Chester May Festival 2025: The Foxes wins the Huxley Stakes
The Foxes (13-8 favourite) got back to winning ways with victory in the Group Two IRE-Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish Huxley Stakes on final day of the Boodles Chester May Festival.
Andrew Balding's five-year-old won the Dante Stakes at York in 2023 before finishing fifth in the Derby at Epsom and runner-up in the Grade One Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park. He didn't quitet gone on from that promising Classic year, although he did win a Listed event over 1m2f at Newcastle in November last year before finishing fourth in the Group One Hong Kong Cup the following month. Having been second to Rebel's Romance in the Amir Trophy at Al Uqda in February back in Britain The Foxes returned to winning ways and could be aimed at either next month's Royal Ascot and/or the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
Under Oisin Murphy, The Foxes was sat in third place on the rail behind the pace set by Bolster. And on the turn for home when Cairo (40-1) challenged the leader, Murphy brought The Foxes to the outside and quickly joined Cairo in the lead. He galloped on well to eventually score by a length-and-three-quarters from Cairo with Liberty Lane (5-1) the same distance back in third.

Paddy Power cut The Foxes to 16-1 from 25-1 for the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at the Royal meeting, while he is 66-1 with the same firm for the Eclipse.
Winning jockey Murphy told Sky Sports Racing: "He was superbly prepared by everyone at home as it wasn't completely smooth sailing from Doha to here and Andrew is going to be delighted with that. He was push button and one of the easiest rides you will have round here. It's all down to the work at home and he wasn't always that easy to ride or have that gate speed, but it has come together over the last few starts and that was a joy to be a part of.
"Andrew was happy for me to do whatever and it is important to have big winners for owners King Power Racing, they invest a lot into the sport and it's great to ride for them and have winners for them. Andrew will have a think about what he could run in at Royal Ascot and we also had a Group Two winner the other day in Bellum Justum and they kind of fit in the same category. They are both 10-or 12 furlong horses and one is four and one is five, so Andrew will have a think."
The trainer's wife Anna Lisa Balding added: "We're absolutely delighted and you need a lot of luck as you always do round Chester. He had a good draw but we needed a good pilot and Oisin did a brilliant job. The horse has been in brilliant form at home and Maddy, one of our assistants, rides him every day, she loves him and has done a super job with him. He picked up half a million pounds for going to Qatar and finishing second and he's a very bonny horse who loves his job and really deserved that today."
Course and distance winner Two Tempting (9-4 favourite) scored again on the Roodee in the opener, the CAA Stellar Earl Grosvenor Handicap. Jonathan Portman's six-year-old won over course and distance and having been fourth at Newbury last month, he returned to winning ways back at Chester. Two Tempting, under Rob Hornby, jumped well from the plum draw in stall one and sat just off the pace set by Partisan Hero (12-1). After the turn for home, Hornby moved Two Tempting up to challenge the leader and he smoothly went to the front and went on to scored by three-quarters-of-a-length from Partisan Hero with Kindest Nation (33-1) a further three lengths back in third with Cracking Gold (20-1) another half-a-length adrift in fourth.
Al Wasl Storm (9-1) led from start to finish to win the Boodles Darley EBF Maiden Stakes and potentially book a trip to next month's Betfred Derby at Epsom. The Owen Burrows-trained three-year-old was landing a first success in three starts, having been second at Lingfield last month. Al Wasl Storm broke out well under David Probert and dictated the extended 1m4f contest. He made all the running and beat Willie Haggas' Orinios, who has been second all the way under Tom Marquand, by a length-and-a-quarter with Ammes a neck back in third. The well-backed 11-10 favourite The Pouncing Lion disappointed and came home last of the six runners.

