Rain hits Sydney's City2Surf as thousands run from CBD to Bondi

Sky News AU3 days ago
Runners in Sydney's City2Surf are facing wet conditions as the running event kicks off in the CBD, with its scores of participants destined for Bondi.
There was plenty of rain on the radar shortly before 8am on Sunday as the first groups of runners began the 14km run.
There would have been some regretful sighs as people laced up in the early hours; areas of Sydney received about 6mm of rain between 4.30am and 7am.
The harbour city is forecast to receive about 10mm of rain for the day. Winds are also forecast to ramp up to 35km/h in the late morning.
It comes after forecasts a massive cloud bank - estimated to be roughly the size of Western Australia - would soak millions of Aussies throughout the weekend.
It would be only the latest drenching for Sydneysiders, with the city recording its wettest August in almost a decade, according to Weatherzone.
Elsewhere in NSW, flood waters are easing in the northwestern slopes of New England. Major flooding at Wee Waa continues to fall, after the Naomi River peaked on Thursday night.
But the river is causing minor flooding to the west at Bugilbone and is forecast to rise Sunday night into Monday.
The Namoi River at Goangra was at 5.57m and rising on Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology says. The river may exceed the moderate flood level (6.7m) on Wednesday and could reach 7.50m on Friday.
Elsewhere, there are frost warnings in place Sunday for much of regional Victoria. People in parts of the Northern Country, North Central, North East, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland should be wary of frost.
