The Dorset town has seen stabbings, sexual assaults and murders soar in recent years.
The group have vowed to work alongside Dorset Police to make the streets safer.
But they have yet to be endorsed by the force and anti-racism campaigners claim they will target asylum seekers staying in the town's three migrant hotels.
They have already raised over £3,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to buy body cameras, stab vests and radios.
Safeguard Force say they will require all volunteers to undergo DBS checks and first aid training, claiming the group will be "non-political and inclusive".
In addition to patrols, the group is developing a mobile 'Safeguard App', an SOS-style tool to allow people to quickly request help if they feel vulnerable in public.
The group will wear a black uniform with a 'Safeguard Force' badge on the front and Safeguard Force written in white, block capitals on the back.
They are due to carry out their first patrols on Monday which will focus on Bournemouth, Boscombe, the beaches, gardens and surrounding areas.
Local Gary Bartlett, who set up the group says they will "protect the most vulnerable in our town - especially women, children and the elderly".
Mr Bartlett said: 'We're here to support our community and work alongside the police to make Dorset a safer place for everyone.
'Our volunteers are driven by a shared goal to protect and reassure, and we're excited about the impact our app and transport initiatives will have.
"Our volunteers have no more legal powers than any member of the public.
Our pretty town has become a ghetto plagued by machete-wielding yobs
"We are not a vigilante group and we do not engage in any unlawful activity.
"Our role is to be extra eyes and ears in the community, deter anti-social behaviour, and report issues to the police or relevant authorities."
Mr Bartlett declined to explain if the volunteers would physically intervene if they saw criminal acts.
Dorset Police confirmed it is aware of the group and has begun discussions with its organisers while assessing 'any risks and opportunities' they can bring.
Superintendent Pete Browning said: 'While the group hadn't engaged with us before launching, we have since reached out to them and had discussions about their plans, policies and process.
'We have asked to have further discussions in relation to their operating model, including reassurances around vetting processes, equipment carried, training provided and safeguarding policies.
'As a partnership, together with our local authority colleagues and others, we are continuing to assess the information, risks and opportunities community groups can bring.
"Therefore we are not in a position to support or endorse the group or their activities at this time.
"We will continue to engage with the organiser to ensure that they operate within the law.'
The force also pointed to existing volunteering roles such as the Special Constabulary and street pastors, where individuals are trained and vetted to support community safety.
The group's plans were praised by some locals on social media who said they would 'make Bournemouth safe again'.
Patrick F Kelly said: "What you are doing is wonderful.
"But, it's a very sad indictment of the state of affairs in the UK that it should be necessary for volunteers to keep the public safe.
"Decades of inept leadership has destroyed the very fabric of society."
However, pro-immigration group Stand Up To Racism said they feared the group would target asylum seekers and "risks fostering division and fear".
A spokesperson for BCP Stand Up To Racism said: "This is a vigilante group which seems to be targeting refugees and Muslim communities who they suggest are a threat to women and children.
"The presence of uniformed civilians acting on ideological motives risks fostering division and fear, rather than safety."

Man 'tries to put a chemical-laced handkerchief' over face of teenage boy
Willie Cowart, from Boston, is accused of a "bizarre" chemical assault after he approached a teenage boy on the streets of Roxbury on July 28, just after midday A 69-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to put a "chemical-laced handkerchief" over the face of a 13-year-old boy at a street corner. Willie Cowart, from Boston, is accused of the "bizarre" chemical assault after he approached the boy on the streets of Roxbury on July 28, just after midday. The teenager was waiting to be picked up "when an older man wearing a Hawaiian shirt approached, poured an unknown liquid on a red handkerchief, and tried to put the handkerchief over his mouth." The boy, who did not want to be identified, has been left "shaken" by the chemical attack, according to his parents. It comes as a British man was charged after 'trying to drown his daughter-in-law on dream family holiday.' "It's basically like facing your biggest fear. Like the way the guy was looking too," the teen told WBZ-TV. "My heart was beating fast and stuff. I was really scared." The teenager has been ordered not to go anywhere without his parents' supervision following the scary attack. "I can't go outside. My mum told me until I'm 20, to go outside by myself when school is finished, I can't stay after school," he said. Police searched the suspect's car and found chemical cleaning agents inside. "This is a strange, and extremely disturbing, set of facts," Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement Monday. "It doesn't take much imagination to appreciate how frightening it was for this young man to be standing on a street corner and suddenly be accosted in such a bizarre manner. I'm grateful that he suffered no apparent injuries." Cowart was arrested and charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said. He pleaded not guilty to the charge in court last Wednesday. The bizzare attack comes after a five-year-old girl covered in blood ran for help after witnessing her dad shoot her mum, grandma, and aunt dead - before turning the gun on himself. The horrific murder-suicide occurred at a home in Florida on the evening of July 24 after 34-year-old suspect Christopher Rowell was found dead alongside the three women. The three victims were identified as mum Marissa Rowell, 32; grandmother Sandra Fogarty, 71; and aunt Alisha Lael Fogarty, 33, according to a GoFundMe posted for the family. 'The family we lost were cherished individuals who brought joy and love to everyone around them,' relatives of the three women wrote in a fundraiser statement. 'We lost a devoted mother (Marissa Leara Rowell), who was a guiding light for her five-year-old daughter, a loving first-time grandmother (Sandra Gayle Fogarty) who waited her whole life to have a granddaughter in her life, and a devoted aunt (Alisha Lael Fogarty) who was crazy for her niece and loved spending hours playing games with her and being by her side like a sister,' the statement wrote. 'This child now faces a future without the warmth and loving support of her family, and we are committed to ensuring she receives the care and love she needs to heal from this traumatic incident,' the heartbroken family said.

