The man accused of killing 2 Idaho firefighters had once aspired to be one

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — A 20-year-old man's life appeared to have begun to unravel in the months before authorities say he fatally shot two firefighters and severely wounded a third as they responded to a wildfire near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Wess Roley was living out of his vehicle and his former roommate, T.J. Franks Jr., said he shaved off his long hair and started to 'kind of go downhill.' The two lived together for about six months in Sandpoint, Idaho, until Roley moved out in January, Franks said Monday.

Sean Combs Found Not Guilty of Sex Trafficking and Racketeering in Trial's Mixed Verdict

The jury in Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sex trafficking trial handed down a mixed verdict on Wednesday, acquitting the music mogul of the most serious charges against him while finding him guilty on lesser counts. Combs was found not guilty on two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and on one count of racketeering conspiracy. He was, however, found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. 'Mr. Combs has been given his life by this jury,' defense attorney Marc Agnifilo said after the jury's decision came down, per CNN. 'He treasures, I assure you, the opportunity that he has been given, and he will not run afoul of anything this court imposes on him.' Combs was initially indicted in September 2024 on three counts of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. His seven-week trial began on May 5, with the jury's verdict coming on the third day of deliberations. During the trial proceedings, multiple women — including Combs' ex-girlfriend Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura — testified to Combs' alleged patterns of sexual assault, violence and threats of blackmail, including multi-day 'freak offs,' in which Combs would allegedly provide drugs and alcohol and coerce women into participating in sexual activity with others. 'He's going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might, and the full confidence of his lawyers,' Agnifilo said at the time of Combs' indictment. 'And I expect a long battle with a good result for Mr. Combs.' A date for Combs' sentencing has not yet been set. Best of TVLine 'Missing' Shows, Found! 49ers Controversial Signing Interest About 'Desperation' vs.' Deserving'

49ers Controversial Signing Interest About 'Desperation' vs.' Deserving' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The San Francisco 49ers were interested in controversial cornerback Damon Arnette Jr. before he ultimately signed a one-year free-agent contract with the Houston Texans earlier this month. Advertisement That is indisputable. But it leads to the question of "why''? And that is a debate about just how "desperate'' this team is for cornerback help vs. just how "deserving'' Arnette is of a second chance. 'It was a couple of teams that were reaching out on him,' UFL exec Daryl Johnston (the former Dallas Cowboys great) said. 'He's got everything you want, he's got the length. He's a former first-round (NFL) draft pick, so the talent is there. It's really the maturity. "Has he learned from what happened to him, his first opportunity when he was in Vegas?'' Has he, indeed? Arnette ultimately signed a one-year free-agent contract with the Houston Texans after playing well in the UFL. What's he trying to overcome? He was the Las Vegas Raiders' No. 19 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft but got the boot after playing just 13 games over two seasons because of a handful of behavioral and legal issues. Advertisement The rap sheet? In 2021, the Raiders finally cut him amid a video surfacing that seems to show him brandishing firearms and making death threats. In 2022, after signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, Arnette was arrested in Las Vegas on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Later in 2022, he was pulled over twice, arrested, and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license. In 2024, Arnette was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and unlawful carrying of a firearm. Advertisement "Deserving of a second chance''? In terms of his skill set, Arnette would have fit with San Francisco. And in terms of roster need? The 49ers are enduring the free agency departure of Charvarius Ward, who signed with the Indianapolis Colts. And now San Francisco has a legal issue with Deommodore Lenoir as well. (See below.) Arnette's work with the Houston Roughnecks of the UFL last year included 18 tackles, five passes defensed, one sack and one pick-6. 'So, we're very proud of what he's done with this opportunity,' Johnston said. 'He's still got a long way to go.''
