Emirates Group renews Rolls-Royce Leadership Programme for UAE Nationals
Emirates Group has renewed its Rolls-Royce Leadership Programme for another 5 years, as part of its continued efforts to develop and empower the UAE national leadership skills and competencies.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the renewal was signed by Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates Airline and Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer, Rolls-Royce, with senior executives from both organisations present.
The extended agreement will ensure five additional cohorts benefit from the airline's bespoke training module for UAE Nationals, offering them better access and resources to support their career progression. To date, 175 graduates across 11 cohorts have completed the programme. Many of the graduates now hold senior leadership roles in different parts of the business across the Emirates Group.
The Rolls-Royce Leadership Programme is the Emirates Group's flagship leadership development initiative, designed to equip its UAE National workforce with the necessary skills to drive business success and prepare them for future leadership roles. The renewed programme will feature an enhanced curriculum which will cover Financial Management and Commercial Acumen; Sustainability; Emerging Technologies and The Future of Work and Strategy, Personal Impact, and Innovation.

Sheikh Ahmed also thanked the Syrian authorities for their support in restoring air links between Dubai and Damascus, and expressed optimism about enhancing connectivity through regularly scheduled operations. Emirates will deploy a 302-seat Boeing 777-200LR on the route. The service is expected to boost travel options across the airline's global network of nearly 150 destinations, while also supporting the UAE's efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and assist Syria's rebuilding efforts in sectors such as energy, construction, and agriculture. Customers flying to and from Damascus will benefit from the airline's codeshare agreement with flydubai, offering greater scheduling flexibility and convenience. Emirates originally launched flights to Damascus in 1988 and had carried over 2.1 million passengers on the route before suspending operations in 2012. The airline currently serves 13 cities across the Middle East and GCC, operating a total of 191 weekly flights in the region. flydubai Launches Daily Flights to Damascus Dubai-based carrier The airline will now operate daily flights to the Syrian capital, marking the first UAE-based commercial flight to Syria in nearly 12 years. Emirates to resume Damascus flights
Emirates Airline will restart operations to Syria's capital city of Damascus from July 16 with three flights a week and daily services to take off from October 26. It will initially start with services on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday, with departures from Dubai planned at 1200 and return from Damascus at 1630 on board a 302-seater Boeing 777-200LR. The airline said it plans to expand the services to four times a week from August 2, with an additional flight on Saturday, and daily operations to begin from October 26. The move follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority's decision earlier this year to restart air travel between the UAE and Syria, and comes a day after flydubai resumed direct flights to Damascus. 'Emirates is pleased to restart operations to Damascus and support Syria's road ahead by providing better choice and connectivity, essential economic links for inwards investment as well as opening new trade lanes and global market access for the country," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group. The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft will feature 38 Business Class seats alongside 264 seats in Economy Class. Emirates commenced services to Damascus in 1988, and prior to suspending operations in 2012 the airline carried over 2.1 million passengers in and out of Syria.
