Where is the Hilton Metropole hotel?
Right on the edge of Birmingham's NEC site and new Resorts World Complex, there's plenty to offer inside and outside the hotel.
But equally, it feels secluded, nestled in the Midlands countryside with a huge lake outside.
An ideal venue conveniently off the M4 and a 12-minute walk from Birmingham's international rail station makes movement very easy, whether that's simply seeing nearby attractions or if you want to explore the Midlands.
What is the hotel like?
This sprawling hotel has 795 rooms, a spa, convention facilities, a restaurant and great bars.
Hilton has refitted this 1970s hotel with a sleek American 1920s feel.
This new renovation provides light, bright rooms with neutral finishings with an additional bonus of huge beds in the King rooms.
What are the rooms like?
Deluxe rooms start at £103 and there are several packages with bed and breakfast and pool access.
If you stay in an executive room you can access the special lounge serving breakfast, free pre-dinner drinks and canapes for a special weekend away.
However, if you are a member you can sometimes get exclusive rates.
What is there to eat and drink there?
The in-house Brightsmith on the Water restaurant and bar has a great array of meals and incredible hand-crafted cocktails, as well as a lovely terrace for summer drinks.
There are two other restaurants on site but if you fancy a simpler fare, venture on a short walk to the Resorts World chain eateries.
What is there to do at the hotel?
Although situated in the bustling city of Birmingham, you can unwind at the PURE spa with discounted treatments on offer, or keep up your fitness at the LivingWell Health Club with the 24-hour fitness centre, sauna, steam room, and pool.
Is the hotel family-friendly?
Yes. Rooms that sleep four, and it offers a Kidz Come First babysitting service if you want a night out without your little ones.
Is there access for guests with disabilities?
Yes, but specific requirements for certain disabilities require checking with the hotel.

‘I've visited 40 European countries and this one is the most underrated'

An avid traveller who has visited up to 40 European destinations has revealed one of their favourite 'underrated' spots – and it's one of the cheapest to explore It's the time of year when a European city break or long getaway is on the cards for us Brits. The Uk is so close to a whole plethora of dreamy destinations and it can be hard to know which is the best to visit. Add on the often hefty price tag and it proves tricky to know where to explore within a reasonable budget. After travelling around the continent and visiting up to 40 destinations, a travel content creator, known online as @muzzabroad, has shared with fellow sunseekers what they believe to be " Europe's best hidden gem". A number of reasons lead to this view, so much so they even claim to "reconsider" their favourite overall destination on the continent. North Macedonia is a landlocked country in Southeast Europe, often unexplored by holidaymakers, who seem to be missing out on its natural beauty, affordable activities and rich history. Bordering Brit hot spots like Greece and the ever-growing-in-popularity Albania, this country offers all the sunshine of these holiday destinations, minus the tourists and the price tag. The traveller claimed this country is super affordable compared to the likes of Southeast Asia, known for its cheap beer, food and transport. In fact, they wrote it was "one of the cheapest countries I've ever visited". In addition to this, a big perk about North Macedonia is its access to turquoise blue waters, despite being landlocked, with the likes of Lake Matka and Lake Orchid. The creator described it as having "the kind of landscape you would expect in Thailand, but with that European charm". A TripAdvisor review couldn't help but boast about their beautiful day spent discovering the lesser-known Lake Matka, in the country's capital, Skopje. They wrote: "This place is an amazing natural gem in Skopje. The combination of water and big cliffs, rocks, and forest in one place. Really breathtaking experience... the nature is more than words can describe." Outside of its natural beauty, you can uncover even more gems in Skopje by visiting the Old Bazaar. This is a traditional Turkish-style market made up of countless stalls and rich in history that dates back to the 12th century. For those wanting to see even more culture, the Stone Bridge is an impressive structure built over the Vardar River in the capital and originates from the Ottoman period. When it comes to eating and drinking your way around the country, your average beer price is at 120.00 Macedonian Denar, which converts to roughly £1.69 for a pint, according to Wise. Not only this, but the site reports that a meal for two people, made up of three courses at a mid-range restaurant, would only set you back roughly £21. Others who once visited the hidden gem of a country were quick to share their positive experiences in the comments of the now viral travel video. One user wrote: "Absolutely loved it! It was my bf's and my first vacation together, and the people were so incredibly nice! The food, architecture, nightlife and nature were absolutely amazing." Another traveller shared: "Absolutely loved it! It was my bf's and my first vacation together, and the people were so incredibly nice! The food, architecture, nightlife and nature were absolutely amazing."

