Panaji, Jun 26 (PTI) Police have arrested three men and detained a minor boy for allegedly throwing ganja rolled into balls in the premises of the high-security Central Jail in North Goa district, officials said.
An investigation indicated that four persons, including a minor boy, threw the 'ganja balls' in the jail premises from outside the compound wall in the wee hours of Tuesday, he said.
The police have arrested Gautam Talwar, Samuel Pujari and Jaffer Mulla, all from Mapusa town in North Goa, and apprehended the juvenile in this connection, the official said.
The accused have been booked under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the police added. PTI RPS GK

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], June 26 (ANI): The Enforcement Directorate's Chandigarh Zone seized two vehicles worth around Rs 32 lakh, over 40 bank accounts, fixed deposits, and three lockers linked to Assistant Drug Controller in Dharamshala, Nishant Sareen, and his family. The searches were carried out on June 22-23 at seven places in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab in a case related to misuse of position, corruption, and bribery. As per the statement from Enforcement Directorate, 'Enforcement Directorate's Chandigarh Zone has seized two vehicles worth approximately Rs 32 lakhs, more than 40 bank accounts and Fixed Deposit receipts and three lockers belonging to Nishant Sareen (presently posted as Assistant Drug Controller, Dharamshala) and his family members during searches conducted on June 22-23 at seven residential, commercial premises and Government office located in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab in a case related to misuse of official position for personal benefits and corruption and bribery while being posted as Assistant Drug Controller, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.' The ED also found over 60 unaccounted liquor bottles at his home in New Chandigarh. 'Additionally, more than 60 unaccounted liquor bottles were also found at his residence at Omaxe Cassia, New Chandigarh,' the statement reads. Earlier on Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at 18 places in Karnataka in connection with the 'engineering seat blocking scam' in private engineering colleges in Bengaluru, sources said. ED's Bengaluru office is conducting the search operation at the premises of the accused colleges, the trustee of BMS College and their main associates, the offices and residences of a few private education consultants, and a few seat-blocking agents. Agency officials said that the main accused in this case are the Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah (BMS) College of Engineering, Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology, and New Horizon College of Engineering.'These colleges and their associates are suspected of being involved in financial irregularities related to the seat allocation process.' Yadav, a native of Rewari in Haryana, passed the sensitive information to a female Pakistani handler who had posed as an Indian woman, inspector general of police (CID-security) Vishnu Kant Gupta said. He was arrested on Wednesday in Jaipur and will now face a joint investigation involving multiple agencies. 'Yadav confessed to receiving approximately ₹ 2 lakh in total for the information he passed on. This included ₹ 50,000 for leaking information related to Operation Sindoor,' the IGP added, saying some of the payments had been made through cryptocurrency. 'He was lured by money and ended up leaking sensitive information from the Navy headquarters,' Gupta said. 'After monitoring his social media activity and confirming his links with a Pakistani handler, he was detained in Jaipur for joint interrogation involving multiple national agencies,' the IGP added. Yadav, who hails from Punsika village in Haryana's Rewari district, is also said to be addicted to online gaming, an addiction investigators believe may have contributed to his vulnerability in falling into the espionage trap. Forensic analysis of his mobile phone has revealed substantial evidence, including financial transactions, encrypted chats, and classified defence material shared with the handler, the report added. The probe is ongoing, with authorities examining his cryptocurrency dealings and further connections. New Delhi [India], June 26 (ANI): Addressing the state event to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025, on Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Delhi Police have arrested at least 1100 people involved in the drug trade in 2025. CM Gupta said, 'This year, in 2025, our Delhi Police has arrested at least 1100 people involved in the drug trade, cases have been registered against them, and all the narcotic drugs found have been seized...' She urged the government, police and society to work together against the drug menace in the national capital. 'The government, police, and society are all working to eradicate this, but we all need to work together as a team. I believe that when we all work together, the menace of drugs will be completely eliminated from society,' Rekha Gupta said. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Delhi Chief Minister addressed the media at Delhi Secretariat and shared the major policy decisions taken by the government ahead of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra during the holy month of Sawan. According to an official release, CM Gupta informed that the Delhi Cabinet has approved new reforms to ensure efficient and dignified service to Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva). The Chief Minister said that Kanwar service committees will now receive direct assistance from the government. While addressing the press conference, the CM stated that Kanwar committees will now receive grant-in-aid via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ending the old tender-based system, which was prone to corruption and substandard material supply. She emphasised, 'The move will enhance transparency and efficiency, ensuring better services for devotees. Only registered committees with valid PAN, bank details, and registration certificates will be eligible for the grant.' The Chief Minister further explained that Kanwar camps will be classified based on the tenting area and the number of days they operate. And committees will be eligible for a minimum grant of Rs 50,000 and a maximum of Rs 10 lakh. CM Gupta informed that 50% of the grant will be given in advance, and the remaining 50% will be released only after submission of the Utilisation Certificate (UC), verification with geo-tagged photos by SDM or Tehsildar, and complete audit documents.