Who did Aaron Rodgers marry? What we know about Steelers quarterback's wife, wedding ring, Brittani
Aaron Rodgers is officially off the market — professionally and personally. That's right, the four-time MVP quarterback not only found a new team this offseason but he found a new life partner. Aaron Rodgers has confirmed that he's married. Advertisement Rodgers signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn't much of a secret, as it had been widely speculated that the team would be his landing spot. Rodgers tying the knot, on the other hand, was done much more privately. Even his friends apparently didn't know the former Green Bay Packers quarterback was married. After previously being in many relationships with women who are in the spotlight just as much as Rodgers, this one is more in the dark. Here's what we know about Rodgers' wife, the woman he last discussed being in a relationship with him, that wedding ring that sparked the speculation and his high-profile dating history. Is Aaron Rodgers married now? Aaron Rodgers is married. Advertisement He told Pittsburgh reporters at Steelers mandatory minicamp on June 10 that the ring on his finger, which had been highly discussed since he debuted it at the Kentucky Derby in early May, is in fact a wedding ring. Who did Aaron Rodgers marry? Rodgers often used the phrase "beautiful mystery" to describe his football future when he was pondering retirement in recent years. The same can be said about who he married. His marriage is likely to a woman named Brittani, though he didn't name her or wasn't asked about her during the interview with Steelers reporters on June 10. He only has mentioned his relationship a couple times. Both came on "The Pat McAfee Show." The first was when Rodgers revealed that he had a girlfriend in December and the second was when he discussed why he hadn't signed with a team in April. Advertisement "I'm in a different phase of my life, I'm 41 years old, I'm in a serious relationship," Rodgers said. "People in my inner circle battling difficult stuff. To make a commitment to a team is a big thing." Who is Aaron Rodgers' wife? Rodgers didn't provide details about his wife during his first public comments at Steelers minicamp since going on "The Pat McAfee Show" in April. He only answered two questions: about the ring on his finger and that he got married a couple months ago. Social media: Reaction to Aaron Rodgers getting married Aaron Rodgers' wedding ring Rodgers apparently didn't have any public wedding with his friends. After all, best buddy AJ Hawk didn't even know Rodgers was married. Advertisement But Rodgers certainly wasn't hiding it. His ring on his finger certainly said so, though it was still a mystery to many. Rodgers was wearing a wedding band on his left ring finger when he walked the red carpets at Kentucky Derby parties May 2. "All of us were a bit surprised," Hawk said on "The Pat McAfee Show" when asked about seeing the ring at the Derby. Even so, Hawk, a former teammate of Rodgers and co-host on McAfee's show, wasn't sure if that meant Rodgers was married. "To tell you the truth, I don't know. I don't know if I have any answers for you when it comes to that situation. He's very private and mysterious when it comes to things like that and this is definitely one of those, for sure." The ring was then prominently displayed when he signed his contract with the Steelers on June 7. But since Rodgers hadn't publicly announced he was married, much less engaged, it was unclear if that ring was a wedding ring. Advertisement He was even asked on June 10 by a Pittsburgh reporter if it was an Oura Ring. In the same line of questioning, when the reporter asked if it's a wedding ring, Rodgers seemed somewhat surprised and confused by the question and replied: "Yeah, it's a wedding ring." Aaron Rodgers' new wife Rodgers doesn't keep much of his life — or at least his views on the world — private. But he is keeping his wife private. That much is clear based on how little he's said about her. Maybe that's because of how public his last relationships were and the breakups came to be. He talked about having a private life at a taping of the "Ya Neva Know" podcast with rapper Mike Stud, in Austin, Texas, in May. Advertisement "It's important to have your private life private when you're a public person," Rodgers said. Rodgers said that, when there are problems in his personal life, they can lead to problems in his professional life. "Our job is 24/7 during the season," Rodgers said. "I like to always be thinking about ball. You can't let personal problems into the professional and professional issues into the personal because, once they do, both suffer. There's been a lot of times in my life, personal's been (expletive) and the professional been a refuge. Hard for that to last long because it always leaks in." Is there a photo of Aaron Rodgers and Brittani? There is not a wedding photo of Rodgers and his wife. Advertisement In fact, there aren't any public photos of Rodgers with the woman whom he previously said he was in a serious relationship. That's a stark contrast to his past relationships when they were all thoroughly documented by every entertainment