Holiday expert reveals exact time to book your tickets for August bank holiday flights & how you can save hundreds

Set your alarms to get on board TRAVEL SAVER Holiday expert reveals exact time to book your tickets for August bank holiday flights & how you can save hundreds Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HOLIDAY experts have revealed the exact time and date Brits should book their tickets ahead of the August bank holiday to save hundreds of pounds. It's not too late to book last-minute flight tickets for holiday trips over the August bank holiday weekend. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The day and time flights are likely to be cheaper for the bank holiday has been revealed Credit: Getty Brits can still find ways to get out of the country that won't blow the budget for the weekend of August 25. This includes trips to classic European escapes and hotspots like Disneyland Paris. Ticket experts have analysed pricing data and industry travel trends. CEO of AttractionTickets, Oliver Brendon, explained: 'It's easy to assume the early bird always gets the deal. "In reality, travel companies adjust fares repeatedly based on demand, and we see opportunities appear even in the final days before departure. "There's still time to save on last-minute August bank holiday travel if you know when to book.' Brendon reveals the trick to finding value no matter how late the purchase is made. Through review of historic pricing, as well as industry reports, Sundays have been found to regularly deliver the lowest average booking prices. This is because airlines adjust seat availability and prices over the weekend. Therefore, holidaymakers who plan to book on Sundays can more often find a better deal and pay significantly less than those who book on other days. 3 tips to help you get the cheapest flights when booking holidays Furthermore, Fridays have been found to be time to avoid as it is the time when prices tend to spike due to increasing demand. A clear morning advantage has also been found through analyses. Around 6am is when the fresh fares tend to show up, so it is good to get in early before search traffic ramps up into the day. So those looking to book a getaway from the bank holiday this month should set their alarms for Sunday morning. Oliver adds 6am on Sunday, August 17 "both sit within the sweet spot before the long weekend and will give you a chance at potentially unlocking better pricing.' This timing tip comes from expert insights and data-driven research from travel and ticketing platforms. It also focused on last-minute booking trends by travellers in the UK. The advise follows suggestions from CEO of Ryanair, Michael O'Leary, who said flights could also be booked cheaper in the first two months of the year. Winter months are believed to be the best time of the year to find cheap air fares, as well as just before the peak of school holidays. Another study looked in to the best time to book flights for certain destinations. For Faro in Portugal, the cheapest flights for the summer holidays were found to be just five weeks before travelling. And for long-haul flights like to New York, the best time was found to be June to book for an August vacation.

'Fabulous' actor Will Ferrell enjoys tour of Braemar Castle

World famous actor Will Ferrell has been enjoying the sites of Aberdeenshire as he paid a visit to Braemar Castle on Royal Deeside. The American actor, comedian, producer and writer, who has starred in the likes of Anchorman, Barbie and Step Brothers, is currently enjoying a trip to Scotland. He was pictured with staff at the 17th century castle this morning as he visited with family and friends. Braemar Castle is owned by chief of Clan Farquharson, Philip Farquharson. A post on the castle's Facebook page reads: 'Can we just get a little bit excited. 'The fabulous Will Ferrell paid us a visit this morning and we may have got a little bit fan girly around him.' They described him as the 'nicest man'. And the actor and his companions were toured round Braemar Castle by staff member Eve, who had the 'best time'. The post added: 'They say to never meet your idols, but this man was a true gentleman and so interested in our work at Braemar Castle.' Earlier this week, the Hollywood star was spotted in Glasgow. He is believed to be staying at the five-star boutique Fife Arms hotel in the village. It is a popular celebrity haunt. And well-known names – including Dame Judi Dench and Rita Ora – have frequented the hotel in recent years. It is unclear if Mr Ferrell will take in today's Ballater Highland Games, which takes place today.
