He said he regretted such a perception due to the handful of police officers and personnel when the majority have been performing their duties with integrity and dedication, Bernama reported. Ayob Khan added that corruption-related offences must be dealt with firmly, regardless of the rank of the individuals involved. He said he had never compromised with any officers or personnel involved in such offences during his tenure as Johor police chief, director of the Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department (NCID), and director of the Bukit Aman criminal investigation department (CID). 'In Johor, when I served as police chief, some officers and personnel were subjected to action under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma). 'At the NCID, officers with the ranks of superintendent, ASP, and inspector were also placed under Special Preventive Measures,' he was quoted as saying after the launch of the book 'Antologi Puisi Makan Suap' at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) in Kuala Lumpur last night. He also stressed that attempts to cover up corruption cases involving police officers to protect the reputation of the force would only allow such activities to fester and become harder to prevent. 'I will not compromise. If I detect such cases, the first step is to refer major cases to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). 'The second step is to open an investigation paper, and the third is to initiate disciplinary proceedings,' he said. Meanwhile, in his speech at the book launch, Ayob Khan said he would continue to speak out, reprimand, and remind all police officers and personnel about the disgraceful and humiliating nature of corrupt practices. He also reaffirmed his firm stance to tackle this reprehensible culture, despite attempts by a few parties, both within and outside the force, to portray corruption in the police force as difficult to eradicate. He added that Bukit Aman remains committed to upholding integrity, particularly in tackling corruption and abuse of power, and will continue to ensure that national security and public order are maintained while delivering services at the highest standard.

Police probe TikTok account, launch disciplinary action in Zara Qairina case
THE Royal Malaysia Police has launched dual investigations into the case of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir, focusing both on misinformation spread online and alleged procedural failures by officers in the initial probe of her death. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M Kumar S Muthuvelu said police are investigating TikTok account @berjuanguntukzara for uploading inaccurate and misleading content. He warned that unverified claims could confuse the public and undermine the investigation. The case is being probed under the Sedition Act 1948, Penal Code Section 505(b) for causing public fear, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of online services. Separately, Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department will open disciplinary proceedings against three Sabah police officers – a superintendent district police chief, an assistant superintendent CID head, and an inspector – for lapses in handling the case. 'They must be held accountable. Firm action will be taken against those who failed to act or supervise properly,' he said. Zara, a Form One student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, was found unconscious in a drain near her hostel on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor. Kelantan records 15 school bullying cases, 22 students detained
KOTA BARU: Kelantan police have recorded 15 cases of bullying in schools since January last year, leading to the arrest of 22 students. State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the cases were logged between January last year and July this year in six districts: Kota Baru, Gua Musang, Tumpat, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Tanah Merah. He said all of the cases occurred in schools, and not in colleges or religious schools. Of the total cases, Kota Baru recorded the highest number with seven, followed by Pasir Puteh with three and Tanah Merah with two. Mohd Yusoff said most of the 22 students arrested were male. Four of the cases have been brought to court, while the others are still under investigation. He said all cases are being investigated under several sections of the Penal Code: Section 147 for rioting, Section 148 for possessing weapons during a riot, Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, and Section 324 for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means. Mohd Yusoff said the situation in Kelantan remained under control, and police continued to monitor developments through school liaison officers. "Police, through our school liaison officers, not only monitor bullying cases in schools but also other criminal offences," he said.
