Nick Chubb explains why he signed with Texans over other teams this offseason
Why did Nick Chubb sign with the Houston Texans?
It wasn't because it was the only team interested in the four-time Pro Bowl running back. Reports came out after Chubb inked a one-year, $2.5 million deal that he left "money on the table" to join the back-to-back AFC South champions.
As Chubb puts it, respect played a massive role. The four-time Pro Bowler was a big fan of head coach DeMeco Ryans and likes what the team is about, so when the call came from his agent, the timing seemed perfect.
"The past two years, they've really turned it on," Chubb said during his first interview with the media Wednesday. "So, I know I had a chance to come here and win a lot of games surrounded by a great group of people.'
A seven-year veteran, Chubb is expected to back up Joe Mixon and compete for reps in an offense that missed having a stable No. 2 rushing option. Over his time in Cleveland, Chubb watched Mixon transform into one of the league's more consistent running backs in Cincinnati before his trade last offseason.
Chubb is also a fan of Mixon and knows that his strengths will complement the attributes that made the Pro Bowler stand out last season in Houston.
"We'll be great together,' Chubb said. 'He's a bigger guy, tall, explosive, he runs super hard and I do the same thing. So doing that back-to-back will make it hard for defenses.'
The Texans return to practice for the start of training camp in late July.

Former Viking Shaquill Griffin set to visit the Las Vegas Raiders during minicamp
Former Viking Shaquill Griffin set to visit the Las Vegas Raiders during minicamp One of the more underrated members of the Minnesota Vikings' defense in 2024 is one step closer to officially not returning for a re-run in 2025. Shaquill Griffin, who played in all 17 games and started three last year for the Vikings, visited the Las Vegas Raiders this week, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Raiders are coached by Pete Carroll, who drafted Griffin in 2017 as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Griffin spent his first four years with Carroll in Seattle, intercepting six passes and breaking up 40. He was selected for his lone Pro Bowl in 2019. The Vikings are comfortable with their current cornerback room and weren't planning on bringing Griffin back. He intercepted two passes in 2024 and posted a respectable 63.7 PFF grade, but he turns 30 next month. If he remains unsigned into training camp and the Vikings don't like the progress they've seen from their young cornerbacks, perhaps they will look to bring Griffin back on another one-year deal. But right now, a potential reunion for him would be with his first head coach in the NFL.

NFL analyst explains what could derail the Rams' 2025 season
NFL analyst explains what could derail the Rams' 2025 season The Los Angeles Rams are not a perfect team entering the 2025 NFL season. While Les Snead and Sean McVay made solid moves in the offseason and the draft to upgrade and augment positions of need, there are still holes on the roster that could make title contention difficult. Bleacher Report's Moe Moton went through what roster flaws could derail each team's season and noted that the Rams' biggest issue is its overall mediocre secondary that lacks a playmaker. "Los Angeles needs help in the secondary," Moton wrote. "So, it makes sense that it has discussed a trade for seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who won a Super Bowl as an All-Pro with the club in 2021. For now, the Rams have a couple of young cornerbacks who flashed last season in Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick and two placeholder starters, Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon. They need a proven high-level playmaker at the position. Ramsey still fits the bill. Last year, he recorded 11 pass breakups and two interceptions while surrendering a passer rating of 83.2 in coverage. If Los Angeles doesn't acquire Ramsey, Durant and Kendrick could be under a lot of pressure as full-time second-year starters. In 2024, Williams struggled in coverage, allowing a 101.7 passer rating. Witherspoon has durability concerns, missing at least four games in six out of eight seasons." Ramsey seems to be the biggest target, especially after McVay hinted that the team isn't interested in the recently released Jaire Alexander. There are a few other potential names, but it's unclear if the Rams are even looking at adding more secondary players. The fortunate element of the Rams' defense is its youth up front. Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner and Byron Young are strong defenders who can attack the opposing offensive line. While the secondary and linebackers are lacking, the hope for L.A. is that defensive coordinator Chris Shula can get the most out of this group so they don't need to spend more salary cap dollars before the season.

Victor Cruz offers bold prediction for 2025 New York Giants
Victor Cruz offers bold prediction for 2025 New York Giants Once a Giant, always a Giant. Former New York Giants Pro Bowl wide receiver Victor Cruz' playing career ended some time ago but he's never too far from the team he once energized and led to a Super Bowl championship. Cruz is always down for some Giants talk and did so with reporters in Jersey City on Thursday at an event to promote the FIFA Club World Cup events, which will take place at MetLife Stadium over the next month. Cruz is optimistic about the Giants' chances this season and likes the makeup of the roster heading into training camp. "I think we have a good team. I think for the first time, [head coach Brian Daboll] has a team in a draft that you could feel he wrapped his arms around," Cruz said, per the New York Post. "These are his guys, and we'll see how he develops them and get them ready to play." Cruz believes the Giants will be above .500 this year and likes the idea of first-round pick Jaxson Dart learning behind two established pros in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Cruz mentioned that Wilson was a "pro's pro" and that Winston's reputation as a "gunslinger" would aid in the development of Dart. 'I think Jaxson could learn some from both of those things,' Cruz said Cruz was one of the many Giants legends who visited the team's facility this spring to impart his wisdom and experience to the current team.
