Speculation believes that Durant will sign an extension with his new team, but he's currently playing on an expiring contract that has him getting paid $54.7 million next season. The two-time NBA champion and 15-time All-Star will join a Rockets team that has high aspirations for next season. In his last year with the Phoenix Suns, which was cut short due to injury, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.

To kick off Saturday's 9-1 victory, center Deandre Ayton, forward Jake LaRavia and incoming rookie Adou Thiero each threw out first pitches at Dodger Stadium. Ayton is poised to significantly upgrade the Lakers at the center position, a position they were very weak at last season following the Luka Doncic trade. He has career averages of 16.4 points and 10.5 rebounds a game, and while his defense has been mostly lackluster so far in his career, he appears to have the physical tools to become a good, if not a great, defender.
