Today's ‘Wordle' #1435 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, May 24th
How to solve today's Wordle. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Looking for Friday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: Rain has finally caught up with me on my travels. It's been sunny and at times almost a little too warm here in Scotland—I should have packed more summer attire—but that all changed Friday afternoon when the rain started falling and hasn't stopped since. I'm not complaining. I love a wee spot of rain. Mist on the hillsides. The green of trees and hedges even more verdant. And I brought waterproof stuff to keep me nice and dry. But it does make you want to stay inside, and I need to go out and explore! First, of course, we have a Wordle to solve! The Hint: Don't step on these shoes. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Today's Wordle Credit: Erik Kain Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. Only 43 words remained after my first guess, SPINE, and I had two green boxes. ROACH slashed that to five, but only gave me more grey boxes. I took a wild guess with SUEDE and got super lucky. Huzzah for me! Today's Wordle Bot Credit: Erik Kain The Bot and I each get 1 point for guessing in three, and 0 for tying. This brings us to a May total of: Erik: 19 points Wordle Bot: 14 points Interestingly—and I really never knew this—the word "suede" comes from the French phrase "gants de Suède", meaning "gloves from Sweden." It originally referred to soft Swedish leather used for gloves. The English adopted "suede" in the 19th century to describe this type of soft, napped leather. So 'blue suede shoes' are actually 'blue gloves from Sweden shoes' . . . in a sense. NYT ‘Strands' Today: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Tuesday, May 20th
Today's NYT Strands hints and answers Credit: New York Times Looking for Monday's Strands hints, spangram and answers? You can find them here: Monday was the first day on my trip to the UK that I saw even a hint of rain. It's been unseasonably warm and sunny, so I was happy to get some clouds and rain. I get enough sun in Arizona! Besides, I packed too warm. In any case, it was good timing because I also went to my first Scottish hot yoga class and it was so nice to come out of that into lovely rainy weather. But I digress. We have a Strands to solve, so let's solve it! Strands is the newest game in the New York Times' stable of puzzle games. It's a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we're given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board, revealing more about the rest of the words on the grid. Spoilers ahead. Read on for today's theme and some hints to help you uncover today's words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I'm giving out three hints instead of two. Today's Theme: Oh, Of Course! Hint: The fish you caught in yesterday's Strands could be part of this theme. Clue: But you'd probably start with some small plates and after the fish, maybe a chocolate mousse. Here are the first two letters of each of today's words: Remember, spoilers ahead! Today's spangram is: FINEDINING Here's the full list of words: Here's the completed Strands grid: Today's Strands Credit: Erik Kain This was pretty inscrutable at first and I had a hard time getting started, but once I found SALAD I was pretty sure I knew what was what. Others came quickly. DESSERT and SOUP made FINE appear, and it was easy enough to extrapolate that out to FINEDINING. I struggled mostly with APPETIZER. I kept seeing ZIPPER and TEA. It finally clicked. How did you do on your Strands today? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
