Barbecue season is synonymous with smoky flavours, summer gatherings, and al fresco dining. However, the struggle to ignite the charcoal can sometimes make it feel like a chore.
Well-known kitchen-tech brand Ninja, renowned for its air fryers, also produces a variety of outdoor cooking appliances, including an electric barbecue. Ninja's Woodfire Electric barbecue Grill and Smoker is marketed as an electric barbecue grill and smoker with a wide range of cooking functions. This garden gadget carries a hefty £299.99 price tag.
Nonetheless, a current £50 discount from Ninja brings it down to a slightly more affordable £249.99.
The device is operated via the dial and buttons on the front, making it simple to preheat and cook foods to precise specifications.
Chris Hall, a writer, reviewed the Woodfire Electric barbecue Grill and Smoker for Chronicle Live, and he was "blown away by the experience".
Chris added: "Unlike traditional charcoal BBQs, lighting the Woodfire is a breeze, meaning you'll be ready to cook in roughly 15 minutes. The smart feature – and the one that gives the Woodfire its name – is a hopper on the side of the lid where you can add flavoured wood pellets.

"These will ignite and burn, with the smoke being drawn into the Ninja and circulated with your food. This adds a great aroma, it adds flavour, and it adds a little excitement to your outdoor cooking. Yes, it's not like a charcoal BBQ, but it's closer than a normal electric barbecue."
Chris points out that the gadget's size could be an issue, stating: "If there's a downside to the Ninja Woodfire, it's the size of the grill. You'll just about feed a family of four using it, but if you're planning a barbecue in your garden, then you can only cook about 16 sausages at a time, so for a large gathering, you might need something bigger."
There are other options for outdoor cooking devices on the market. For instance, this Weber Bar-B-Kettle is available for the mid-range price of £120 at Argos.
The coal-based grill features a porcelain-enamelled bowl, and the lid retains heat for consistent and even cooking.
Meanwhile, this Electric barbecue (£200) is new-in at B&Q. It's designed with instant ignition for quick start-up and precise temperature control to take the guessing work out of cooking times. For the latest restaurant news and reviews, sign up to our food and drink newsletter here
The Ninja Woodfire is a culinary game-changer with its dual heating elements, one at the bottom and another on the lid, allowing it to cook from both sides. It boasts a fan in the lid that not only circulates heat like an air fryer but also infuses food with a smoky barbecue flavour.
The device features a griddle plate at its base, perfect for searing steaks or burgers without open flames.
Chris said: "There's a model with a stand, but I've just been using it on my garden table), so getting started takes no time at all."
It arrives mostly assembled and includes a recipe book that guides cooks through various settings for different foods, including ribs, wings, and veggies, and explains how to utilise the Woodfire's multiple functions.
For those who love smoked dishes, the Ninja Woodfire doubles as a smoker using wood pellets, with two packets provided complimentary. It's versatile enough to roast a whole chicken, bake, dehydrate, or reheat meals.
Conveniently powered by an external plug socket, it eliminates the need for gas or charcoal and is designed to create minimal mess.

Cleaning the Ninja Woodfire is straightforward, as the cooking plate can be detached, although it requires hand washing since it's not suitable for the dishwasher.

Best Ninja deals to expect for Amazon Prime Day 2025

Amazon Prime Day 2025 is fast approaching, with big savings expected across a range of different brands, including one of our favourites for kitchen appliances, Ninja. You may have been looking to invest in one of its famous air fryers, or had your eye on its viral Ninja creami and slushi dessert tools during the heatwave. Ninja also sells everything from bakeware and blenders to pan sets and slow cookers. Prime Day can be an excellent time to bag a bargain on the brand. So, to save you sifting through the offers, we've rounded up all the best Ninja deals that you won't want to miss out on, with some early offers already catching our eye. We'll be sure to keep this page updated as and when new deals are added to help you make the most of the four-day sale. When will Ninja Prime Day deals start in 2025? It has been confirmed that this year's Prime Day deals will start on Tuesday 8 July and finish up at midnight on Friday 11 July. This means you'll have four full days to shop the best Ninja deals. Given how popular its products are, Ninja deals typically go live as soon as Prime Day begins, often just after midnight on the first day of the sale. So, don't forget to set your alarms if you've been waiting for prices to drop on a specific item or items. It's also worth remembering that Prime Day is for Amazon Prime subscribers only. If you're not already signed up, an Amazon Prime membership costs either £8.99 per month or £95 if you choose to sign up for an annual subscription. Alternatively, if you haven't been a member in the last 12 months or have yet to join Prime, you can sign up for a free 30 day trial to take advantage of the savings next month. Ninja has plenty of impressive air fryers to choose from, but if you're short on countertop space and don't want another appliance taking up room, the double stack XL is an excellent choice. Flipping the typical dual drawer air fryer on its head, quite literally, to make the most of the vertical space in your kitchen, this slimline design was a big hit with our reviewer. They praised its 'sync function, which lets you cook two different things at different temperatures and durations', as well as its size that's 'slimmer than some single-drawer air fryers'. As you'll find over the course of Prime Day, other retailers such as John Lewis and Argos will be price-matching many of Amazon's deals, so it's always worthwhile checking. Especially if they throw in extra perks such as longer warranties or free delivery. With the recent bout of warm weather, we have a feeling that many of us will have been craving ice cream and frozen desserts to help cool us down. So, really there's no better time to invest in one of the best ice cream makers. And the Ninja creami deluxe is a true standout. While we tested the original Ninja creami, this updated deluxe version has a number of additional functions, giving you the options to make frozen drinks, slushies, frappés and frozen yoghurt with ease. It also comes with larger tubs than its predecessor. If your pots and pans have seen better days or are a bit of a mismatched mess in your kitchen drawers, there's currently a massive £100 off Ninja's bestselling zerostick ceramic pro 5-piece pan set. Consisting of two frying pans, a milk pan, as well as two saucepans with glass lids, it's a great starter kit to help you whip up some of your favourite dishes and meals. Ninja says its pans are safe to use alongside metal utensils and heat-proof up to 350°C, so you don't need to worry about them chipping or scratching as you use them. One of Ninja's latest innovations is also on sale. An air fryer with a difference, the crispi makes use of glass bowls instead of traditional drawers to allow you to keep an eye on your food as it cooks. These also double up as storage containers as and when you need them. Given that it only launched in the UK a couple of months ago, the 31 per cent discount is a brilliant one. In his review of the Ninja crispi, our senior tech critic, Alex Lee, praised how 'utterly versatile' it is and 'since you can see everything through the glass, there's never any second-guessing as to when your food is crisped to perfection'. According to Alex, 'this could really be the future of air frying'. So, why not take advantage of the sale to try it out for yourself. Shopping for the best kitchen knife sets? Ninja's staysharp knife block took the title of best set with a sharpener, with it getting high praise from our tester. As well as five kitchen knives, this set also comes with a pair of scissors. The integrated sharpener 'means you'll always have super-sharp knives with little effort', according to our reviewer. Ninja says they should last you at least 10 years if you sharpen them regularly. Our consumer editor, Sabrina, has had the set for just over two years, and with regular sharpening, they work just as well as the day she started using them. Ninja foodi 9-in-1 multi cooker: Was £229.99, now £108.97, As you might expect from the name, Ninja's multi cooker provides you with a number of different ways to cook your favourite dishes or experiment with new recipes. From pressure and slow cooking to grilling, steaming and baking, it also allows you to air fry, dehydrate, sear and even make yoghurt, all in one device. At less than half price, there's more than £120 off at the moment. This makes it the lowest price that we've ever seen it at on Amazon.

