WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 15-9 in Canadian Football League pre-season action on Saturday.
Sergio Castillo booted five field goals for the Blue Bombers at Princess Auto Stadium.
In other action game, the Ottawa Redblacks earned a 23-7 road victory over the Montreal Alouettes. The Redblacks pulled away with a 17-point third quarter.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats scored 10 points in the final quarter and defeated the visiting Toronto Argonauts 24-16. Marc Liegghio had three field goals for the Tabbies, who got touchdowns from Treshaun Ward and Johnny Augustine.
Toronto, which trailed 6-0 at halftime, got a touchdown from receiver Jake Herslow and running back Miyan Williams, and a field goal from Alfredo Gachuz Lozada.
The Calgary Stampeders built up a 21-1 lead at halftime and then coasted to a 31-4 win over the visiting Edmonton Elks.
Stampeders' quarterback Phillip Walker Junior threw for 138 yards and one touchdown as the hosts jumped out to a 15-1 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Logan Bonner scored two touchdowns on the ground, while receiver Daylen Baldwin had one touchdown reception.
Veteran kicker Rene Paredes went 3-for-3 in field goal attempts, including one from 52 yards.
Vincent Blanchard had a 40-yard field goal for the Elks.
The CFL regular season kicks off June 5.
