‘Every club should do this' – even rival fans love SPFL team's new kit styled on classic album cover by Scots rock band

AN SPFL team's new music-inspired strip is proving to be a hit with fans - and not just their own!
The club has used an album cover from one of the local area's most-celebrated bands as the foundation for the design of the shirt.

The song is from the band's most famous album - now it's part of a kit!
Dunfermline punk heroes Skids emerged from the city in 1979 with Scared to Dance, which spawned hit singles such as Into the Valley and The Saints Are Coming.
To this day, Dunfermline Athletic run out to Into the Valley on matchday and the band is a firm favourite for many in the fanbase.
To celebrate the club's connection with the rock group, the Championship side have unveiled a new kit based on the cover of Scared to Dance.
It will act as the team's third kit, with a classic black and white striped number in use for the home strip and this season's away shirt a black and yellow striped affair.
The top for the third kit takes on the blue marble flooring from the album cover, while the next features the iconic red logo of the band.
Needless to say, the East End Park faithful are absolutely loving the new strip.
One said: "Oh my god it is beautiful, an all timer.
"Absolutely belting album as well."
Another said: "A unique design and the club are to be applauded for creating a kit that is so strongly linked to the city and its music. Prefer this bold approach over some catalogue top with a Pars badge stuck on."
But supporters from other clubs are approving of it too - even rival fans.

Scots novelist Ian Rankin - who supports Dunfermline's arch rivals, Raith Rovers - said: "As a Raith Rovers fan, even I think this is damned cool…"
And a Cowdenbeath fan quipped: "I really want to hate this but it's a thing of beauty. B******."
Some think the new top could start a trend...
"Absolutely on board with kits based on album covers," said one fan.
While this Rangers supporter said: "Every club should do this. Aberdeen with an Annie Lennox top, Queen of the South with a Calvin Harris inspired number."
Another Gers fan called it "outstanding" while a Celtic supporter said it was "sensational".
Before a Hearts fan said: "I actually really like that. Errea has done good work on that."
While an Airdrie supporter commented: "I'm here as an Airdrie fan to say this is absolutely magnificent and I'm sorely tempted to buy one even though I'm an auld bloke who doesn't even wear fitba jerseys anymore."
From further afield Bristol City supporter commented: "Absolute class. Well done Dunfermline Athletic!"
And an Ipswich Town fan told their club "This is how you do a shirt!"
A news article on the club's website read: "Dunfermline Athletic is delighted to reveal our third kit for season 2025/26.
"The Pars, to this day, run out to 'Into The Valley' by the Skids, and our third kit pays the ultimate homage to one of the greatest bands to come out of Dunfermline.
"Released in February 1979, the debut studio album from the punk rock band featured an iconic artwork featuring a blue marble flooring that has been transformed into the body of the new shirt.
"Our club badge is colour-matched to the marble pattern behind for a sleek modern finish, with the Errea logo embroidered in dark blue.
"The shirt is finished with Errea's usual high-quality finishes. Our collar trim carries the message 'Identity, Unity, Passion', taken from messaging in a Section North West banner.
"The rear of the neck features the iconic red 'Skids' logo, and the inside of the neck features a copy of Skids frontman Richard Jobson's handwritten title.
"A portion of the profits from each shirt sold will support the work of the White Ribbon Campaign in Dunfermline. The White Ribbon campaign in Dunfermline, and throughout Fife, is part of a global effort to end men's violence against women. The campaign encourages individuals, especially men and boys, to pledge to never commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women.

"As per the home and away shirts, KDM Group will feature on the junior editions of the shirts, and the mini kits will be sponsorless.
"To go with the away shirt, we pair up dark blue with marble blue trim and matching dark blue socks.
"From a technical point of view, the shirt is made with sublimation printing, a process that ensures high-quality and long-lasting graphics, and like all Erreà Sport products, the shirt is certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, a certification that sets extremely stringent limitations on the use of substances that can be harmful to health.
"Our new third kit is currently on sale at this evening's community open day and will be available in the DAFC Club shop tomorrow, Friday, at 10am, and online Saturday, subject to availability."

Dunfermline Athletic snap up Peruvian star Jefferson Caceres from Sheffield United
Dunfermline Athletic have signed Peruvian attacker Jefferson Caceres for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield United. The 22-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Pars, bringing to an end a six-month stint with the EFL Championship Blades. Caceres, who has featured for his country's under-23 side, moved to Bramall Lane, where it is understood Pars owner James Bord has recruitment influence, in February. With United requiring reinforcements, Caceres' departure has freed up a space in the squad and should see Dunfermline get the benefit of the Peruvian's talents. During his time with the Blades, Caceres featured for the club's under-21 side late last season and was named in a first-team matchday squad against Stoke City in April. The attacking midfielder's signing remains subject to international clearance and visa approval..

