NBA Draft analyst says Orlando Magic, MSU star Jase Richardson are a 'dream fit'

Yahoo5 hours ago

One NBA Draft analyst is considering the Orlando Magic's pick of Jase Richardson the "perfect" selection.
Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports has labeled Richardson and the Magic a "perfect" match. The Magic selected Richardson with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday night, adding yet another first rounder to the Spartans' long historic list of success.

Here's what O'Connor had to say about the Magic's pick of Richardson in a post on social media:
"Jase Richardson x Orlando Magic = DREAM FIT. This is perfect for both sides. All his size concerns mitigated by this massive, lengthy Magic roster. Adds elite shooting and connective playmaking. Jase would've been top 10 on my Magic big board."
The Magic were considered one of the top landing spots for Richardson, so O'Connor's breakdown of the pick is actually in line with that same thinking. This is great news for Richardson, who should make an instant impact with the Magic next season.

Celtics trade back in second round of NBA Draft after reportedly missing out on Rasheer Fleming

What will the Boston Celtics do next this offseason? What will the Boston Celtics do next this offseason? What will the Boston Celtics do next this offseason? The Boston Celtics were supposed to make the second pick of the second round of the NBA Draft Thursday night. Instead, Brad Stevens traded back to add to his collection of future second-round selections. Boston entered Thursday with the 32nd overall pick and reportedly had eyes on St. Joe's power forward Rasheer Fleming, according to Shams Charania on ESPN's pre-draft coverage. But the Phoenix Suns wanted to draft Fleming and traded up to No. 31 with the Timberwolves, sending pick No. 36 and two future second-round picks to Minnesota to land the athletic forward. After Fleming came off the board, Stevens moved the No. 32 pick to the Orlando Magic for the 46th and 57th pick on Thursday night, and second-round selections in 2026 and 2027. It was quite the haul for Stevens, who added three additional second-round picks for moving back 14 spots. The Celtics now own 10 second-round picks through the 2032 NBA Draft, thanks to Stevens' wheeling and dealing over the last week. The Magic took forward Noah Penda out of France at No. 32. Penda had to awkwardly wear a Celtics hat on stage at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York after his selection was announced Thursday night. Now we wait to see who the Celtics will take with their now two second-round picks Thursday night -- or if Stevens has some more trades up his sleeve to build out Boston's treasure trove of future picks.

49ers WR explains what will change for him after Deebo Samuel was traded

The San Francisco 49ers made some changes to their wide receiver room this offseason, sending Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick, signing Demarcus Robinson, drafting Jordan Watkins and Junior Bergen and losing Chris Conley to retirement. On top of that movement, San Francisco may be without star wideout Brandon Aiyuk to start the season after he tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in a 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 last year. Advertisement With that, someone will need to step up early in the 2025 season, and that could be second-year wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who is preparing like he's already the top guy on San Francisco's depth chart. "My mindset has not changed at all. I'm going to attack it the exact same way I always have," Pearsall said on a recent episode of "49ers Talk" with NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco. "No matter what place I'm at, no matter what the coach tells me, I still have that wide receiver 1 mindset. That's just how I was raised. I've always been a hard worker. My parents raised me that way, and I've always had that same mindset no matter what position you're in. That's just how I attack my life in general. "What makes our room really cool is that everyone has that mindset. [There's] very healthy competition in there and it makes everybody better. I'm excited to see what our receiver room can do this year because I'm still very confident in that." The 49ers took the 24-year-old in the first round (No. 31 overall) of the 2024 NFL draft out of Florida, and after he missed the start of his rookie year due to taking a gunshot to the chest, Pearsall finished with 31 receptions for 400 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. Advertisement This year, Pearsall has plenty of challengers for that top spot in the wide receiver room, including Robinson, Watkins and Jauan Jennings. However, the former Gator should have the highest ceiling of the trio.
