AMBER Alert suspect facing charges, teen still missing

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A 40-year-old man suspected to be traveling with a missing pregnant teen from Wisconsin is facing charges with her kidnapping after an AMBER Alert was issued on Tuesday for the missing pair.
Online reports state that 40-year-old Gary Day allegedly traveled to Wisconsin to abduct 16-year-old Sophia Franklin on Monday. Day is facing charges of two counts in Wisconsin of child enticement and two counts of abduction of a child on Wednesday.
The charges are related to the AMBER Alert for Franklin issued on Tuesday.
Arkansas authorities say suspect connected to Wisconsin AMBER Alert believed to be traveling to Lonoke Co.
The charges announced on Wednesday detail events along a six-month timeline, alleging Franklin ran away from home to meet up with Day after communicating with him online. Authorities said in a recorded interview that Franklin spoke to an Arkansas child advocacy center, and the pair waited until after she was brought to Arkansas to have sex because it was illegal in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Authorities said that most of the information used to prepare to charge Day came from details from that interview. During the interview, Franklin told the center that she was pregnant with Day's child and that Day was aware of her age.

Franklin's father told Wisconsin authorities that he and his wife became aware of his daughter talking to someone on Google Chat that they believed to be Day and that he threatened suicide.
Authorities said the online conversation was after a no-contact order against Day was issued on Franklin's behalf. After Franklin went missing on Monday, her father told authorities that he caught a man on his video security system coming to his home and disappearing behind the house.
The Lonoke County Sheriff's Office posted to social media on Tuesday the belief that Day and Franklin were traveling to Arkansas, potentially to the Austin area of Lonoke County. They were seen in a black 2014 Buick LaCrosse sedan with Arkansas plate number BBR 20L.
Authorities said the car's license plates may have been switched to avoid detection and it may have a Pennsylvania license plate.
Police said Franklin is a white 5 foot 9 inch woman, weighing about 186 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Day is a white 5 foot 7 inch tall white man, weighing about 165 pounds, with blonde/balding hair and green eyes.

Truck driver who searched how to smuggle drugs caught outside Las Vegas with 200 lbs. of cocaine, heroin: police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A truck driver who searched the internet about how to smuggle drugs across the border faces charges after police arrested him outside Las Vegas with more than 200 pounds of cocaine and heroin, documents said. On May 9, police patrolling Interstate 15 south of Las Vegas arrested Mark Delarge, 49, of Alberta, Canada, following a traffic stop. A detective first stopped Delarge, who was driving a semitruck in Jean, for traveling an estimated 75 mph in a 55-mile-per-hour work zone, police said. The detective noticed Delarge, who said he was returning to Canada from California, was nervous 'because his hands were shaking,' documents said. The detective called for a narcotics detector dog to search the truck, police said. The dog alerted police to 'odors of methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine.' Delarge then admitted there was cocaine in the vehicle,' documents said. 'Mark said that as he was traveling from Canada to Los Angeles, he had conducted an internet search for 'how to smuggle drugs across the border,'' police said. 'Mark began to go to different website[s] and eventually contact an individual on Facebook… who then agreed to have Mark pick up cocaine in the Riverside area and transport it back to Canada.' Inside the truck, police located several boxes of cocaine and heroin weighing a combined 201 pounds, documents said. A Clark County grand jury later voted to indict Delarge on four drug-trafficking-related charges, records said. During a grand jury return hearing, Clark County District Court Chief Judge Jerry Wiese set bail at $250,000. Delarge has remained in custody since his initial arrest. He was due to enter a formal plea in district court on June 16. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Teen killed in multi-vehicle crash in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A teen was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in south St. Louis on Thursday. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), officials were alerted to the crash just before 10:40 a.m. on westbound I-44 near Arsenal Street. Investigators reported that before the crash, a Toyota Avalon was driving westbound at high speeds. Police say the driver of the Toyota, who was later identified as an 18-year-old male, lost control of the vehicle. The car ended up rotating as it was changing lanes, ultimately T-boning a Ford F250. SLMPD reported that the driver's side of the Toyota was stuck under the rear of the Ford F250. And when arriving at the crash, officials said the 18-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford F250 sustained no injuries, according to officials. SLMPD says an investigation into the fatal crash is underway. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
