A person close to David revealed that Sir David had discreetly undergone surgery to mend a broken wrist from an injury dating back 22 years, incurred during a friendly match against South Africa in 2003.
"It had been giving him problems recently and so he wanted to get it fixed," the source stated.
They further mentioned that David intended to leave the hospital shortly and "hoped" to make it to Atlanta in time for Inter Miami's next crucial Fifa World Cup game against his old team Paris Saint Germain on Sunday, reports the Mirror.

This health setback for David arises amidst a reported family disagreement involving his eldest son Brooklyn and Brooklyn's wife, Nicola Peltz. Brooklyn, aged 26, and Nicola, aged 30, have been at the centre of media speculation regarding a supposed 'feud' with his family, including his parents David, aged 50, and Victoria, aged 51.
