Boston man shot, killed has been identified, as police continue to investigate

A Dorchester man killed in a shooting in Roxbury on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as Justin Bettencourt, Boston police said Wednesday.
At around 2:55 p.m., officers learned of a shooting in the area of 107 Munroe St., police said in a statement.
Police found Bettencourt, 21, with a gunshot wound and he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting and asks that anyone with information about the incident call the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
Anyone who wants to submit a tip anonymously can do so through the CrimeStoppers Tip Line by calling 1-800-494-TIPS or text 'TIP' to CRIME (27463).
Those who were affected by the shooting are also asked to call the Boston Neighborhood Trauma Team for free and confidential support, at 617-431-0125.

Atlanta police say a man was shot and killed outside a northwest Atlanta gas station on Wednesday night. Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Andrew Smith told Channel 2 that the victim was shot on the sidewalk near the Chevron gas station, then ran across the street, where he collapsed on that sidewalk and died.
