongduring by the YSRCP when it was in power, he said officers who violated the law had been suspended and those who broke it will "face the music". He cited instances of land-grabbing and the unlawful takeover of assets like Kakinada Port. On the subject of sharp political exchanges in Andhra, Lokesh said the TDP had never sought to defame individuals or families. He highlighted action was taken against a TDP worker who 'crossed the line', while alleging Jagan Reddy never took action when his mother was attacked and his wife insulted. Lokesh then accused Jagan Reddy of supporting violence, contrasting it with his party's disciplined approach and focus on people's issues, a philosophy, he said, was responsible for its victory in 2024; the party secured 94 per cent of the seats and even denied Jagan Reddy Leader of Opposition status.

Earlier on Friday, several houses were damaged and vehicles were washed away due to the cloudbursts and heavy rainfall in the state over the last 24 hours. At least 37 people have died and Rs 400 crore worth of property was damaged as torrential rains disrupted life across Himachal Pradesh, according to the state Disaster Management Authority. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for the state until July 7. According to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority and the Revenue Department, the state has suffered damages amounting to more than Rs 400 crore due to incessant monsoon rains. Search, rescue, and relief operations are underway, particularly in the worst-hit Mandi district, where several roads remain blocked and essential services are disrupted. "We have recorded over Rs 400 crore in losses so far, as entered in our system. But the actual damage is likely to be much higher," said DC Rana, Special Secretary of the State Disaster Management Authority and the Revenue Department, while speaking to the media on Wednesday. "Our primary focus at the moment is on search, rescue, and restoration. Detailed damage assessment will take time," he added. The worst-affected area remains Thunag subdivision of Mandi, where major restoration efforts are in progress.
