Chase Elliott gets wrecked moments after avoiding Richmond pileup
After contact with Ross Chastain and Brad Keselowski, Busch dove to the bottom of the track in an effort to get under Chase Briscoe. Busch ran into the back of Briscoe instead, sending him spinning up the track. Justin Haley plowed into the accident scene, sustaining race-ending damage while several other cars made contact as they attempted to slow down and avoid the spinning car.
Chase Elliott was one of the drivers lucky enough to navigate the way through the wreck, but his good fortune would not last. Just as he cleared the smoke and carnage, he collided with Busch as the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet came back down the track.
Elliott crashed hard, nearly taking teammate William Byron with him as he slammed the outside wall. His race was over, suffering his first DNF of the 2025 season and ending his shot at the regular season championship.
'I have no idea what happened," said Elliott after being released from the infield care center. "I saw them crashing and were all stacking up, trying to get stopped. After the wreck was over, I thought we were done wrecking and I was just trying to squeak by. I guess somebody didn't know I was down there. I guess Kyle didn't know I was to the left.
'Whoever was next to me [Zane Smith] and myself were trying to get through the accident, and we were coming through there at a decent rate. Unfortunately, Kyle just didn't know that we were on the bottom. Hate that. We had a good start to the night, and it slowly unraveled until it finally fell apart. Hopefully, I get on a better stretch, starting next week."

According to TechCrunch, Ron's move comes as autonomous freight technology nears commercial viability, and Waabi prepares to scale operations against deep-pocketed rivals like Aurora, which has already launched the first driverless trucking route in the U.S. Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) veteran Rebecca Tinucci, who TechCrunch says spent six years building the automaker's charging network, will replace Ron as head of Uber Freight after Tesla cut its charging staff last year. Ron will remain chair of Uber Freight while taking on his new role at Waabi, Bloomberg reports. Ron and Raquel Urtasun Reunite to Drive AI-First Autonomy to Market Waabi founder and CEO Raquel Urtasun told TechCrunch that Ron will lead go-to-market strategy, expand key partnerships, and bring Waabi from its current development stage to "commercialization at scale." She pointed to his track record of scaling Uber Freight from inception to a multibillion-dollar revenue operation as proof that he can guide Waabi through its next phase. Ron and Urtasun share a history in the sector, TechCrunch says. Ron co-founded self-driving truck company Otto, which Uber acquired in 2016, while Urtasun served as Uber's chief scientist for self-driving research between 2017 and 2021. Ron said his decision to join Waabi was driven by timing and the scale of opportunity in autonomy, telling TechCrunch, "If the most impactful thing to do in the next decade is autonomy, and if the timing is right, then for me it's really about joining forces with who I think is most positioned to lead the transformation." Ron described the career shift as "like going back to the roots" in an interview with Bloomberg. Central to Waabi's development is Waabi World, a closed-loop simulator that trains and tests its self-driving software by generating real-time scenarios, including accidents and construction zones, without physical risk. According to TechCrunch, earlier this year, Waabi declared its system "feature complete," meaning it had all the necessary capabilities to operate without a human driver and was now focusing on performance improvements and validation ahead of its driverless launch. The company plans to begin operations in Texas, which TechCrunch says has become a hub for autonomous freight testing and deployment, but has not disclosed the specific routes or launch partners. Cardinals place outfielder Victor Scott II on 10-day IL with left ankle sprain
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Victor Scott II on the 10-day injured list before Sunday's series finale against the New York Yankees. Scott had an MRI and it revealed he has a left ankle sprain. He collided with the outfield wall in pursuit of Aaron Judge's home run in the third inning of Saturday's game, a 12-8 Yankees victory. Outfielder Nathan Church and left-handed pitcher Anthony Veneziano have been selected from Triple-A Memphis. Right-handed pitcher Roddery Muñoz was optioned to Memphis. Church will start in center and hit ninth. Scott was hurt when he was trying to rob Judge of a home run. Scott almost brought back the Yankees slugger's first career home run against the Cardinals after going high above the center-field wall with his glove. He landed awkwardly on his left ankle. Scott has played in 116 games this season. He is hitting .223 with five home runs and 35 RBIs. Scott has 31 stolen bases. Two starters also remain out of the St. Louis lineup — first baseman Willson Contreras (right foot contusion) and second baseman Brendan Donovan (left foot/groin soreness). Contreras was hit by a pitch on the foot Tuesday and hasn't played since. Alec Burleson has started each of St. Louis' four games at first base since Contreras has been sidelined. Donovan has been dealing with leg and foot injuries since being removed from a game against Toronto on June 10 with a sprained capsule in his left big toe.
