Bodo/Glimt 0-2 Tottenham (agg: 1-5): Spurs into Europa League final after emphatic semi-final victory

Yahoo08-05-2025

Tottenham are through to the Europa League final after overcoming Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate in their semi-final showdown.
One of the big stories from the first leg was the late strike from Ulrik Saltnes which gave this fixture a different outlook ahead of kick-off in Norway.
That goal coupled with an artificial pitch, Bodo/Glimt's impressive home form and the return of key players such as Marcus Berg, a difficult night was predicted for Ange Postecoglou's side.
However, it was a relative straight forward assignment near the Arctic Circle for the north London outfit who can now prepare for a Europa League final in Bilbao on May 21, 2025.
The first half passed with very few goalmouth action to write home about. Nikita Haikin tipped a Pedro Porro free-kick over the bar, whilst Guglielmo Vicario did the same at the other end when Patrick Berg attempted to catch him out.
Needing a goal to give their supporters something to cling on to, Bodo/Glimt created a few half chances early in the second half, but any hope of a comeback were extinguished just after the hour mark.
Firstly, Dominic Solanke reacted quickest to Cristian Romero's knockdown in the area to poke the ball home from close range and restore Spurs' three-goal advantage.
Minutes later, Porro caught out Haikin with what was surely a cross that looped over the Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper and into the back of the net off the post.
For all the talk of how much a different proposition Bodo/Glimt are at home, they rarely threatened Vicario's goal as Spurs eased home with an all-English Europa League final against Manchester United now the focus for Postecoglou.

Haliburton, however, stepped it up for the Pacers when it mattered the most. The 6-foot-5 point guard knocked down a game-winning jumper, leaving just 0.3 seconds on the game clock to lead Indiana to a thrilling 111-110 victory. The NBA posted a couple of slow-mo videos of Haliburton's incredible shot, and as expected, it drew quite a lot of reactions from the fans on social media. Indiana led this game for just three-tenths of a second, but it was enough for them to escape with what could very well be a series-defining victory. Arsenal join Alejandro Garnacho race with Man United wonderkid keen to remain in England

Manchester United are focussing on player sales before turning their attention towards signing a striker, and plenty of big-name stars like Alejandro Garnacho are expected to make way. The Argentine was a regular under Ruben Amorim last season, playing 40 times under the new head coach, but the pair have not always seen eye-to-eye. Advertisement Their first altercation came before the Manchester derby last year, and the second came when the Argentina international reacted badly after his early substitution against Ipswich Town, which again led to tensions. But his comments after the Europa League final snub proved to be the final straw after which the Portuguese tactician asked him to find a new club in the summer. Alejandro Garnacho on his way out Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently even confirmed that the 20-year-old would indeed be leaving Old Trafford in the summer with three Premier League clubs monitoring proceedings with interest. Advertisement We already know Chelsea are long-term admirers, while Aston Villa have also been recently linked with a move for the Carrington graduate. Respected Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has now revealed the identity of the third club in question — Arsenal. There is interest from Napoli, who came close to securing his signature in January, while multiple Saudi Pro League sides including Al-Nassr are also keen. Arsenal join the race Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen, who recently appointed Erik ten Hag as boss, are also eager to get a deal for Alejandro Garnacho over the line but as per Edul, the United No.17 wants to stay in the Premier League. Advertisement 'Two of the three clubs that enquired about Garnacho are Chelsea and Arsenal. Garnacho has a preference to stay in the Premier League.' INEOS were initially demanding at least £50 million for the ex-Atletico Madrid academy ace, and whether they up his asking price to avoid the prospect of selling to a direct rival remains to be seen. United fans will be bitterly disappointed to see one of their own leave for a fierce rival but it is clear that the wonderkid has no future under Amorim.