The rugged new Ford Explorer Tremor is ready to climb mountains

The rugged new Ford Explorer Tremor is ready to climb mountains Or just make it through the urban jungle. Is this the sweet spot of the Explorer range? Skip 12 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 12 Today, the Ford Explorer joins the Tremor family and frankly, this one's a no-brainer. While the recent three-row Expedition Tremor SUV certainly has its use cases, the Explorer is second only to the F-150 in Ford sales. This means a far wider range of drivers can opt into having what is potentially a top-tier all-rounder. An all-rounder with either the same 300hp 2.3-liter 'EcoBoost' turbo I4 the standard vehicle comes with, or the 400hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that powers the sporty Explorer ST. Notable Tremor upgrades include off-road-ready suspension with more rugged springs and sway bars not found on the regular SUV. Advertisement - Page continues below The ride's been raised an inch and as such, the approach and departure angles have been improved, with skid pads included in the front and back for when those limits are put to the test. A new limited-slip diff and 18in all-terrain tires round out the new hardware. In terms of software, you can expect the Explorer Tremor to include the latest Ford suite of digital doodads, including Google's Maps, assistant, and compatible apps from Google Play. There's also a 14-speaker B&O speaker system to bump tunes with and Copilot 360 assist, which among other functions provides 360 degrees of view around the car, now presumably for more than supermarket parking lot use. Naturally, Ford will include BlueCruise 1.5, the latest iteration of its hand-free driving assist for use on the highways towards your next great adventure. 'Tremor all the things' has seemingly been the mantra over at Dearborn, and from the Maverick to the Expedition, we've been sufficiently impressed. The Tremor-branded cars have proven to be the 'sweet spots' in the lineup, without splurging on the pricey and more extreme Raptor lineup, if there is even a Raptor version of your chosen Ford. Ninja says the weather-resistant BBQ is perfect for gardens, patios, balconies and even campsites. It has a handy 1.6-metre power cord and comes with a woodfire pellet starter pack, a pellet scoop, a crisper basket and a chef-created recipe guide. For shoppers also interested in purchasing a barbecue stand, additional pellets and extra accessories, Ninja's Woodfire Electric BBQ & Grill bundle is also on sale for £299.99, down from £484.99. This appliance is now priced at £96.99, down from £145, and has useful side racks and hooks. Over 1,700 Ninja customers have reviewed the Woodfire Electric BBQ Grill & Smoker to date. With an impressive overall rating of 4.8 out of five. One thrilled shopper said: "Bought this for my husband to replace our BBQ and it has been amazing so far. "We've done steak, burgers, corn on the cobs, baked bread, and we've even made our own pizzas and cooked them on the grill setting. They've been the best we've had. Very impressed so far." Another buyer wrote: "Great quality grill. I hate traditional barbecues and all the extra work they take, so I purchased this beauty. "It's sturdy, easy to use, and I love the tilted drainage function. The smoker gives it the authentic barbeque taste but without the hassle. It's easy to clean and easy to store." One person was less impressed with the Woodfire Electric BBQ Grill & Smoker, as they explained: "Far too heavy, so returned. It's a nice-looking bit of kit, but the unit is so heavy that neither my husband nor I could pick it up." It's a great addition to our family camping set up too, offering a wider range of meals available for us to cook."
