Saiyami Kher talks about tackling roles that mirror her, those that don't
Actress and fitness enthusiast Saiyami Kher shared that playing characters both completely different from her and those that closely resemble her come with their own unique set of challenges. Asked if she finds it harder to play a character completely different from herself or one that closely resembles her, Saiyami told IANS: 'Both come with their own set of challenges. When I play someone like me, it requires deep introspection and a kind of emotional vulnerability that can be intense—there's no hiding.'
'But stepping into the shoes of someone completely different is equally demanding—it takes empathy, imagination, and the willingness to unlearn. At the end of the day, both are about surrendering your ego and letting the character take over,' added the actress, who made her Telugu debut with 'Rey' and her Hindi debut with 'Mirzya.' If her life were a movie, what would the title be? Pat came the reply from the actress, who was last seen on screen in 'Agni': ''Saiyami Rakho'. Because life really is about having saiyam—patience, perseverance, and grace under pressure.'
Asked why, she said: 'I've learned that things may not happen on your timeline, but with consistency and belief, they always find their way. It's not about rushing to the next thing, but about staying steady through it all.' Looking forward, Saiyami latest film is 'Jaat,' starring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, 'Jaat' also stars Vineet Kumar Singh, and Regina Cassandra. Actress Urvashi Rautela is doing a dance number in the film. 'Jaat' features the soundtrack composed by Thaman S. and Rishi Punjabi behind the lens as the director of photography. The editing is done by Navin Nooli, while Avinash Kolla's production design will transport audiences into the heart of the film's gripping world. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, the film released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on April 10. Meanwhile, Saiyami has talked about her guilty pleasures and revealed that she indulges in 'anything chocolate' and is also drawn to Hindi classics by Kishore Kumar and R.D. Burman, as they never get old. Asked what her guilty pleasure is in food, music, and binge-worthy shows, Saiyami told IANS, 'Anything chocolate food-wise. Music-wise, I'm always drawn to old Hindi classics—Kishore Kumar, R.D. Burman—they never get old.'
Saiyami shared she cannot get over 'Adolescence,' a show that centers on a 13-year-old schoolboy named Jamie Miller, who is arrested after the murder of a girl in his school. 'As for shows, there are so many... I just can't get over Adolescence. It's one of the most brilliant things I have watched. But when I need something easy, 'Friends' and 'Schitt's Creek' are all-time favorites.'
A perfect day off for Saiyami starts with a 'run' early in the morning. 'An early morning run while the world is still quiet, and then going on a film set and living a character. Being on a film set with like-minded people who are professional and nice is the best thing in the world.

Being a Maharashtrian, I've always been fascinated by folklore: Sharvari
As 'Munjya' completed a year since its release in Hindi cinema, actress Sharvari celebrated the moment and said that being a Maharashtrian, she has always been fascinated by mythology and folklore. She said: 'Being a Maharashtrian, I've always been fascinated by mythology and folklore. I had heard of Munjya growing up, but when this script came to me, the level of detail and imagination just blew my mind.' The actress said that she thoroughly enjoyed shooting for the film. Sharvari added: 'We all had a great rapport on set which made things easy. Munjya was India's first CGI actor... There was no character reference that we could see so we all had an imagination and we were acting/reacting on our own.' The idea of Marathi folklore becoming a big-scale Hindi film excited Sharvari instantly. She said: 'And with Aditya Sarpotdar sir directing it, I was thrilled. I've seen most of his films and they have been mind-blowing. We also shot in the Konkan belt, and he was so well-versed with everyone there — the language, the terrain, the food, the delicacies. We learnt a great deal from him.' Talking about the film, Sharvari said, 'I still can't believe it's already been a year since Munjya released. Playing Bela was such a creatively fulfilling experience, but what truly took me by surprise was the overwhelming love audiences showed for our dance track 'Taras.'' 'For someone just starting out, having a producer like Dinesh Vijan sir back me with such a big, high-energy number was surreal.' The actress said that she has only seen 'established actors or dancing idols getting big dance numbers because they have the pull and the popularity to hook people's interest.' 'It is a great pat on my shoulders that I can do it too and try to have a hit dance anthem to my credit!' Sharvari further shared, 'To see Munjya cross the ₹100-crore mark and still be so loved a year later feels surreal. And the fan celebration today made it all even more special. Walking into the dance workshop and seeing their faces light up genuinely moved me.' 'I got to thank them in person for carrying Bela and 'Taras' with them over the past year. One of them even asked me to do the hookstep — and of course, I had to join in! We danced together, shared laughs, and they even surprised me with a sweet birthday gift for the film's anniversary.' She said that it was one of those full-heart moments that reminded her exactly why she loves 'being part of cinema.' Munjya, a horror comedy also stars Abhay Verma, Sathyaraj and Mona Singh. The titular character was entirely created using CGI. It is the third installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and focuses on the legend of Munjya, inspired by Indian folklore and mythology.