Russell Martin clamps one damning Rangers stat as he demands 'context' from cynics
It's been a rough start defensively for the revamped Ibrox side The late Ebbe Skovdahl had a favourite saying about statistics. 'They're just like mini-skirts, they give you good ideas but hide the most important thing,' the former Aberdeen boss famously said. Well Russell Martin is starting to feel the same way after seeing his team suffer another dressing down from the frustrated Ibrox support. The Rangers boss watched his team edge a step closer towards a £40million Champions League payday by beating Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday. But instead of congratulations for teeing up a do-or-die play-off shout-out with Club Brugge, Martin and his team have been lampooned for the ragged performance which very nearly saw them blow their 3-0 first-leg lead. Gers may have banked a £3.7million bonus for progressing past the Czechs but the only figure fans wanted to discuss after the game was the 101 shots that have already been fired at Jack Butland's goal just six games into the season. Martin certainly hasn't enjoyed picking through the details behind that worrying number. But he's adamant it tells only half the story. 'I was made aware of it this week,' he said. 'The analyst did a real breakdown on it. Half the shots were from well outside the box. The two games when we gave away too many chances was against Panathinaikos and Plzen. "We were playing two teams away in Europe who were 2-0 and 3-0 down. "They were doing stuff we hadn't usually seen them doing and committing numbers forward we haven't usually seen them doing. 'So we can definitely negate that and stop it. We're not happy with the number of shots we've conceded but you also have to have some context and clarity for what we're doing. 'We have to get better and will get better.' These are troubled times already for a boss who has barely had time to unpack his cases since moving to Glasgow. Falling four points off the title pace just two games into the Premiership season has hardly done much to win over a fanbase that were largely sceptical of his appointment to begin with. But it's also true that Martin is suffering as a result of past sins. The same punters who were asked to give Michael Beale and Philippe Clement time previously are simply not inclined to show much patience to yet another boss making a slow start. Some of the more reactionary supporters have seen enough and are already calling for Martin to be tossed overboard. But the new gaffer took heart from another maritime analogy offered to him by a member of the club's backroom staff this week. "There has been energy around this place for a while - inside and out - that's been a lot of disappointment and a lot of frustration. "And a lot of criticism of the players and the club. "Everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to one. "While we're here, our job is to focus on what we can affect and impact. "If we do our job to the best of our ability and focus on being better and have really high standards with everything, I just don't see how it doesn't go in the right direction. "One of the maintenance guys said to me this week 'We're turning a tanker around and it will take some time to get it going'. "It was the perfect analogy and he's a great guy. He was here when I was here before. "When he said it, I said, 'You're right'. "I spoke to the staff on Sunday after the Dundee game. Everyone here supports the club. They really feel things. "But our job is just to work and not let the outside noise affect what we do. We just can't. "You will ask me about Andy Halliday's comments - but it can't affect the work we do. "If you work at a big club like this, you have to accept there will be so many opinions. "There will be ex-players and supporters. But we have to focus on what we focus on. I've had to remind people of that. "We need to be better at what we do every day. A lot of people have been here a long time and are not happy with how it's been every day. "I feel we're turning that around and building consistency in behaviour and work, real work. "While the consistency of performance is not quite there, if we keep doing things the right way those other things won't even be a question any more.' There wasn't much consistency to Rangers play against Plzen. A scintillating opener at Ibrox was followed up by a shambolic second leg in Bohemia as Gers held on to progress despite a 2-1 defeat - the first of Martin's reign. "Ultimately we did too many things 'sometimes',' he explained. "If it's right for us, it's always right for us - regardless of the situation. "We should always run, always look after the ball. "The frustration comes when we watch it back. We had opportunities to really hurt the opposition early and we didn't take them well enough. "We turned the ball over too cheaply. "We have won two really tricky ties by scoring two goals and three goals at Ibrox. "Then we go in against teams who had nothing to lose. "It changed the context of the games. "We needed more actions early in the game where we were really clean with the ball. "We could have hurt the opposition and taken a bit of their energy away. But we didn't do it. "It's a brilliant learning for the players. If we were a bit cleaner in our execution, the games could have been completely different.' Rangers will now look to progress too in the Premier Sports Cup as they host League One Alloa today (SATURDAY). For some fans, a showdown with lower league opposition might act as a PTSD trigger for those still living with flashbacks of last year's disastrous Queen's Park upset. But Martin said: 'Last season is completely gone. We've parked that. I don't see any benefit in me bringing that up. 'No we focus on this game and being better than Tuesday.'
