Miss Scotland flies to India for competition amid unrest
Amy Scott left Edinburgh Airport this morning to fly to Hyderabad for the competition with her dresses and costume changes packed into six suitcases.
The event is being hosted in India despite the unrest in the country that has happened in recent days.
Trouble has broken out between India and Pakistan in the Kashmir region, but Hyderabad is a distance away from the area.
Amy, who won the Miss Scotland competition, was surprised at the airport by her cousin Rhyiza Croy.
The 31-year-old turned up at 5am to send her off, and she inspired Amy to raise money for MS Society having lived with multiple sclerosis in recent years.

Amy said: 'I still can't quite believe it's real. I'm full of nerves and excitement, but most of all I feel so lucky.
'Rhyiza lives with multiple sclerosis, and her courage inspired me to raise money for the MS Society.
'I'm ready for every part of the Miss World journey – representing Scotland, championing my cause, and doing everything I can to make my country and my family proud.'
The 25-year-old is from Strathaven and led the Glasgow Kiltwalk on behalf of Revive MS last month, and now she is looking for to heading to India for what she says will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

She continued: 'I've already been speaking to many of the other candidates and have even met some. I know we'll cheer each other on every step of the way.
'Going to India for Miss World is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. The culture, the colour, the people – I just want to soak up every moment.
'Competing in Miss World is like a dream. I really lacked confidence when I was younger, so this is something I had never seen on the cards for myself.
'As someone who was once painfully shy, it might not seem like the obvious path, but Miss World isn't just about beauty, it's about confidence, strength, and using your voice for something bigger than yourself.
'I've learned that self-worth isn't about fitting into a perfect mould, it's about embracing who you are.
'I can't wait to represent Scotland on such a grand stage.'

Linwood fundraiser 'stunned' after landing £30,000 car cash gift
Glasgow Kiltwalk sponsors Arnold Clark handed the money to Fiona for her heroic efforts in helping the Beatson Cancer Charity. A big-hearted Linwood woman was left 'stunned' when she was handed £30,000 to be put towards a new car from Arnold Clark. The reward was for her heartfelt fundraising efforts in this year's Glasgow Kiltwalk. Fiona Slicer – who is originally from the Isle of Skye but now lives in Renfrewshire – completed the 14-mile Big Stroll to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity where her mum, Catriona, is currently undergoing treatment for mantle cell lymphoma. She was automatically entered into the draw for the life-changing car credit prize – donated by Kiltwalk headline sponsor Arnold Clark – after registering and fundraising for the Glasgow event alongside nearly 19,000 other participants. Fiona said: 'I honestly couldn't believe it. I walked the kiltwalk for my mum and the Beatson who have been amazing. I was lucky to do the walk with my cousin Annette who considers my mum her mum too and I couldn't pick a better walking partner.' 'This year's been so tough for our family and we never expected anything like this. It's such a generous prize and I'm just so grateful.' The Beatson Cancer Charity was also awarded a car credit of £30,000 as the recipient of Fiona's fundraising. The emotional surprise was pulled off after Fiona was invited to her aunt's house in Erskine under the pretence of helping her dad, Andy, look after her mum following chemotherapy at the Beatson. Fiona's parents, who live in Oban, Argyll & Bute, have been staying in Erskine while Catriona undergoes treatment. Unknown to Fiona, the Kiltwalk and Arnold Clark team had secretly arrived at the house with the specially-branded Kiltwalk car – complete with feather flags and a giant red bow – to break the news that she had been chosen as this year's winner. Her husband Gordon, cousin, nieces and other family members were also in on the act and gathered to witness the emotional moment Fiona was told the incredible news. Kiltwalk CEO Paul Cooney added: 'Fiona is a true Kiltwalk Hero. She embodies the Kiltwalk kindness that motivates our fantastic community, and we were thrilled to surprise her with this incredible prize thanks to Arnold Clark.' Russell Borrie, chief executive officer of Arnold Clark, also said: 'We're absolutely thrilled to hand over £30,000 of credit towards a new car to this year's Glasgow Kiltwalk Car Reward winner, Fiona. 'This is a very well-deserved prize and we are sure Fiona's entire family are extremely proud of her fundraising efforts for the Beatson Cancer Charity, supporting all the wonderful work they do in helping those affected by cancer. 'Congratulations once again and we hope you enjoy your new car!'

Real-life TV couple announce big career move and and say ‘we can't wait'
Soap favourites Amy Walsh and Toby-Alexander Smith have revealed their new project away from the TV world. Amy, 38, is best known for her portrayal of Tracy Robinson on ITV's Emmerdale, while husband Toby-Alexander, 34, played wicked Gray Atkins in BBC flagship serial drama EastEnders. The couple were married in 2023 after meeting in the audience of a Strictly Come Dancing episode, and share daughter Bonnie-Mae together. Now they've turned their attentions away from soapland to launch a new business venture in Leeds. Amy's sister Sally established The Walsh Academy in London four years ago, and now it's heading North with classes led by the pair. Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Toby revealed that the school, which opened earlier this month, will 'provide speech and drama classes for children aged from 7 to 16.' Amy added that they'd both be acting coaches, and that they want to inspire youngsters to express themselves and make friends, rather than to thrust them into the spotlight. Following their first session, Amy returned to social media to share her delight with how successful it had been. 'What an amazing first session and launch at @thewalshacademynorth', she wrote. 'Thank you to all the wonderful and brave students who threw themselves completely into. 'A lot of fun was had and plenty of smiles all round. We can't wait to meet more of you next week!' More Trending Her co-star Beth Cordingly added her support, writing: 'This looks AWESOME. So exciting. Thrilled for you and very proud X.'
