Body of woman with gunshot wound found in Roodepoort veld
Police are investigating a case of murder after the discovery of a woman's body, believed to be in her early 30s, in an open veld in Braamfischerville Phase 4 on June 4.
According to the police's Johannesburg District communications co-ordinator, Lieutenant Colonel Mpho Tshetlhane, the body was discovered and reported to police by a passer-by at about 08:00.

'Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found the woman lying in a pool of blood,' she says.
'Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman sustained a bullet wound to the head. She was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
'No one has been arrested yet, and police investigations are continuing.'
The police are appealing to community members with information regarding the incident, or that might assist police investigations, to contact Dobsonville Police Station on 079 525 1365 or 079 525 1373.
Alternatively, they can report any information at their nearest police station or via the police Crime Stop number, 08600 10111.
'They can also use the MySAPS App to provide tip-offs anonymously.'
This is the latest incident in what seems to be a spike in similar cases in recent months, with the bodies of two women found in a veld in Matholesville in April.
Meanwhile, the search for 21-year-old Tshepisong student Tshegofatso Mothobi is still ongoing after she went missing on May 20.

Man's body found floating in stream
BOIPATONG – Residents of Boipatong woke up to a chilling scene when the lifeless body of an unknown African man was discovered floating in a partially iced stream. On June 9, dozens of bystanders braved the cold weather and drizzling showers to watch as local police and emergency services retrieved the body from murky water. When Ster arrived at the scene, the remains of the deceased were floating face upwards, with both his hands over his body. Speaking to the paper, Boipatong police spokesperson Constable Selina Mthimkhulu said their members were called shortly after 06:00. 'On arrival, our officers cordoned off the scene and walked towards the bridge where the body of an unknown African male was found lying dead.' Members from the SAPS water wing, led by Warrant Officer Vermeulen, helped to retrieve the body. 'The man was wearing a brown jersey, blue Fabian T-shirt, blue jeans, and a grey all-star tekkie,' Mthimkhulu said. Medical personnel on the scene confirmed the man had visible bruises on both jaws, raising suspicions of foul play. Mthimkhulu confirmed further investigations are underway. Sakhile police grab two women for mob killing
Two women are appearing in the Standerton Magistrate's Court today in connection with murder and attempted murder. According to Lieutenant-Colonel Jabu Ndubane, Mpumalanga police spokesperson, the duo cornered the a man and woman in Sakhile, accusing them stealing R1 000 at a recent party they attended. The two women forced the victim to one of the assailant's home where they were then assaulted with an electric cable cord, a shovel, and a knife. Ndubane said when the attackers realised the woman was unconscious, they took her to a nearby clinic where she was declared dead. The deceased had fatal stab wounds on her back and several bruises on her body. According to the Ndubane, her injuries were so severe that her head was swollen. The man is currently in the hospital. Although stable for now, his condition remains critical.
