Michael Jordan to join NBC's team for NBA broadcasts during the 2025-26 season
The G.O.A.T. is headed to the broadcast studio.
NBC Universal announced Monday that six-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan will join the studio's coverage of the NBA this fall.
The Chicago Bulls legend will be a 'special contributor' to NBC's broadcasts beginning in October. NBC made the announcement during an Upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall, mimicking Jordan's legendary announcement of his return from retirement by flashing a message on the screen: 'I'm back.'
'I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,' Jordan said in a statement. 'The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career and I'm excited about being a special contributor to the project. I'm looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.'
Decades after his final retirement, Jordan's presence is still inescapable throughout the NBA. He was a majority owner in the Charlotte Hornets before selling in 2023 and drove discourse during the release of ESPN's 10-part documentary 'The Last Dance' in 2020. His shoe brand remains the standard bearer for the league.
But the former Bulls star has never dabbled in sports media. At 62, Jordan will be making his debut as a broadcaster. NBC has not shared details of how Jordan will contribute, including whether he will be in a studio, arena or working remotely from home.
NBC was one of the NBA's primary broadcasters for the prime years of Jordan's career, including his six-trophy run in the 90s. But the company has not held broadcast rights for the league since 2002, paving the way for TNT to take over.
That changed this year, when the league entered into a new exclusive rights deal with Amazon, ESPN and NBC. The final game of the Eastern Conference Finals will be the last game broadcast on TNT.

Nicki Minaj disses Shannon Sharpe on ‘Made In NO' remix
The post Nicki Minaj disses Shannon Sharpe on 'Made In NO' remix appeared first on ClutchPoints. Nicki Minaj's remix of Lil Wayne's 'Banned From NO' from his Carter VI album featured some interesting lyrics addressing Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe has been a permanent fixture in the news for the past few months and it's clear that Minaj has been paying attention as she said, 'If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that sharp.' Minaj took to her X account after the song was released to bring even more attention to the diss, playfully trolling both Sharpe and his Nightcap co-host Chad Ochocinco, saying: 'If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that sharp!!!! Yeah ****** you thought I forgot that 'Nicki who' *** you did? 🤣😩🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO j/k 😐 Ochocinco almost caught a strizzy just by being around yo crazy tail self 🤣😩🤣😩🤣 #BannedFromNORemix' While Shannon Sharpe has been ubiquitous for his viral interviews and his sports take, he has been embroiled in controversy as he was hit with a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit in April. The 13-page lawsuit was filed by a 'Jane Doe' in Nevada, alleging Sharpe had committed assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery, and that he engaged in the intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit states that she and Sharpe started a relationship in 2023 after meeting at a gym in Los Angeles. She claims Sharpe relentlessly pursued her, repeatedly calling, texting, and 'demanding she come to his Beverly Glen mansion.' The relationship is described in the suit as abusive and controlling. The complaint alleges that Sharpe recorded their sexual activities, something without her knowledge, and that he was sharing the videos with others without her permission or knowledge. The suit also alleges that Sharpe threatened to kill her after she attempted to share her location on her iPhone with her friends. On April 24th, Sharpe stepped away from his ESPN duties while also defending his innocence. His statement read: 'My statement is found here and this is the truth. The relationship in question was 100% consensual. At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties. I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason. I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming and ongoing support I have received from my family, fans, friends and colleagues. Shannon Sharpe' ESPN also released a statement about Sharpe's temporary departure from his role with the company, stating, 'This is a serious situation, and we agree with Shannon's decision to step away.' Pacers take 2-1 lead in NBA Finals as Tyrese Haliburton nears triple-double against Thunder
The Indiana Pacers took full advantage of the homecourt, pulling away in the fourth quarter to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder, 116-107, in Game 3. Indiana owns a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals series after stealing Game 1 thanks to Tyrese Haliburton's heroic last-second jumper to win it 111-110. And after a mediocre performance for the Pacers in Game 2, Haliburton turned it up from three-point territory to lead the way for Indiana. Haliburton finished the game with 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including four made threes. He was also one rebound away from a triple-double after tallying 11 assists. On the defensive end, Haliburton also had two steals and one block. But this series has proven to be one that requires bench depth to show out, and Pacers guard Benedict Mathurin was up for the challenge. Mathurin dropped 27 points, leading the Pacers in that category after going a highly efficient 9-of-12 from the field with 7-of-8 made free throws over 22 minutes of work. He also had four rebounds and one assist for his squad. Pascal Siakam was also in the 20-point club, going 8-of-14 from the field with 5-of-6 made free throws for 21 points with six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Meanwhile, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander didn't have his best day shooting by his usual standards, going 9-of-20 from the floor as Indiana continued to play solid defense on him throughout the game. He had 24 points with eight rebounds and four assists, while Jalen Williams led Oklahoma City in the points department with 26 on the night. Chet Holmgren notched himself a double-double, though he wishes he had more than 20 points after going 6-of-15 shooting. He had 10 rebounds with two assists as well. The Pacers were able to drop 40 points in the second quarter, but it was the Thunder leading after three quarters, 89-84. However, Oklahoma City's offense went cold in the fourth quarter as they were outscored 32-18, an unprecedented 12 minutes for this team compared to what they've been able to accomplish all season long. Both sides had similar stats as a team, but Indiana, once again, turned it up when it mattered most in the fourth quarter. Indiana hopes to create an even bigger divide in this series in Game 4 on Friday night in their building. Charles Barkley Takes Shot At Knicks After Firing Tom Thibodeau
Charles Barkley Takes Shot At Knicks After Firing Tom Thibodeau originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After defeating the defending champion Boston Celtics in six games, Tom Thibodeau and the New York Knicks saw their season come to an end in the Eastern Conference finals, falling to the Indiana Pacers. Advertisement Thibodeau joined the Knicks in 2020 and has made it to the NBA playoffs in four of his five seasons there. However, despite the recent success, New York elected to part ways with Thibodeau following its elimination. The Knicks have looked into interviewing four current NBA head coaches, including the Dallas Mavericks' Jason Kidd, the Minnesota Timberwolves' Chris Finch, the Houston Rockets' Ime Udoka and the Atlanta Hawks' Quin Snyder. However, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Hawks became the fourth team to deny the Knicks an interview, leaving New York empty-handed to begin its coaching search. Outside of these four potential candidates, New York hasn't revealed much of a plan going forward without Thibodeau. And NBA legend Charles Barkley does not approve. NBA analyst Charles Barkley criticized the New York Jairaj-Imagn Images On Wednesday, Barkley joined ESPN for its pregame coverage of Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The former Phoenix Suns forward was not pleased with New York's coaching decision, calling them out live on air. Advertisement "The Knicks gotta be the stupidest damn people in the world," Barkley said. "Like, you don't fire a good coach like that and don't have a plan. I mean, Thibs did a hell of a job. Obviously, something's going on there, but you don't have a plan, and now, the three coaches turn you down. You gotta have a plan, man. And they don't have a plan. Now... I mean, I don't know what the hell they are going to do." Although Thibodeau hasn't won an NBA championship as a head coach, he has still put together an impressive coaching resume. He won two NBA Coach of the Year awards and even led the Knicks to their first conference finals in 25 years.
