Ekitike and Salah combine for goal in promising sign for Liverpool 🙌
The Frenchman raced down the left, beat his defender before squaring the ball across the box for Salah to take a touch and finish coolly past Unai Simón.
Oihan Sancet equalised just before the half hour mark, but the link up play between one of the new boys and the Egyptian king could set the tone for the season.

Bayer Leverkusen finalize terms of Ernest Poku transfer, enter into negotiations for Loïc Badé
Kicker and all other major German footballing media sources report that Bayer Leverkusen have wrapped up negotiations for the transfer of AZ Alkmaar winger Ernest Poku. The 21-year-old is due in Leverkusen for a medical ahead of a €10m move to the Bundesliga. All German sources claim that Poku will sign a four-year-contract with Germany's red company team. In other Leverkusen-related personnel news, Sport Bild reports that Leverkusen stepped up their efforts to acquire Sevilla centre-back Loïc Badé. Negotiations are underway with a transfer fee in the €20m to €25m range being discussed. The German tabloid does note that the Bundesliga club faces stiff competition from AFC Bournemouth, who are prepared to pay €30m for the French international. Leverkusen continue to scramble to increase their undermanned squad ahead of the forthcoming Bundesliga campaign. The recent confirmation of longtime keeper and captain Lukas Hradecky's move to AS Monaco now leaves head coach Erik ten Hag with only 23 professionals with which to work. Hradecky's loss is at the very least expected to be rectified shortly by the signing of German keeper Janis Blaswich away from RB Leipzig. Blaswich will serve as the back-up to new club No. 1 Mark Flekken. GGFN |

Jones reacts to Charlton's opening day victory
Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones was overjoyed with his side's win on their return to the Championship. Harvey Knibbs' stoppage-time winner ensured the Addicks took all three points as they beat Watford 1-0. "I thought we took about 10 minutes to settle, they played a bit of possession football and we didn't get the press right," he told BBC London. "But once we got to grips with the game I thought we were excellent, we went after it, we created chances. "Their keeper's made some excellent saves and I thought we were excellent and thoroughly deserved it - more shots, more shots on target. "Then to score in the manner that we did is a wonderful way to win a game." Latest Charlton Athletic news, analysis and fan views Listen to Charlton Athletic content on BBC Sounds

Guernsey FC begin league campaign with 4-1 Wick win
Guernsey FC began their first season in the Southern Combination Premier Division with a 4-1 win over Wick at Victoria Park. The Green Lions were playing in the ninth tier of English football for the first time in 12 years after their relegation from the Isthmian League in April. The win came in the week Guernsey were expelled from the FA Cup after fielding an ineligible player in their 1-1 draw with Bedfont Sports last week. Ross Allen and Brandon Wallace both went close early on before Tom Vaudin gave Guernsey a 30th minute lead. The defender got his first goal for the club on his 100th appearance as he reacted quickest at a corner. It took just four minutes for the islanders to double their lead as Fin du Port turned in a free-kick. Allen hit the crossbar 13 minutes after the break with a shot on the turn, but Wick pulled a goal back four minutes later as Dave Crouch finished well. Sam Murray missed a couple of good chances soon after, before going close with an 84th-minute header. The striker finally got the goal his endeavour deserved three minutes later when he finished well into the bottom corner. The win was completed in the first minute of stoppage time when Allen converted from the penalty spot after Will Fazakerley was tripped in the box. Guernsey FC expelled from FA Cup after admin error Guernsey FC force FA Cup replay after Bedfont Sports draw "It's about the result really and it's good to get the win," Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey. "We found ourselves in an unusual situation where obviously we had a lot of the ball and a lot of the ascendancy. "But then what happened was it was almost like we lost our focus because we didn't quite have the right mentality to go and be ruthless after six or seven years of being on the other side of things and trying to stop every attack. "Here we had a chance to go and create and and I think I think we found ourselves in that position where we're not used to it. "But it was a question of getting that first goal and then the second of course, and then maybe from that we we can build something and once we got that I thought we'd played some good football and created some good openings, but we weren't quite ruthless enough."
