Did Jason Holder Really Grab 'Catch Of The Decade' During CPL25 And We All Missed It?
Catches win matches, they say. Athleticism on the cricket field, coupled with a safe pair of hands, has yielded some of the most memorable catches we have all collectively witnessed. Jonty Rhodes, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Paul Collingwood, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, AB de Villiers, Suryakumar Yadav, Glenn Phillips, Harleen Deol. Highlights of their catches are already running in your mind, aren't they?
But guess what? West Indies' Jason Holder may have quietly picked up a stunner during a match in the Caribbean Premier League 2025 (CPL), and it has completely gone under the radar.
Well, that might be a little bit of a stretch, and CPL's official X account is to blame for it.
SKNP Vs ABF
It was the first match of the CPL 25 between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKNP) and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF). The game, played on Thursday, turned out to be a low-scoring contest between the two sides.
Imad Wasim, captaining ABF, lost the toss to SKNP's Jason Holder and was asked to bat first.
The chase was a rather comfortable one. Alick Athanaze's 37* and Holder's 18* ensured there was no drama after the side lost four wickets for 76 in 10 overs.
Salamkheil's four-wicket scalp earned him the Player of the Match award.
'Stunner"
The highlight of the match, at least on the Internet, was Holder's 'stunner" to dismiss the ABF opening batter R Cornwall during the fourth over, bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqi on the night.
Cornwall, facing his sixth delivery, walked down the pitch and chipped Farooqi towards the mid-off region. The ball had no timing or air on it, and Holder went ahead and completed a regulation catch.
Hyping up Holder's grab, the CPL's official X handle wrote: 'Holder holds on to a STUNNER!"

Cricket Fans Stunned
Before you read any further, we suggest you watch and perhaps rewatch the catch because when fans came across the 'stunner", they were far from stunned.
'ONE OF THE GREATEST CATCHES IN HISTORY," wrote one sarcastically.
'Cannot believe Holder held on to this impossible chance!" added another.
The hilarity continued.
'The way i just watched this video twice just to see how is this stunner (sic)."
'Oh my god. What a catch. ABD should learn."
'And he took this catch without gloves. Unbelievable."
'Better than any version of catches taken by Jonty Rhodes. Holder the greatest fielder of all time."
'He made it look easy. Easily catch of the year."
Maybe, just maybe, it was all a ploy by CPL's cheeky admin to bring attention to the season opener.

It was Holder's bowlers that earned him a win in the series opener, and he credited them for being outstanding, helping keep ABF batters in check.
'Today, the bowlers were outstanding. When we look at the way we bowled up front in the property, we got wickets; the innings credit must go to Waqar. I thought Waqar was upstanding. He gave us four wickets, which is always crucial energy in T20 games. So happy with the way we've started. If you've got bankers, it makes life easy. We've got quality bowling here. In my opinion, it's only one game in. As I said to the boys, it's important not to get too high or to get too low in this competition; just remain level. And I think if we do that and we are consistent, we'll go deep in this competition," Holder was quoted as saying by ESPN after the conclusion of the contest.

'Has been asked to improve strike-rate': Hesson on Babar's exclusion from Asia Cup squad
Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson claimed that former captain Babar Azam has been asked to improve his strike rate following his exclusion from the upcoming Asia Cup squad. Babar is not the only former T20I captain who has been sidelined for the T20I tri-series and the continental showpiece in the UAE. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is also snubbed from both tournaments. The duo have not played a single T20I game for Pakistan since December last year. However, Hesson has cleared the air on Babar's repeated omission in the T20I format, saying that he needs to develop an aggressive scoring style to earn a spot back in the shortest format. "I think it's really harsh to challenge a player on their form in three games," he said at a press conference. "Babar played nicely in the first ODI but missed out on the next two. There's no doubt Babar's been asked to improve in some areas around taking on spin and in terms of his strike rate. Those are things he's working really hard on. "But at the moment, the players we have have done exceptionally well. Sahibzada Farhan has played six games and won three Player of the Match awards. Babar is slated to play for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League later this year - an opportunity Hesson views as a key step in his path to making a strong comeback. "A player like Babar has an opportunity to play in the BBL and show he's improving in those areas in T20s. He's too good a player not to consider," Hesson said. Shaheen Afridi, who had recently fallen out of favour in T20s, has kept his spot for both the tri-series and the Asia Cup. However, Naseem Shah has been left out once again, despite currently featuring in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). In the build-up to the Asia Cup, the Salman Ali Agha-led side will participate in a T20I tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from August 29 to September 7. The eight-team Asia Cup, to be played in T20I format, will be staged in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from September 9 to 28. Pakistan are placed in Group 'A' alongside India, Oman and UAE. They will open their campaign against Oman on September 12 before the blockbuster clash against archrivals India on September 14.

Rohit Sharma has class to play till 45, make him run 10km every day: Yograj Singh
Former India all-rounder Yograj Singh has said that Rohit Sharma should be asked to run 10 km every day to elongate his cricketing career. Recently, there have been reports emerging about the star batter's future in the ODI team, as the youngsters have performed exceptionally in recent times. However, the BCCI has quashed such reports, saying that they're not in a hurry to take a decision on his Yograj slammed Rohit Sharma's critics, mentioning his class and the Player of the Match performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. He further said that the ODI skipper has the ability to play till 45 years of age and should start running 10 km every day.'The man about whom so many people speak rubbish, Rohit Sharma — I said that day that Rohit will be my man, the man, my man. The way he batted, his batting one side and the rest of the team's batting on the other side. That's his class. You can say, 'Rohit, aapki hume 5 saal aur zarurat hai yaar' (Rohit, we need you for five more years, man) so please do more for your country, work on your fitness and everything. Put four men on him, make him run 10 kilometres every morning. He has the class to play till 45 years of age, if he wants,' Yograj told News18 CricketNext. Furthermore, he also suggested that Rohit should play domestic cricket to maintain his fitness.'I believe you should play domestic cricket; the more you play that, the fitter you'll be. Who got the Man of the Match in the final? Rohit Sharma. So you should only talk about things that you know. If you want to talk about his game and fitness, do that only if you have played at some level. Do you feel ashamed for talking like this?,' he retired from Tests and T20Is, Rohit will next feature in the three-match ODI series against Australia, set to be played from October 19 at Perth Stadium, Perth. The India captain has been out of action ever since the Champions Trophy final, where he scored a match-winning 76 (83) against New Zealand to help India chase down 255 in 49 overs.- EndsMust Watch

Hesson said the players in the current squad, which recently lost an away ODI series to West Indies after losing to Bangladesh in an away T20I series in July, have been doing well.