website. Who is Aaron Rodgers dating? Rodgers was last to be known dating a woman named Brittani. That's what he told his buddies on "The Pat McAfee Show" in December 2024. He didn't provide many details about her. Just that she didn't have social media and that she was a fan of McAfee's show. Oh, and also her name was spelled with an "i." Advertisement Rodgers has been a regular on "The Pat McAfee Show" for the last six years, dating to his time with the Packers. While he discusses everything from politics to UFOs, COVID to his favorite books, plus football and his future, he rarely opens up about his personal life. But it was news to McAfee and everyone else when Rodgers revealed he had a girlfriend when he was talking about waiting for a Christmas present to arrive to his door. "I was a little worried 'cause there was one package left for my girlfriend, Brittani, that hadn't showed up yet," Rodgers said. "I was waiting on it to show up. And it showed up today. We're all set. All my stuff for the (offensive) line is done, all my stuff for the QB room is done." Rodgers told McAfee that he loved being in a relationship. Advertisement "It's a good feeling, boys," Rodgers said. Aaron Rodgers' girlfriend history It appears Rodgers' wife isn't in the public eye like his other past high-profile girlfriends. And he has kept this relationship much more private. Rodgers began dating actress Olivia Munn in 2014 and they often walked the red carpets together. Their relationship ended in 2017. It wasn't long before Rodgers was off the market, starting a relationship with Danica Patrick, the famous IndyCar driver. That was very public, too, but it ended abruptly in 2020. Rodgers then had a whirlwind relationship with actress Shailene Woodley. The two connected during the COVID-19 pandemic and were photographed at Disney together, traveling and even went live on Instagram together for their followers. Rodgers announced during the virtual ceremony of the NFL Honors in February 2021, when he was awarded his third MVP, that he was engaged. Rodgers and Woodley were broken up by February 2022. Advertisement Woodley said in a magazine interview last year that the relationship was "toxic" and that "it was not right." At the same time, Woodley said her time with Rodgers "was beautiful.' Aaron Rodgers sits next to Mallory Edens, the daughter of Milwaukee Bucks owner Wes Edens during a Bucks playoff game on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Rodgers was also joined by former Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb. Were Aaron Rodgers and the Bucks owner's daughter, Mallory Edens, in a relationship? Rodgers and Mallory Edens, the daughter of Milwaukee Bucks owner, Wes Edens, were linked together in 2023 but they never commented on a relationship. The two often sat courtside together at Bucks home games, alongside Wes. At the time, Rodgers and Edens were "more than friends" but just keeping it casual, according to People. Advertisement Rodgers has an ownership stake in the Bucks. Danica Patrick on Aaron Rodgers Before Rodgers' marriage was confirmed by the quarterback this week, one of his former flames torched the future Hall of Famer on their breakup. In an interview on the "Sage Steele Podcast," Patrick called the end of her relationship with Rodgers the 'the most amount of pain" she's ever experienced. Patrick and Rodgers dated from 2018 to 2020. The two traveled together, made high-profile appearances together, including courtside at Bucks games, and even lived together. Rodgers also attended Patrick's final race of her career at the Indy 500 in 2018. Advertisement But beyond what the public saw, Patrick said the relationship was "emotionally abusive" and that it wore her "down to nothing." "He leaves a trail of blood," Patrick said about Rodgers. "I don't think I'm saying too much, you know, earth-shattering stuff. There's been enough out there." Rodgers hasn't responded to Patrick's accusations. How old is Aaron Rodgers? Aaron Rodgers is 41 years old. His birthday is Dec. 2. Like in 2024, Rodgers will be the oldest active player in the NFL during the 2025 season. Rodgers is beginning his 21st season in the NFL and is on his third team of his career. He played 18 years in Green Bay, where he was a Super Bowl champion and became one of the game's all-time greats, winning four MVPs. Rodgers spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets. Female athletes appeal landmark NCAA settlement, saying it violates federal antidiscrimination law
