Honesty matters: RTC staff return bags with valuables to passengers
Hyderabad: In an act of honesty, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) staff demonstrated their commitment to honesty while fulfilling their responsibilities. They showed remarkable compassion by returning bags filled with goods valued at Rs 19 lakh, which had been left behind on the buses, to the rightful passengers. According to TGSRTC, on May 25, a female passenger forgot her bag in a bus going on the Suryapet – Hyderabad route. As soon as the bus reached the Suryapet bus station, the bag was found by conductor K Anjaiah and driver Yakub Pasha. It contained gold ornaments worth Rs six lakh and a mobile phone. They immediately handed over the bag to the Suryapet depot. The bag was handed over to the passenger in the presence of RTC officials.
In another incident, a passenger forgot a bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs eight lakh in a Hyderabad Airport Pushpak bus. On May 15, the bus was coming from the airport to Lingapally when the driver Mubeen found the bag at Alvin Cross Road. It was handed over to the Miyapur-2 depot officials.
In another incident, a passenger on May 25 forgot the bag at Shilparamam in a Maroka Airport bus. It contained Rs 3.50 lakh in cash, two gold bangles, and a laptop a total of Rs five lakh. Driver Ramesh identified it and handed it over to the passenger in the presence of the authorities.
TGSRTC MD Sajjanar congratulated the staff of Suryapet and Miyapur-2 depots K Anjaiah, drivers Yakub Pasha, Mubeen and Ramesh for their integrity in fulfilling the responsibilities, as they returned the bags to three passengers. He highlighted the growing appreciation for RTC staff that consistently goes above and beyond in their roles, earning them special recognition in the community. He said that the RTC staff's honesty in handing over bags worth Rs 19 lakh, which were lost by passengers in three separate incidents.

Serial bride held for marriage extortion racket in Rudrapur
Rudrapur: A woman blackmailed a man with threats after moving in on the pretext of marriage, extorting lakhs from him, and was caught with ransom money in Rudrapur, police said on Saturday. Hina Rawat, 29, was arrested near Uday Hotel on Kichha road on Friday night following a complaint by Deepak Kakkar, a resident of Bhurarani Road. Rawat, a resident of Kharamasa, Kundeshwari in Kashipur, told the police she befriended Kakkar on a social messaging platform and introduced herself as Ankita Sharma, a high court advocate. She gradually lured him into a romantic relationship and moved into his home with marriage promises. In his complaint, Kakkar said Rawat later began blackmailing him for Rs 30 lakh, threatening to murder him or die by suicide to implicate him and his family in false criminal cases. He had already given her Rs 5 lakh. Kakkar later learnt her real identity, that she was already married and had over a dozen criminal cases registered against her in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh for extortion, cheating, and criminal intimidation. Udham Singh Nagar SSP Manikant Mishra said, "She was arrested red-handed while accepting a Rs 50,000 ransom from the complainant. A fake Aadhaar card was also recovered from her possession. She would impersonate a businesswoman, brand ambassador, contractor, or advocate to con people through fake identities and glamorous façades. She even used matrimonial sites to pose as a bride and frame victims in false rape cases. " An FIR has been registered at Rudrapur police station under BNS sections 308(4), 308(6), and 318(4). Police are now tracking others who may be linked to the racket and have appealed to the public to report such crimes without fear.

Over 200 caught gambling in Surat in 24 hours
Surat: City police carried out several raids since Friday to apprehend those gambling on cards. Traditionally, gambling on Bhim Agiyaras is common among a few communities, while police also remain alert on this day to enforce the law. Every year, police try to stamp out this blatant violation of the law, but it continued this year as well. Most of the people caught gambling are diamond artisans. Police registered 29 FIRs and arrested over 200 people for gambling in the 24 hours ended Saturday evening. Among those caught were five women, who were found gambling with three men in the Utran police jurisdiction. Police seized 10 motorcycles and 18 mobile phones during these raids. A total of Rs 6.67 lakh in cash was seized by police at various sites. In a raid at Velanja village, police caught eight people at a house in Ram Vatika Society. Based on a tip-off, Utran police raided the house at about 3am and found the accused gambling on cards. Five of the eight were women. One accused, Ramesh Amipara, told police that he had invited his acquaintances to gamble at his house and provided the cards. Two suspects are diamond artisans. Police seized items worth Rs 1.50 lakh, in cash and articles like mobile phones. In the Puna police station jurisdiction, eight persons were caught gambling on card games in an apartment. Police seized Rs 24,250 from them. The accused came from places such as Kamrej, Varachha and Punagam to gamble. Police caught 15 persons gambling in the Kapodra police station jurisdiction, at house in Prabhu Darshan Society at about 2.50pm on Friday. Police seized Rs 1 lakh from them. The accused had formed two groups and were gambling on the terrace of the house. Of these 15 people, 10 are diamond artisans who said they were gambling just to pass time. In Varachha, 15 people were caught gambling in Santoshi Nagar Society, most of whom were diamond artisans. They had come there from various areas. The accused were found gambling on the terrace of a house when police raided it at about 3.55am on Friday. All the accused persons are younger than 30 years of age. Police recovered Rs 15,640 from them.
