Katy Perry cried onstage while singing about troubled romance weeks before Orlando Bloom split

Katy Perry wept openly onstage in Mexico City, in resurfaced fan footage that was filmed just weeks before her split from Orlando Bloom went public. A blizzard of rumors swirled this Wednesday that Katy and Orlando have gone their separate ways after a nine-year romance that produced their daughter Daisy, four. Seemingly confirming the conjecture, Orlando then went to Venice alone to attend Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's lavish Italian wedding celebration. While he mingles with the Kardashians, goes boating with Tom Brady and gets a pep talk from Oprah Winfrey, Katy is in Australia for her Lifetimes Tour. But an unearthed clip from the beginning of the tour this April, Katy was seen already apparently battling with some private anguish onstage. The 40-year-old sang through her tears as she delivered a rendition of her 2010 song Pearl, which is about leaving a troubled relationship. ❤️‍🩹 — Katy Perry Italia | Katycats Italia 🇮🇹 (@katycatsita) April 26, 2025 At one point she took the microphone away from her face and emotionally screamed out the lyric: 'I let him rule my world!' The California born pop act then gathered herself for the next lines: 'But I woke up and grew strong, and I can still go on and no one can take my pearl.' Her Lifetimes Tour began with the Mexico City shows in April, for which she was roundly derided over her 'mom moves.' In backstage footage she posted to Instagram from the Mexican capital, she explained that she had been 'struggling for the past few things with my voice, having a flu-cold thing' and also mentioned the city's famously high altitude. Her tour began in the immediate aftermath of her controversial all-female Blue Origin space flight - which was launched by Jeff with Lauren as one of the passengers. In the wake of this week's breakup reports, Orlando, 48, was spotted Thursday in what appeared to be a deep and heartfelt conversation with none other than Oprah on the eve of Jeff and Lauren's wedding in Venice. Bloom leaned in intently, hands clasped behind his back, as the queen of self-help placed her hands on his shoulders — seemingly offering him a private dose of wisdom and encouragement amid his split from Katy. While the star-studded crowd partied around them, Bloom and Oprah looked like they were in a world of their own, locked in a moment that felt more life-coach than cocktail hour. At one point, Oprah even held Orlando's face in her hands, clearly giving him her full attention as they shared a surprisingly tender moment. has contacted representatives for Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry for comment. The pep talk came just before Bloom was seen hugging his celebrity stylist friend in the back of a Venetian water taxi. Meanwhile, Perry is halfway across the world in Australia, putting on a brave face as she continues her tour with four-year-old daughter Daisy in tow. The pop star shared snippets of her trip on Instagram, including a playful video posing with an adorable quokka — the country's famously photogenic marsupial. In a touching moment, she also posted a rare photo of her and Orlando's daughter, giving fans a sweet glimpse into their mother-daughter adventure Down Under. Later at the billionaire bash, Bloom ditched his outfit for a tank top and shorts, showing off his sculpted physique — perhaps sending a subtle message to his ex about what she's missing. On Friday, revealed the stylist Orlando was spotted in an embrace in the back of a Venetian water taxi is his ex-fiancée Katy's stylist Jamie Mizrahi, 36, who is also close to Meghan Markle. A blizzard of rumors swirled Wednesday that Katy and Orlando have gone their separate ways after a nine-year romance; pictured in2024 Jamie, who lives in Montecito, California with her husband Nico, is friends with Meghan Markle and has had a long-term working relationship with Meghan's neighbor Perry as well as Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence, Britney Spears and a host of other stars. The mother-of-two, nicknamed 'sweet Jamie' by friends, is also responsible for Adele's show-stopping wardrobe on stage and is describe by industry insiders as the 'go-to stylist for every Hollywood A-Lister'. The news came as Perry received a sweet message from bride-to-be Lauren Sanchez today, declaring on social media: 'We miss you Katy'. Speculation surrounding Bloom and Perry's relationship was finally put to rest on Thursday, with insiders confirming the longtime couple has gone their separate ways. The pair first began dating in 2016, endured a brief split, and reunited in 2018. Bloom popped the question the following year, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020. Rumors of trouble began swirling earlier this month, with reports hinting at mounting tension behind the scenes. Sources claimed that the underwhelming response to Perry's latest album 143, the backlash over her much-mocked Blue Origin spaceflight, and the demands of her current Lifetimes Tour all contributed to strain in the relationship. Adding fuel to the fire, Perry has recently been spotted without her engagement ring. As of now, neither Bloom nor Perry has addressed the breakup publicly. Meanwhile, Sánchez was spotted stepping out of the luxurious Aman hotel on Friday morning, marking her first public appearance of the day before heading to Venice's San Giorgio Maggiore island—where she's set to tie the knot with Bezos. Dubbed the 'wedding of the century,' the 55-year-old former broadcaster and the 61-year-old Amazon founder have brought nearly 200 high-profile guests to Venice for a lavish, multi-day celebration. Although the formal ceremony is set for today, it emerged last night that Bezos and Sánchez have already made things official with a legal marriage ahead of time. Their pre-wedding festivities, held at the historic Madonna dell'Orto cloisters, were nearly derailed by an unexpected thunderstorm that sent guests—Kylie Jenner among them—scrambling for cover. Celebrity friends including Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tom Brady touched down in Italy earlier this week to witness the couple's nuptials, which follow Bezos' 2023 proposal aboard his $500 million yacht. But the lead-up hasn't been entirely smooth—planned protests reportedly forced a last-minute change in venue, adding a dose of drama to the already headline-making affair.

