Driver arrested after pedestrian dies after being struck by a vehicle in Kingston, Ont.
Police arrested a driver for impaired driving after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Kingston, Ont. on Wednesday evening. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Bath Road, between Portsmouth Avenue and Sir John A MacDonald Boulevard at approximately 5:30 p.m. Police say the investigation has determined a vehicle travelling eastbound on Bath Road crossed over the median into the westbound lanes and then onto the sidewalk, where a pedestrian was struck. 'The pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries,' police said in a statement. 'The driver of the vehicle was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to Kingston Police Headquarters.' Investigators would like to speak with the owner of a Tesla vehicle who may have dashcam footage to assist the investigation. Police say the Tesla was stopped in a line of traffic at a red light at the intersection of Bath Road and Gardiners Road at approximately 5:25 p.m. 'The Tesla was in the eastbound lanes of Bath Road,' police said. 'A black coloured Hyundai Elantra made an illegal maneuver at the intersection, narrowly missing the Tesla vehicle.' The owner of the Tesla is asked to contact Kingston Police Det. Const. Ford recalls 23,000 Explorer SUVs over risk of detaching parts

Puskar) Ford has issued a recall on more than 23,000 Explorer SUVs over risks of some parts detaching on the road. According to a Transport Canada notice last updated Tuesday, the recall includes 2016 and 2017 models of both the Explorer and the Police Interceptor Utility, a variant of the SUVs designed for use by law enforcement. 'On certain vehicles, the exterior B-pillar trims on the driver and front passenger doors may not be properly attached,' the notice reads. 'As a result, the trim(s) could loosen and separate from the vehicle.' Parts detaching from one vehicle may cause a hazard for others on the road and 'increase the risk of a crash,' it warns.

Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Kingston
Social Sharing An allegedly impaired driver in Kingston struck a pedestrian who later died on Wednesday evening, according to police. The driver's eastbound vehicle allegedly crossed westbound lanes before mounting the sidewalk and striking the pedestrian, according to a release from Kingston Police, who responded to the call around 5:30 p.m. The seriously injured pedestrian was transported to hospital where they later died, police said, without providing further details about their identity. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and detained. Police did not provide further details. Kingston police are seeking witnesses and the owner of a Tesla who may have dashcam footage. At approximately 5:25 p.m. the Tesla was stopped in eastbound lanes at a red light at Bath Road and Gardiners Road, when a black Hyundai Elantra "made an illegal manoeuvre at the intersection, narrowly missing the Tesla," police wrote in a press release.
