Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan have revealed the hilarious story of their engagement -- that happened in the middle of IPL 2020!
Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan, have revealed the story of their engagement in the middle of IPL 2020 in the UAE, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The power couple got married in 2021 after over two years of dating and now have a son, Angad, who was born in 2023.
In an interview with former cricketer Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra, Bumrah spilled the beans on how he got a bubble-to-bubble transfer arranged by speaking to IPL officials, decorated his room, and even lit up candles on the balcony. Ganesan, on the other hand, admitted being confused by Bumrah's eagerness to take her to the balcony when she entered his room before the surprise was unveiled.
'That was during COVID times. So, there were bubbles for each and every team." Bumrah said on the show, as quoted by Sportskeeda. 'As luck would have it, she was in KKR, and I was with the Mumbai Indians (MI). Both teams were in Abu Dhabi. I carried a ring in the hope that perhaps after the tournament ends, I'll get a chance. Apart from the ground interactions, we couldn't meet because of the bubble."
'So, she was out. Then, I had to tell people that look, I've brought this ring. Please arrange a bubble-to-bubble transfer. So, that transfer happened. When she arrived, I did everything myself. I placed the cake myself, decorated everything in my room and I had the ring ready," the pacer added.
Ganesan recalled her side of the story, saying: 'I've come to the room and he's telling me, 'balcony mein chalo' (come to the balcony). I am like, I've just walked in, at least give me water. But he's like, nahi nahi balcony mein chalo (no, no come to the balcony)."
Bumrah and Ganesan are currently together in England, where India are playing a five-Test series under the banner of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Bumrah was India's best bowler in the first Test at Headingley but couldn't prevent a five-wicket defeat on the final day.
There's speculation galore over whether he'll play the second match in Birmingham or if the management would choose to manage his workload instead.

Anupam Kher on love and desire: These days, women can be dangerous to husbands

In an exclusive chat with India Today, veteran actor Anupam Kher opened up about the changing face of love, desire, and companionship in today's world. The actor is gearing up for the release of his directorial, 'Tanvi - The Great', which will hit theatres on July about how relationships have evolved globally, Kher said, 'There are strange people everywhere. It's not just an Indian problem - even developed countries have their share of bizarre cases. It's not limited to India - even advanced countries have such cases. It's not an India-centric issue. All kinds of things happen," he said, hinting at the increasingly unpredictable and unsettling nature of relationships his observation further, Kher didn't shy away from speaking about darker realities. "Can you imagine - these days, even women can be dangerous to their husbands, planning things out. I don't want to sensationalise this, but it's frightening. Things are changing so fast, and it's difficult to make sense of it sometimes," he explained. On being asked whether love evolves into companionship as one grows older, the 69-year-old actor reacted, "If both people are capable and find each other attractive, what's wrong with showing compassion - or - passion, for that matter? Why not?" he Hollywood icon Al Pacino as an example, Kher emphasised that desire isn't bound by age. "Mr. Al Pacino had a child at 82 yes, with a much younger woman. There can be passion. Passion is possible. Whatever your age is, if you find a man attractive, won't there be an element of passion in it? Of course, there will be. Desire is desire," he also highlighted a crucial nuance often overlooked in relationships - the gap between admiration and desire. "There's a difference between admiring and desiring. We all want to be admired, but we also want to be desired. The trouble is, sometimes people only admire you, but don't desire you," Kher asked if he would still consider roles built entirely around desire, the actor responded with trademark wit, "It's difficult. Unless you're Richard Gere doing 'Pretty Woman' - it's tough. But we can dream. And yes, I believe anything can happen."Anupam Kher's 'Tanvi - The Great' will release on July 18.- EndsMust Watch

india tour of england; india vs england second test in birmingham on july 2, 2025

India will need to shed their conservative selection approach and give themselves the best chance to take 20 wickets on what is expected to be another batting surface in the second Test against England, beginning in Birmingham on Wednesday (July 2, 2025). By the team management's own admission, India missed a specialist bowler at Leeds, Kuldeep Yadav to be specific, as England comfortably chased down a record 371 on day five of a game that the visitors should have won. In the words of assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, India are grappling to find a team combination that doesn't compromise on batting depth and yet has the bowlers to take 20 wickets. "In terms of managing the strategy there, we're looking at each bowler individually, feeling what we feel they can get wickets-wise. And then it's just trying to balance up and trying to calculate as best you can what the best chance of getting into the Test match. "But you need 20 wickets. So the attacking party is obviously finding someone who can get wickets as well. And we are grappling with that. We don't stop talking about that. We're trying to figure it out," Doeschate admitted. The weather has been rather hot in Birmingham and the surface, bound by a decent covering of grass, is dry underneath. On this very ground three years ago, England had gunned down a daunting 378 with ridiculous ease to draw the series. Of late, the same 22 yards have offered plenty of runs to the batters in county cricket. The spinners will eventually come into the game and India need to decide whether they want someone like Washington Sundar who can assist Ravindra Jadeja or get Kuldeep, who is a much better wicket-taking option. What is confirmed is that India will go in with two spinners. Shardul Thakur was the fast bowling all-rounder at Leeds but there is a strong possibility that batting all-rounder Nitish Reddy starts on Wednesday. Thakur did not have the best of outings but dropping him after one opportunity would be borderline harsh on him. The question mark ahead of the game is over Jasprit Bumrah's availability. If he doesn't play the second of his decided quota of three Tests, the pace line-up is expected to be Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna. With Bumrah hard to handle at the other end, the pacers did not have the required consistency in their lengths to test England batters. They would be wiser after that experience and if Bumrah doesn't play, will have a lot to prove. Jadeja, who could not get much out of a turning pitch on day five at Headingley, would be eager to make an impact too. India's catching would have to be a lot better after the horror show at Leeds, costing Yashasvi Jaiswal his spot in the slip cordon. The batting department has a settled look though India would be desperate to add runs late in the innings after two lower-order collapses that cost them dearly. The likes of K L Rahul, Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant and captain Shubman Gill would be aiming to build on the gains made in the series opener. Rookie Sai Sudharsan and comeback man Karun Nair are certain to get another opportunity after an underwhelming start to the series. England, on the other hand, seem to have added a method to their madness with a refined 'Bazball' approach that gives due respect to the conditions and the bowler. Expected to make a comeback, Jofra Archer has pulled out of the match due to a family emergency but the Chris Woakes-led pace attack would be high on confidence, having cleaned up India's tail twice and allowing the hosts to make a comeback in the contest. Being a home hero, Woakes would be expected to provide the breakthroughs with the new ball after low returns in Leeds. Josh Tongue would be sniffing blood against India's fragile lower-order. Brydon Carse also improved as the game progressed while skipper Ben Stokes, by far, got the most out of the conditions. Sporting wickets have also aided England's aggressive style of batting and that trend is set to continue. Squads: England: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (captain), Jamie Smith (WK), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir. India: Shubman Gill (captain), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