Five Great Reads: King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, a mysterious skyjacker, and Albania's Trump Island

Happy Saturday! The world felt like a scary place this week, but these five reads kept me going – as did the campaigners who forced Jeff Bezos to relocate his wedding in Venice. If only we got the inflatable crocodiles – but at least there was a Bezos lookalike confusing the crowds. Continuing with the theme of the rich, Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, have spent more than $1bn on an Albanian island – one of the last undeveloped islands in the Mediterranean. Unlike in Venice, the Albanian prime minister, Edi Rama, has welcomed the purchase of Sazan Island, saying 'We need luxury tourism like a desert needs water.' Albanians call Sazan Ishulli i Trumpëve – Trump Island. Until now mostly untrammelled by development, the island, which was once home to a military base, is on the verge of becoming a mecca for ultra-luxury tourism – once the unexploded ordnance has been removed. Environmental concerns: Environmentalists such as Olsi Nika, a marine biologist and the director of the NGO EcoAlbania, are worried about the development. 'This area is in the Karaburun-Sazan maritime national park. It means the beaches and waters within 2km (1.25 miles) of the shore are protected. What will large public works, the building of docks, yacht traffic and sewage run-off do to the place?' How long will it take to read: five minutes. It's been hard to shake the image that the character Lena Dunham's landmark series, Girls, gave Allison Williams. In this interview, the actor reflects on privilege, growing up with a famous parent, and her role in sci-fi horror film M3gan. What does she think of AI, tech and parenting? Williams recounts using ChatGPT to answer one of her three-year-old son's questions. 'Watching what happened to his face was like when Gemma sees her niece interacting with M3gan. Like, I have connected my kid to a drug, this is so immediately addictive and intoxicating,' she says. She quickly put her phone away and made a mental note to go to the library next time to get out a book. 'I can't justify it, logically,' she says. 'It just felt like an innate instinct.' And her thoughts on Botox? She loves having it when she's not filming – 'because, you know, you need to make facial expressions when you're shooting'. How long will it take to read: five minutes. Further reading: if you want to be really terrified, read what Paula Cocozza learned recording thousands of hours of teenagers on their phones. This year marks 80 years since the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing more than 200,000 people. Today, every one of the crew members who carried out the bombings is dead. One of the last writers to interview them reopens his files. 'Just in the last week, war has broken out in the Middle East over fears that Iran may be very close to having a bomb. In such times, perspective matters … History has lessons to teach us.'. How long will it take to read: 11 minutes. 'It's like the best book I've ever read, but I'm missing the first and last chapters,' podcaster Darren Schaefer tells writer Daniel Lavelle, who both potentially suffer from the 'Cooper curse' (a term coined by author Geoffrey Gray about being totally obsessed with the case). I've personally still got whiplash from the opening of this story. Will Enzo Fernandez be punished for racism row? Latest update on Chelsea star's inflammatory song about Kylian Mbappe

ENZO FERNANDEZ takes on his old club Benfica tonight at the heart of the Chelsea revolution under boss Enzo Maresca. The Portuguese giants made a staggering £96million PROFIT when they sold the Argentinian midfielder to the Blues in 2023 — just six months after buying him for £10m. 2 2 Even so, the fixture reopens old wounds over his departure — and a most unsavoury incident which took place a year ago next month. Benfica were angry at the way they claimed Chelsea unsettled their player and then ducked and dived during negotiations. But that's business. What is not 'business' is the cloud of racism hanging over the Blues' vice-captain that is not yet fully cleared. Fans back in England have seen plenty of great football from Fernandez this past 12 months. But nothing has been heard from the authorities charged with investigating the moment of madness that has followed the player around since he went viral for all the wrong reasons. Fernandez, 24, was filmed heartily joining in with dreadful songs alongside his Argentina team-mates questioning the heritage of black French players. The midfielder had just won Copa America for his country, only to let himself down massively when he should have been in a celebratory mood. With a large contingent of black French players in Chelsea's squad — Wesley Fofana, Malo Gusto, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi — the reaction was understandably incendiary. The Instagram post also carried a transphobic jibe at French superstar Kylian Mbappe and a reported relationship with transgender model Ines Rau. Fernandez apologised profusely. Fofana and those affected by the bombshell video say they have accepted it and have moved on. Club World Cup 2025 Guide SOME of the world's biggest clubs are in action at this summer's Club World Cup in the United States! Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Man City, and Inter Miami are among the 32 teams taking part in the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13. The likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Ousmane Dembele, Cole Palmer and Harry Kane are showcasing their skills to packed crowds across the US. Watch EVERY match of the Club World Cup 2025 on DAZN INFO Everything you need to know about the Club World Cup LATEST NEWS & FEATURES There certainly does not appear to be any disharmony over it within the Chelsea camp. For that, those players in the dressing room who were so hurt by the rash actions of a team-mate deserve unreserved respect and admiration. News of a 'probe' being launched was posted on social media not long after Argentina had beaten Colombia 1-0 in the final yet there is still no conclusion. Fifa says it is the responsibility of South America's governing body Conmebol and SunSport has contacted them for an update — but is yet to receive a reply. Fernandez made a donation to an anti-discrimination charity as well as saying sorry to his team-mates, say Chelsea. And the club also claimed they would use the episode as an opportunity to 're-educate' their player. At the last time of asking there was no clear detail available of what that actually entails. The club wants to keep it in-house. And, in a remarkable show of defiance, new head coach Maresca backed his man by making him captain for the opening Premier League game of last season against Manchester City. Fernandez appears to have put the whole thing behind him and is now a key figure in a team that is back in the Champions League. But the silence around the investigation into a moment of madness that went worldwide within hours — and damaged the reputation of a fine player and an upstanding football club — is deafening.