Ashlyn Hare, one of the attorneys representing the athletes, said in a statement that the settlement violates Title IX, the federal law that bans sex-based discrimination in education. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up 'We support a settlement of the case, but not an inaccurate one that violates federal law. The calculation of past damages is based on an error that ignores Title IX and deprives female athletes of $1.1 billion,' Hare said. 'Paying out the money as proposed would be a massive error that would cause irreparable harm to women's sports.' Advertisement The House settlement figures to financially benefit football and basketball stars at the biggest schools, who are likely to receive a big chunk of the $20.5 million per year that colleges are permitted to share with athletes over the next year. Some athletes in other sports that don't make money for their schools could lose their partial scholarships or see their roster spots cut. Advertisement 'This is a football and basketball damages settlement with no real benefit to female athletes,' Hare said. 'Congress has expressly rejected efforts to exempt revenue-generating sports like football and basketball from Title IX's antidiscrimination mandate. The NCAA agreed with us. Our argument on appeal is the exact same argument the conferences and NCAA made prior to settling the case.' The appeal was filed by the law firm Hutchinson Black and Cook of Boulder, Colorado, and was first reported by Front Office Sports. It would be heard by the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Report: £4million Liverpool Defender Set to Join EFL Championship Side
Liverpool Defender Nat Phillips Attracting Championship Suitors as Exit Looms Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips is once again at the centre of summer transfer speculation, with The Athletic reporting that the Reds are fielding 'strong interest' in the 28-year-old from Championship clubs. Chief among the interested parties is West Bromwich Albion, with Derby County also making their intentions clear to retain the defender after his successful loan stint. Advertisement Despite some reports mistakenly suggesting Phillips would be a free agent on July 1, his contract actually runs until 2026. However, with no place in Arne Slot's Premier League-winning plans, Liverpool appear ready to sanction a permanent departure. Phillips' stock remains high in the second tier following an impressive season at Pride Park. Derby boss John Eustace summed up the club's stance simply: 'We'd like to keep him for sure.' West Brom and Derby Lead Transfer Chase West Brom's interest is particularly significant. The Midlands club finished ninth last season and have turned to Ryan Mason in a bid to lead a renewed push for promotion. With Semi Ajayi released and defensive reinforcement a priority, Phillips has emerged as a prime candidate. Photo: IMAGO Liverpool's stance on a transfer fee could prove pivotal. Last summer, they rejected a £4 million bid from Trabzonspor, reportedly holding out for a figure closer to £8 million. Whether they remain as firm this time around could determine whether Derby, West Brom or any other suitor can complete a deal. Long-Term Questions Over Contract Strategy Phillips' current contract was awarded after his pivotal role in Liverpool's injury-ravaged 2020-21 season. With all senior centre-backs out, he and Rhys Williams helped the Reds secure Champions League qualification, a feat many thought impossible at the time. Advertisement However, both defenders were given long-term deals that now appear overly optimistic in hindsight. As The Athletic observed, 'the decision to hand the pair new deals… has been criticised as overly loyal.' Loan spells at Bournemouth, Celtic, Cardiff and Derby have brought in modest fees for Liverpool — including £1.75 million from Bournemouth alone — and helped offset wages. But the reality is Phillips has remained a peripheral figure. Opportunity for Stability and Regular Football Now 28, Phillips is at a stage in his career where regular football and stability outweigh the prestige of a Premier League contract. He has never agitated for a move, yet the club's strategy has kept him in limbo far too long. A permanent move this summer would serve all parties best. Advertisement While Liverpool prepare to wave goodbye to seven academy players in June, they are also expected to listen to offers for other fringe talents including Calvin Ramsay, Owen Beck and Kaide Gordon. After years of short-term solutions, Phillips deserves clarity over his future — and clubs like West Brom and Derby are offering him exactly that. Our View – Anfield Index Analysis From a fan's perspective, there's admiration and sympathy in equal measure for Nat Phillips. He's never been the most glamorous name on the team sheet, but his performance during the 2020-21 crisis remains etched in Liverpool folklore. That season, alongside Rhys Williams, he epitomised heart and commitment. 'Against the odds' doesn't even come close. Advertisement The frustration lies in how he's been handled since. Loan after loan, each productive in its own right, yet never leading to a real breakthrough or permanent exit. It's felt like career purgatory. At 28, he deserves better. Financially, Liverpool have eked out value through loan fees and wage coverage. But there's a bigger conversation to be had about how fringe players are managed. Holding out for £8 million last summer may have been too rigid, and could well have deterred suitors. Under Arne Slot's modern, progressive system, there's simply no room for Phillips. His aerial strength and old-school defending have value in the Championship, and both West Brom and Derby would be lucky to have him. The time has come for the club to do right by a loyal servant. Let him go, price reasonably, and wish him well. He's earned it.
