RM182,000 worth of vapes seized in Tumpat raid
Southeast Brigade GOF commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the seizure was made after a 31-year-old man at the location failed to produce valid documents or a business licence from the Tumpat District Council (MDT) relating to the sale of electronic cigarettes.
"During the 1.45pm raid, which was conducted jointly with the council, checks uncovered an assortment of vape devices and liquids," he said in a statement today.
All seized items were handed over to the council for further action under Section 4(5)(c) of the MDT 2019 Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-laws.
In a separate incident, six people — including four illegal immigrants from Thailand — were detained at an unauthorised river jetty in Pangkalan Gergaji, Rantau Panjang, last night.
Ros Azhan said the suspects, aged between 19 and 44, were caught at 7pm during a patrol under Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan.
"Checks revealed that five of the suspects had no valid travel documents and were detained under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
"A Thai woman without any form of identification was also taken into custody and is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act," he said.
All suspects were taken to the Pasir Mas district police headquarters for further action.

Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali convicted Mangkok Mawa on his own guilty plea to a charge of causing death by negligence, framed under Section 304A of the Penal Code; and a charge of possessing a firearm without a permit, framed under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960. For the first charge under Section 304A, the accused was fined RM4,000 in default five months' jail, while for the second charge under Section 8(a), he was fined RM2,000 in default three months' imprisonment. He committed the offence at around 10am on July 23 at Kampung Engkeroh Mawang in Tebakang, Serian. Based on the facts of the case, police received a report from the public about a 52-year-old woman who had been shot dead in the village, and arrested Mangkok at about 2.40pm the same day. Seized from him were a shotgun, one spent cartridge, and a box containing nine live cartridges. Investigations revealed the accused was hunting squirrels in an orchard behind his house when he opened fire after mistaking the victim for an animal moving in the bushes. Ex-army veteran fined for submitting false claims
LABUAN (Aug 21): The Labuan Special Corruption Court today fined a former Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veteran RM48,000 after he pleaded guilty to 12 alternative charges of submitting false documents in claims exceeding RM336,000. Fairuzul Fazillah Musa, formerly attached to MAF Labuan, had initially been charged under Section 471, read with Section 468 of the Penal Code. He was accused of using forged documents as genuine in claims for local training and annual honorarium allowances between January 2015 and February 2016. The prosecution later offered 12 alternative charges under Section 471 read with Section 465 of the Penal Code, to which he pleaded guilty. Judge Jason Juga also imposed a fine of RM4,000 on each charge, in default four months' imprisonment, amounting to RM48,000, which was fully settled by the accused. Royal Thai Army says Cambodia must halt provocations instead of claiming victimhood
BANGKOK: Royal Thai Army spokesman Maj Gen Winthai Suvaree (pic) said Cambodia should stop portraying itself as a victim in the ongoing border conflict and instead cease all provocations that violate the ceasefire agreement. Winthai was responding to a Thursday (Aug 21) press conference by Cambodian Defence Ministry spokeswoman Maly Socheata, who alleged that Thailand continued to breach the ceasefire agreed during the General Border Committee meeting in Malaysia. Maly said Cambodia had strictly adhered to the truce by refraining from disseminating fake or distorted information, and she urged Thailand to do the same to create an atmosphere conducive to peace negotiations and the restoration of bilateral ties. She also called on Thailand to release 18 Cambodian soldiers detained on Thai soil. Thailand accuses Cambodia of breaching ceasefire terms Winthai countered that Cambodia, not Thailand, had repeatedly violated the ceasefire through actions including the deployment of PMN-2 landmines against Thai troops and the use of drones to spy on Thai territory. He cited an incident on Aug 19 when a Cambodian soldier disrupted an inspection by the Asean Interim Observer Team at Chong An Ma in Ubon Ratchathani, calling it further proof of Cambodian provocations.
