Indian-origin rapper Tommy Genesis faced backlash for her music video True Blue, where she dressed as a Hindu Goddess and used a cross as a prop, which offended both communities.
Indian-origin rapper Genesis Yasmine Mohanraj, better known as Tommy Genesis, is facing major backlash after her latest music video True Blue went viral. In the video, she is seen dressed like a Hindu goddess with blue body paint, gold jewellery, and a red bindi, while also using a Christian cross as a prop in ways many found disrespectful.
One moment in the video shows her licking the cross and posing with it near her backside. The visuals upset people from both Hindu and Christian communities, who called it 'blasphemy" and accused her of being disrespectful just to gain attention. Some even called it a 'cheap stunt" to go viral.

Social media users have strongly criticised rapper Tommy Genesis for her controversial visuals in the True Blue music video, accusing her of intentionally provoking religious communities.
One user on X remarked, 'Her Indian descent makes it very likely that her makeup is deliberately done to hurt Hindu sentiments. Blasphemy (sic)." Another echoed the sentiment, writing, 'Did you not see the cross coming out of her butt? She's hurting everyone's sentiments, maybe on purpose, to go viral. Cheap tactics (sic)."
Many online have labelled the act as deeply disrespectful and an apparent attempt to stir outrage for attention. 'Her new song openly mocks both Hindu and Christian faiths. This is not creativity this is pure disrespect (sic)," an angry user wrote.

Tommy Genesis, who holds Canadian citizenship, hasn't responded to the criticism yet.

Known for her bold and experimental style, her music often explores themes of gender, identity, and sexuality. In the past, she has referred to herself as a 'fetish rapper."