'This child now faces a future without the warmth and loving support of her family, and we are committed to ensuring she receives the care and love she needs to heal from this traumatic incident,' the heartbroken family said. Police were informed of the horrific murder-suicide when the five-year-old girl ran into a neighbour's house begging for help after witnessing her family being killed. 'The child said she was in the back of the house, heard a gunshot,' Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said in a news conference. 'She came down the hallway, saw a female on the floor in the living room/dining room area — another female grabbed her and put her in the bathroom. When that individual was shot, she got blood splattered on her,' he said. Christopher Rowell was Melissa Rowell's husband, the victim's cousin Steven Hallmark, according to local media. Mr Hallmark told First Coast News he "knew instantly" who the shooter was. 'I was at work listening to the radio and I had heard the shooter's name and as soon as I heard his name, my heart just skipped, I knew instantly,' Hallmark told the outlet. 'My aunt just bought a house, and they were in the process of moving. Marissa was going to be leaving him, taking the kid,' he said. According to authorities, the shooter was still alive when police arrived, but later died in hospital from his inflicted gunshot wound.

Final tragic moments of boy, 15, who died on M60 ahead of Oasis gig
15-year-old Israel Iyabor tragically died after falling from a bridge over the M60 motorway in July, with emergency services called to the scene. An inquest has been launched into the death of a 15-year-old boy who tragically passed away on the M60 last month. Israel Iyabor, from Middleton, sadly lost his life after emergency services rushed to junction 20 of the motorway, near Blackley, on July 20. Greater Manchester Police revealed they had been alerted to the scene following reports of a 'concern for welfare'. The ring road was closed at around 4.30pm as emergency services dealt with what transport agencies described as a 'serious road traffic collision'. An inquest into his death commenced yesterday (August 7) at Rochdale Coroner's Court. It comes after a schoolboy, 13, has both legs amputated after 'getting cramp' at sports camp. During a brief hearing, Assistant Coroner Julie Mitchell confirmed that he had been living in Middleton and was 15 years old at the time of his death. The court was told that Israel was born in Italy and that his family relocated to the UK ten years ago. "A lady driving across the bridge on July 20 at Junction 20 on the M60 saw a young man fall from the railings," Ms Mitchell said. The teen was subsequently confirmed to be Israel, who was formally identified by his father the following day, reports the Manchester Evening News. A post-mortem examination revealed he had died from 'catastrophic brain injury'. The full inquest hearing has been scheduled for February 4, 2026, with the coroner requesting reports from a number of institutions including Israel's school and the local mental health services. The local community has been left in mourning following the news of his death, with dozens of floral tributes laid near the motorway junction where it happened. Sarah, Israel's sister, shared with the Manchester Evening News how the family were 'hysterical' upon hearing the devastating news. "When police broke the news we were very emotional. It was such a shock," she expressed. "Even now I am still shocked and trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. I feel people should check in on their loved ones - mental thing is a real thing. A lot of people do struggle. And you never know what someone is going through." To cover the costs of Israel's funeral, the family have set up a GoFundMe page which is close to reaching its goal. Israel was an avid footballer, playing for two local clubs, Manchester Panthers and Hyde United - the latter held a minute's silence in honour of Israel at their match against Curzon Ashton on July 22. A coach from Hyde United's junior football team also posted a heartfelt tribute to him on social media on July 21. "R.I.P Israel - totally heartbroken to have lost one of our own in such tragic circumstances," Dan Bollington penned on Facebook. "He was true heartbeat and popular member of the team, a true inspiration who had his whole life ahead of him. Never did anybody see what was to come. Gone but never to be forgotten, RIP Israel." He further added: "If anybody is ever struggling, please speak out. I will always be here and so will so many others to help you through any difficulties you may have." If you or anyone you know is struggling with their mental health, you can contact NHS 111 at any time to access support. To get urgent mental health support, call 111 and select option 2.
